I was playing my Diamond this morning with a Groudon in my party, and when i went to go to the Mansion, when it started raining, it started to lightning. I thought that was weird. I also had Rayquaza in there so does that have something to do with the lightning? Just wondering. A mod can close if this doesnt make sense to post.

Err... It was raining (in the mansion?).

I'm not sure if i understand, unless you mean outside the mansion, which i guess... it could rain there?

no, i was walking through the path from Pastoria City where the mud and stuff is. That is where it happened.

It is supposed to be there...It always has been...

Yeah, it always rains on that route.
Certain routes are locked with certain weather.
So if you stood there for 5 days, it would never stop raining. :P

I had Rayquaza and Groudon in my party. Remember when Groudon and Kyogre were fighitng in the GBA games? And It wasn't Rayquaza that did it, cuz I've had Rayquaza for 5 months and nothing. I got Groudon and lightning happened.

    Well...
I've been walking around with Groudon, haven't seen any lightning.
Walked around without it, haven't seen any lightning

That happened to me, too, but only once, and I don't think I had Groudon with me.

    hmm strange...very strange

Did you have Rayquaza in your party? That is how it happened to me.

I might have. It was on my Diamond version, and I did have Rayquaza in my party for an extended period of time...hmm...
    *few minutes later*
Nope, nothing. Maybe it was just a random weather thing...

I've noticed the lightning effect, too, and it is actually completely random. Sometimes it just starts thundering in normally rainy areas, that's all. There's nothing special to trigger it.

Lightning and thunder (stormy weather!) is a rare occurance in that route. Occassionally happens, and it's just luck that Groundon was there.
Plus, wouldn't make sense that a Pokemon who's ability makes it sunny would make the overworld weather be stormy...

Another one is that Snowpoint City has a special weather effect (sparkly snow or something?) that happens rarely as well - haven't seen it, but it happens, In fact, I believe it occurs on a game programmer's birthday and all, and that's how people found out about it. Might have been on the main news on Serebii once upon a time.

Either way - it's just a rare occurance. An impressive one at that (yay for lightening!). :)
