So I started a new challenge thread the other day, but I had to edit it. So I clicked my thread to try and edit it and I got the message "Invalid Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator". It was a valid thread so I don't know why it came up with this :/ Thanks.

Also wanted to come in here and say I had someone else tell me about this issue a while back, but they didn't make a thread about it. So he's not the only one that's experienced this.

I'm not a genious or anything but maybe just something wrong with the coding..or maybe just a glitch. ya, a glitch

Threads in the Challenges section require approval from Everlark before they are seen to the rest of the community, in case you didn't know that. It's probably just a permissions error of some sort.

Oh, you mean like when you post a thread in a section where threads are under approval, and you can see it from the index but not reach the actual thread? That's deliberately, or so I was told when I asked about a thread of mine in the Roleplay Corner. You are supposed to see the threads you have posted before they get accepted, so that you don't forget that you actually posted the thread or something. But you're not allowed to access the posts in it before it's been accepted.

    That sounds really silly.
What if they just remembered that something in their thread needs more details before it gets accepted? But they can't add it so it will just get declined and they will have to start all over again. I feel you should be able to edit the thread up to the point of it being declined.

It isn't as silly as you think it is.

There are a lot of people in the Roleplay Corner or Emulation Corner who don't follow the rules properly while making their threads. If there are like minor errors, then the mods usually just tell the people to fix them but there's always the chance that somebody doesn't follow everything and make mistakes in something like five areas. Also, tons of these things happen all the time so the mods can prevent spam in the forum.

If you notify the mods about anything you've forgotten about, then they can probably fix it or just accept the thread anyway to let you know about that.

Well, I agree actually. I think you should be able to view and edit your opening post as well, not just spot it on the index. But that might make it somewhat more tedious for mods to keep track of what threads are waiting for the poster to fix things up and what threads are new, and so. So it might actually be easier for a mod to simply decline a "faulty" thread and tell the poster to make a new corrected one instead. I know that the RP mods offer to PM the content of a post to the creator when threads are declined.

However, I still would like to be able to view my non-accepted thread. Click it and read the post, I mean, without powers to edit or make new posts in it. Sort of as if the thread was locked. That way, we could copy stuff from the old thread when making the new one. Uhm, that maybe leads to the problem of old non-deleted threads cluttering the index through mod eyes though...

Okay I guess I've just typed out my somewhat incoherent ideas here. It works as it is now too, though. Helps against people asking "but i just posted my thread why cant i see it" when they didn't read/understand rules before posting.

It was my understanding that members should be able to view their unapproved thread, so that if they (in the case of Challenges, since that's all I know) forgot their sign up, they could let me know ahead of time so that I don't delete it and if it passed the other requirements, they can add it in once it's approved. The problem here is that SupernoveTyphlosion couldn't view his thread, which is what I thought is what's supposed to happen. So either I misunderstood or the permissions weren't set up correctly.

And if it's the former, I think members should be allowed to view their threads awaiting approval, for reasons already stated. I'm sure it would come in handy for the other forums that require approval as well.
