Chapter 60: The shocking truth​

?Believe me, Gary. I didn?t want it that way but I had no choice!? Toshin argued back at me.

?You can?t be! Then prove it!? I yelled at him. ?There?s no such thing!?

?Gary, please believe my brother?? Sakaki pleaded. ?I didn?t want to be like this, too?but?I had no choice! We never had a choice!?

?What choice? I told you to give me some proof!? I yelled again.

?Gary, I can?t give you any proof.? Toshin said as he held my shoulder while he was looking at me straight in the eye. ?You?ve trusted me for long?just believe me??

I gripped my fist as I tried not to stare Toshin in the eye.

??The proof is right in front of you. We are the proof. Have you ever wondered why Makoto never aged ever since he met your mother? Have you ever thought why me and my sister never aged ten years ago??

He was right. I looked at him in the eye and he finally smiled. Only this time, it was a different smile that I?ve never seen from him. Perhaps this is what he meant to he Hiroki Heishiro? His eyes weren?t sharp or dull but were bright and twinkling.

?Okay,? I muttered. ?I do believe you?? I looked at Sakaki and she was smiling. I tried to force myself to smile. I was a bit uncomfortable since I was with old people?and I don?t even know how old they are?

?By the way, you got some explaining to do to Silver.? Toshin smiled as he stood up.

I was watching the sky turn orange that day. I basically did nothing but sit down and look up at the sky. Clouds floated by in shades of gold and orange. I yawned and stretched my arms. So far, there wasn?t anything interesting this day. Toshin mentioned that Mewtwo is around here but there seems to be no sign of it.

I was still concerned about Emily?s safety. She could be anywhere by now or she could be captured by Pryce and can get possessed again. I tucked my knees near my chest and held them tightly as I kept myself warm. The sky was now a shady color of bluish-gray and the wind was blowing stronger and colder.

I looked over at Sakaki and she was making a fire with the bundle of gathered firewood on a patch of dirt. Toshin and Makoto were still away and there is no sign of Silver yet. I watched Sakaki struggle to make a fire. Finally, after much effort, she created one. The only thing I can see that is part of the sun was just its rays that were stretching behind the gray shadow that was the hill.

Sakaki stood up and looked at the fire, which was burning brightly. She looked at me and smiled. ?Looks like we?re going to eat rice again?? She smiled as she approached me.

I smiled weakly. ?Do you guys eat rice all the time??

?Technically?? Sakaki paused as she placed a small metal pot full of rice over the fire. ?Yes??

I groaned as I looked down at the ground. Patches of dirt scattered through the whole plains. I looked up and noticed that stars dotted the dark blue sky. Toshin, Silver or Makoto weren?t there that night. I decided that they must be busy.

The next day, was just as boring as last night. Rice was my prediction of breakfast?and I was right. I muttered as I stuffed rice in my mouth. Sakaki was eating her bowl of rice peacefully and didn?t say a word. That morning was a cold, damp morning. Dew formed on the trees? green leaves. The dead, brown leaves that littered the field were wet and soggy as I stood up and walked around, crushing them under my foot.

?Don?t want breakfast? It is the most important meal of the day, you know.? Sakaki said as she continued to eat her rice with her makeshift wooden spoon. She then began to talk about metabolism and how breakfast can speed up metabolism. I didn?t listen to her as I circled around the blackened campfire.

?Metabolism is like a fire. If you put too much firewood in there?? Sakaki continued to explain as she ate.

I looked down at the burnt wood. The ashes were damp with dew. I sniffed the fresh morning breeze as I sat down again to where I was before.

?Finally, if you keep your metabolism fast, you won?t be fat.? Sakaki concluded her explanation that breakfast was the most important meal of the day. She paused when she noticed that I had a worried look in my face. ?There?s something bothering you.? She said suddenly. Her voice was serious this time.

?Sorta,? I muttered. ?Worried about my mom. I?m worried if I can find my dad?? I looked down at the ground solemnly and began kicking the pebbles around me.

?Don?t worry. I?m sure you?ll find him,? She smiled as she placed her bowl down on the ground.

I didn?t reply to what she said. I just looked at the damp and cold ground, digging my boots on the hardened soil. ?I guess?? I suddenly muttered after a few seconds of silence.

As we waited for noon to come, something unexpected happened. I was sitting under the shade of the tree that noon and noticed that Sakaki was talking to Toshin. I stood up quickly as I dusted off my shirt.

?What? Did you find where Mewtwo is?? I asked desperately as I approached them.

Toshin nodded. ?He?s out in the open somewhere. Worst of all, I?m thinking Pryce and Reiji found it out, too. Makoto hasn?t arrived yet?this is bad?? He muttered.

?Then what are we supposed to do?? I asked in desperation. He looked me straight in the eye.

?Our only hope is that Silver will get here soon. Other than that, we?re going to need reinforcements from the gym leaders around here.?

?You don?t need to wait for me,? A familiar voice behind me said.

I turned around and Silver was standing there, with his cloak on. His silver eyes were the first ones I recognized from him. He looked a bit paler than the last time I saw him.

?Silver,? Toshin smiled. ?Glad you made it here.?

Silver smirked. ?I guess I wasn?t here that fast.? He looked at me. I was having an inner conflict within myself. How should I apologize to him? How could I explain why Emily left?

?Don?t worry about Emily, Gary.? He suddenly said. I looked up and he was approaching us. ?I?m sure she?ll be back soon. You don?t need to explain anything to me.? I smiled weakly as he stopped in front of Toshin. ?The gym leader would have no problem tackling down Mewtwo. I?m sure Sakaki could help them. When Pryce takes on the bait, we take on Reiji.?

Toshin nodded. ?That was what I planned?? Toshin muttered as he scratched his head. ?Sakaki, contact all the surrounding gym leaders now. Celadon, Saffron, Cerulean, and Vermillion.?

She nodded as she closed her eyes and began. After a few seconds, she opened her eyes. ?I?ve contacted all of them. Now, it?s best we find Mewtwo.?

Toshin led us through the hill, across the fields, and into a place where the meadow stops and uprooted trees began to appear. I looked around the place and it looked pretty creepy. Every tree was uprooted everywhere all around the field. The ground was rocky and hard. I then noticed tall, dark, rocky hills in front of us.

?Mewtwo?s on the other side,? Toshin muttered. ?Be sure to approach with caution and don?t let out all of your Pok?mon. We?ll be waiting here for the gym leaders.? He then took a deep breath and exhaled heavily. ?If Pryce finds it before Makoto or the gym leaders arrive, we?re going to be a bit desperate.?

We climbed the hills slowly and silently. My hands were getting tired as I clambered up the hills. They didn?t show any signs of tiring at all. They continued to scale the hills. As we reached the top, we looked down. This was the first time I saw Mewtwo. The tall, monstrous, purple Pok?mon was standing silently down below. It had its back turned to us. I could see a single cord connecting from its back to its head. Its huge tail rested on the ground. It stood tall overlooking the other side.

?Good, now we have to wait,? Toshin muttered as he walked back a few feet.

I sat down, looking at Mewtwo. It was still meditating motionlessly. I had an interest in observing it. Even though it didn?t move for the next few hours, it still fascinated me to watch it.

?Seems fascinating, huh?? Sakaki whispered as she sat next to me.

I nodded as I kept my eyes at Mewtwo. It was still standing there, motionless. ?This is the first time I?ve ever seen it. I?ve heard so many stories of it?? I whispered back.

Silver was next to her, sitting quietly and not mentioning a word. His eyes were closed. He must be thinking of something else. Toshin looked around him and surveyed the area from next to us.

After a few minutes, I could feel the warm air change. It was more of a cold air that surrounded us.

?He?s here?? Silver muttered as he opened his eyes and looked down. ?Where are the gym leaders??

I looked down and noticed that Pryce the same masked man I?ve seen from before confronted Mewtwo. His torn and tattered black clothes waved wildly as he approached Mewtwo. He let out a thin, dark hand as it came closer to Mewtwo. Mewtwo moved back as it floated and suddenly formed a giant shining spoon out of thin air.

?We gotta find a way to find Reiji before Pryce controls it!? Toshin said as he stood up. ?Sakaki, can you sense him??

Sakaki shook her head. ?No, I can?t. Mewtwo?s psychic signals are too powerful.? She muttered as she stood up and looked down.

?What do we do now?? I asked, as I desperately wanted Mewtwo to win.

Pryce sent out one of his wisps towards Mewtwo. It quickly destroyed it with a single swing with its spoon and charged at Pryce with its spoon. Pryce evaded the spoon and continued to send more wisps. I heard footsteps from behind us. I quickly turned around expecting Reiji but it was someone else.

?Sorry we?re late!? Red said as he climbed up the hill.

?Slow down will ya, Red!? Surge yelled from behind him. ?I?m getting old for this!?

I looked down but then realized that Sabrina just appeared behind me. ?Tell me weren?t not late?? She muttered.

I turned around and Erika was with her. She must?ve teleported with Sabrina.

?No you?re not?? Toshin replied as he looked around.

?Awesome!? I exclaimed. But before I could feel my joy, a huge tornado appeared next to us.

?Oh no! Mewtwo sensed us!? Red yelled, as the tornado grew stronger and stronger.

I looked down and noticed Pryce shielding himself from Mewtwo?s attack.

?This psywave will grow stronger unless we all disperse,? Sabrina muttered.

?All of you! You take on Pryce. We?ll take on Reiji!? Silver yelled. ?Sakaki will help!?

They all nodded as they all confronted the tornado. They rushed down with Sakaki towards Pryce. A shriek was heard. It must?ve been Pryce. I looked at Toshin and Silver. They had concerned looks in their faces.

?Well, well, well?? A cruel, cold voice said behind us. We turned around and Reiji?s scarlet eyes glared at us. ?If it isn?t Heishiro?isn?t this a great reunion??

Toshin swore as I saw him took out an Ultra Ball. However, I saw Silver hold his arm. ?If you take that out, Mewtwo will make its psywave stronger.? He muttered. Toshin nodded as he placed it back in his pocket.

?So, why don?t you all accompany me down where it?s more comfortable?? Reiji smiled as he slid down the opposite direction downwards. We followed him slowly until we reached the ground. I heard yells and commands from the other side. The huge tornado was still there.

?So, you have tracked me down, eh?? Reiji calmly said as he stroked his green hair. ?You?ve grown clever these days, Heishiro.?

?Get out of this world, Reiji! You?ve already caused enough troubles!? I looked at Toshin and his eyes glared at him. I?ve seen this face before. It was the same face I?ve seen in my vision when Reiji killed Toshin?s lover.

?Well, I would do if I have accomplished what I came here for,? Reiji looked at Toshin with pure delight. He motioned us forward in a way of taunting us. ?You know my goal. Now come and get me!?

Fluff.I filler chapter.Other that finding out their secret,It realy was fluff.But this last chapter on the other hand was pretty good!It looks like we're getting closer to the last chapter.

Chapter 61: Daughter

Toshin didn?t respond to the taunt but simply smirked. He took out his Ultra Ball and readied himself.

Reiji scowled. ?Was that it? Aren?t you going to get me?? He yelled at him, as he glared at us.

?I?m not wasting my energy and time with you, Reiji. If you want to settle this in a battle, then let it be.? Toshin responded loudly and clearly. ?I?ve known you for cowardice acts before!?

Reiji smiled. ?Correct,? His smile grew wider. ?That is why she is here.?

I noticed something move from behind him. It was a small girl with red hair.

?Emily!? I yelled. But something was wrong with her.

She looked at us dazedly with her red eyes; scarlet eyes that were like Reiji?s.

?No, Emily!? Silver yelled as he moved closer.

Toshin sighed as he gripped his fist. ?Coward!? He shouted to Reiji. ?Why did you take possession of her, too??

?Oh, I didn?t found her. It was Makoto?s fault he found her.? Reiji smirked as I noticed Makoto?s limp body being dragged by Emily.

?Possessed? Do you mean??? I looked at Toshin. He had an angry look in his face and nodded.

?She is. But this one?it?s permanent. If unless Reiji dies or he might loose connection to the possessed?that is the only way to free her; even though they?re possessed?they gain no powers from him.? Toshin muttered loudly.

?Well said, Heishiro. Do you still remember when I demonstrated this for the very first time? Yes. That was years and years ago and yet it still remains vivid in my mind.? Reiji let out a maniacal laugh.

Behind us, the tornado was still raging. The gym leaders continued to fight Pryce as they yelled out commands and attacks.

?What did you do to her?? Silver shrieked. ?Monster! Release her now!?

?Well, she is your daughter now that I understand your outrage?but I?m afraid I cannot let her go. As Heishiro just explained, the only time I could release her is by death of by disconnection. In other words?death by me or death by her.?

?No!? Silver yelled as he ran towards Reiji but was stopped when Emily came in front of him. Her glaring scarlet eyes stopped Silver in his tracks.

It dawned in me at that moment?the reason for the death of Sakaki?s lover. Reiji must have controlled him and Sakaki had no choice but to kill him.

?Afraid to strike?? Reiji taunted Silver. ?Let me have the first strike then,?

Emily stepped forward one space and punched Silver directly into the face. Silver recoiled as he staggered back, clutching his jaw. His horror displayed in his eyes.

?Reiji!? Toshin yelled. ?Enough of this! Fight me alone!?

Reiji scowled at Toshin. ?How could you let me stop all of this fun?? He chuckled. ?Attack them!? He yelled pointing a finger at us. Emily advanced towards us slowly. Her red eyes fixated to ours. Her shoes made scraping sounds as she walked on.

?Emily, listen to me!? Silver said desperately as he confronted her. ?Don?t you remember me??

Emily sent out a punch but Silver immediately dodged it. She threw another punch but Silver quickly caught it.

?Emily!? Silver pleaded. ?This is your father!?

Emily growled as she released herself from Silver?s grasp. She growled at us as she continued to move on.

?Remember Heishiro that I can read the possessed mind? Want me to narrate this little girl?s sweet tale?? Reiji said with his voice, half singing.

?Keep your mouth shut!? Toshin yelled. He found this opportunity as he stormed forward, leapt above Emily and quickly grabbed Reiji?s clothes. ?Keep your mouth shut, Reiji! Let her go of her possession.?

Reiji smiled. ?Oh she valued her father so much. She wanted him and her mother to go to?? Reiji was punched by Toshin. Emily stopped on her tracks as Toshin landed another punch on Reiji?s face. ?Yes?he loves his father and his mother?? Another punch connected. Reiji continued on. ?She loves this boy?yes?loves him so dearly and so??

?Enough!? Toshin yelled as he threw another punch at him. This time, Reiji caught the punch.

?Inane?? He muttered as he rose up to meet Toshin?s height.

Emily then continued to walk toward me. She ignored Silver who was trying to stop her and now, she?s heading towards me. Her eyes glared at me, as I stood there, paralyzed.

?Inane?Heishiro?you are inane?? Reiji muttered as he spat blood from his mouth.

Toshin swore as he threw another punch but was again, caught by Reiji.

?Why do you help these people? If you didn?t want me to hurt the little girl, then why did you help them?? Reiji sneered at Toshin who was glaring back at him.

?Emily!? Silver called again as he raced towards her. ?Emily!? He grabbed her shoulder but Emily shoved his hand away and faced him. She threw a punch, which Silver easily evaded.

?Stop it, Emily!? I yelled as I grabbed her arm. ?Stop it!?

She quickly escaped from my grasp and looked at me. I noticed something with her eyes. They were tearful yet the signs of possession still remained in them.

?You?you never loved me?? She muttered in a monotonous tone. It wasn?t the voice of the Emily I knew. ?You?never loved me back??

?Emily!? I yelled. ?It?s not true! We were just friends!?

I grabbed her arm, which was about to punch me and Silver held her other arm.

?Hold her!? Silver yelled. I nodded in response.

I looked at Toshin and Reiji?they were still in midst of the struggle. Toshin moved his feet forward, causing them to move back apart a few feet away. Toshin took out his Ultra Ball and quickly threw it.

?Hyper beam!? He yelled as a tall, green and monstrous looking Pok?mon came out of its Pok?ball. Its rocky body was lined with horns and its spiked tail slammed the ground. It opened it mouth and sent out a huge beam towards Reiji.

I saw Reiji took a full blow of the hyper beam. I could see his body being engulfed in yellow light as he let out a blood-curdling scream. I shuddered as he did. Toshin stood next to his Pok?mon, still unsatisfied since he was still in battle position. As the smoke cleared, Reiji?s horrible bloody body stood. His clothes were torn, tattered, and full of blood. Blood leaked from his mouth as he tried to speak.

In midst of the destruction and the loud noises, Makoto was still unconscious on the ground.

?So it?s true?? Silver muttered as he handled the struggling Emily.

Reiji leaned down as he spat out blood from his mouth.

?It is true?he really is?immortal, too?? Silver said in horror. Now I realized?if we couldn?t kill Reiji?the only way left to do is to kill Emily in order to get her out of her possession?

?Im?impressive!? Reiji spat as blood gushed out from his body. ?You got me there with your old Tyranitar.?

?It?s time for you to go now,? Toshin muttered as he returned his Tyranitar and walked towards Reiji. Before he could reach Reiji, something or someone knocked him off his feet. Toshin swore as he stood up and looked around to whoever hit him. ?What was that?? He yelled as he looked around.

Reiji laughed. ?Something about Pryce?s possessed minions is that they gain extra power when they get possessed,? Reiji said as he wiped blood from his face. His scalded body shined with blood.

Silver and I looked around while still holding Emily. Where did it come from? Then, we noticed someone. I realize who it was the moment I laid my eyes on that someone. It was the man from the island. His whole head was still covered by a mask as he stood next to Reiji. He was gasping and wheezing as the gaping eyes glowed behind that mask.

?I though you killed all of your men!? Toshin yelled as he straightened himself.

?Oh that?s true. But this man seems to be quite special to Pryce.? Reiji smirked. ?He said that he?s the most strongest of his minions. I didn?t doubt it at all since he knocked you down.?

Toshin scowled. Behind us, the battle raged on. I was soon lost in thought. Will all of this end soon? Will we win or will we loose? I didn?t notice the possessed Emily took advantage of my thoughts, as she broke free of my grasp. She took a knife hidden in her clothes and quickly stabbed Silver to the heart.

?Yes!? Reiji yelled.

Toshin turned around but was then punched by the possessed man behind the head. Both wrestled to the ground, as I looked in horror. Emily stabbed her father directly to the heart. Silver?s eyes widened as Emily thrust deeper.

Reiji laughed. ?Release her!? He boomed.

I looked at Emily and I noticed her eyes returning to normal once more. Her glare disappeared as she noticed what she was doing.

?Daddy?no!? She yelled as she looked at her bloody hands. The knife was still thrust on Silver?s chest. ?What did I do?? She yelled hysterically as Silver fell to the ground.

?Silver!? I yelled. I immediately rushed to his side. Emily was looking in horror as Silver gasped for breath.

Behind us, Reiji laughed maniacally as Toshin and the possessed man wrestled to the ground. Obviously, the possessed man was having an advantage.

?Emily?? Silver whispered as he coughed.

?Daddy, what did I do?? She asked in desperation. ?What did I do??

?Emily?I?m glad?you?re here?? Silver whispered. ?I?m sorry I have to break our promise.?

?No! We?ll all be happy together with mommy! Don?t die, daddy!? Emily yelled but then she noticed me. ?Gary! You can heal him, right? You can heal daddy!? I could see tears running down her face as she clenched her bloodstained hands. ?Please heal daddy?? She pleaded.

?Gary?so you can?do what your mother does. If you fail?don?t blame yourself?? Silver smiled as he held Emily?s hands.

?I won?t fail!? I yelled as I grasped the knife?s handle. I quickly took it out as Silver groaned in pain. I held out my hand directly on top of Silver. I ignored the yells on the other side. I ignored Reiji?s laughter. I just closed my eyes as I tried to find it in me. I?m sure I could heal Silver?like what my mother did to Makoto. I tried to feel the warmth in my hands.

?Daddy!? Emily yelled at Silver.

?No! It?s not over yet! It?s not over yet!? I thought to myself as I felt the warmth in my hands. I opened my eyes to see a yellow light forming around my hands and cleared Silver?s wound. I looked at his wound and it slowly closed up as if it was in reverse. Even though blood was still present everywhere, the wound was now gone.

Silver sat up slowly as he touched his chest. He looked at Emily as she quickly threw her arms around him.

?Daddy, I?m sorry?? She sobbed as she hugged Silver tightly.

?It?s okay now, it?s okay.? Silver comforted her.

In midst of this, I didn?t notice that we were still fighting. I realized this when Toshin was throws next to us. He was still conscious but barely. He was bleeding pretty badly.

?Toshin,? I said as I helped him up.

?Oh, how cute. Did little Gary heal up Silver?? Reiji mocked. In front of him, the possessed man was wheezing and gasping. ?It looks like I?m going to have to give all of you a quick death!?

The possessed man moved closer to us. But then, before he could take another step, a blast of water knocked away. ?I hate it when people knock me out?? We turned around and noticed that Makoto was awake now. His Kingdra just sent out a hydro pump.

?Makoto!? Toshin said as he wiped blood off his mouth.

?Sorry I overslept.? Makoto muttered. ?Every fine here?? He asked us.

I nodded and looked at Silver who was standing up and Emily was clinging to him.

?Makoto Hikari finally woke up, eh?? Reiji laughed. ?This?ll be very interesting. Very, very interesting.?

Chapter 62: Chasing madness​

I looked around. The possessed man was standing up now. He groaned in pain as he clutched his stomach. It was bleeding from the powerful blast.

?Shouldn?t have done that?? I heard Makoto talk to himself.

?It looks like I am a bit overpowered, eh?? Makoto threw us a sneer. He stretched his arms to the sky, as he looked up. ?I?ll have to finish off all of you now,?

I looked up at the sky. The blue cloudless sky turned to a dark shade of violet. The winds grew stronger and stronger by the moment.

?Everyone, grab into something!? Toshin yelled to everyone amidst the chaos. Dead leaves began to fly around the ground as they all headed towards the sky. Black clouds began to form and created a swirl in the sky. The winds were now raging. The tornado that was just the other side of the hills was gone.

?Fool! There is no escape from this gate!? Reiji yelled as he lowered his arms. Behind him, a purple vortex tore out from the air. I could see purple plasma beyond the tear.

?What is this?? I yelled as the winds howled and rocks were being dragged to Reiji and his vortex.

?You?ve seen it before!? Makoto yelled as he grabbed my hand. ?It?s an Unown gate!?

?Only, this one will suck anything it wants,? Toshin added as he, Silver and Emily tried to move back. We all struggled to run away from the vortex but it kept dragging our feet towards it.

Reiji laughed. Pryce?s slave was next to him. They didn?t seem to be affected with the suction of the vortex. ?It?s best to surrender now!? Reiji boomed to make his voice louder than the winds. ?Pryce used to think that you were useful to him, Gary. But now, he found a new tool. He?s found you obsolete!?

?What are you talking about?? I yelled back.

?It?s too bad you won?t be seeing it! Now, it?s time you all fall down!?

Emily screamed as she and Silver were dragged by the wind towards the vortex.

?No!? I screamed as I headed towards them.

?Gary, no!? Toshin yelled to me as he attempted to grab me but missed my hand. I quickly grabbed Silver?s hand and continued to fight the winds. Rocks were starting to fly everywhere and towards the vortex.

I continued to walk slowly as I dragged Silver and Emily. They tried to walk but the wind interrupted their steps.

?It?s foolish to resist! How inane!? Reiji screamed.

Makoto, who was holding to Toshin, and was holding to a nearby boulder, held out his hand for me. ?Grab my hand, Gary!? He yelled to make his words audible.

The wind howled and roared as leaves and dust flew around me. Dust flew into my eyes and I was blinded. I blinked trying to see Makoto?s hand. My hand tried to grab Makoto?s but I couldn?t feel it. Finally, Makoto managed to grab my hand instead.

?Hold on, everyone! Whatever happens, don?t let go!? Toshin yelled in midst of the noise.

I could hear screams on the other side. What could be happening there? Nevertheless, the howling winds were the ones that I heard more of.

As I squinted, I noticed Toshin?s hand was bleeding as he held on to the rough surface of the boulder. If he?d let go, we?re doomed. He yelled in pain as he tried to hold Makoto and the rock at the same time. There wasn?t enough time to summon out Pok?mon. The moment we take them out, we could get sucked into the vortex.

With the winds, I could hear Reiji?s laughter roaring in the air. My palms were getting sweaty as I held onto Makoto?s hand.

?Hang in there,? I somehow heard Makoto?s words despite the loud winds. ?Don?t give up, kid!?

My muscles were strained and my arms were numb as I kept on holding onto Makoto and holding Silver at the same time. I felt my grip slowly slip from Makoto?s grasp. My palms were already damp and sweaty. I couldn?t hold on any longer.

?Don?t give up, Gary!? Silver yelled as I somehow felt his grip tighten.

My hands were numb and I couldn?t feel them. The only thing I felt were Makoto?s hand, slipping slowly from my grasp, and Silver?s hand, which was clenched tightly to my numb hand. As I slipped slowly, I began to feel dizzy.

?Gary!? Toshin yelled. ?Don?t give up!?

I felt my hand slip more from Makoto?s grasp. He called my name another time but I didn?t respond. He held my fingers tightly but I was slipping away faster and faster. I was now having a splitting headache. I couldn?t restrain myself as I yelled out loud. As I yelled, my fingers couldn?t feel Makoto?s hand anymore. My fingers totally slipped away from his grasp.

?Gary!? Makoto yelled.

Emily screamed as I felt Silver, Emily and me being dragged in the air towards the vortex. Reiji?s screaming laughter filled the air as we were thrown about around the air.

I shut my eyes as I awaited my fate. My fate was actually more bizarre than I thought. I heard a loud explosion and we slammed down to the ground, hard. The winds stopped howling and everything wasn?t rampaging. I looked around and noticed that Reiji was standing in front of me with shock and rage in his eyes. I was lying down on the ground as I looked at Reiji?s muddy boots. Beside him was the possessed man, standing there motionless. Leaves were strewn everywhere and rocks the size of my fist were thrown about. I was a few feet away from getting sucked into the vortex but it stopped.

?Gary, you alright?? A familiar voice asked me from the distance. I looked over at the top of the hill. It was Marina. I noticed her immediately since she was standing with Nick, Michelle and Gold. A Meganium, Blaziken, Swampert, and a Typlosion were standing in front of them.

?How nostalgic,? Reiji muttered. ?If it isn?t Gary?s friends. Torn apart by your naivety, Gary.?

?Wha?what happened?? I muttered as I looked around. Silver was holding Emily as he tried to stand up, supporting her.

?You kids help him. I?m helping Red and the others over here,? Gold commanded them as he went down to the other side his Typlosion followed him as it ran down on all fours.

?We?re coming down, Gary!? Nick yelled as they all skid down the hill with their Pok?mon in front of them.

Toshin was standing up when they reached the ground. Makoto was on his knees, gasping for air. Toshin wiped his bloody hands with his cloak as he stumbled, limping.

?Who the heck are you?? Nick said all of the sudden, noticing Toshin.

?Never mind about me, kid. I have a grudge to settle here.? He muttered out loud as he walked towards Reiji. His long, dark cloak flowed behind him as he approached him.

I stood up, trying to retain my balance since my body was still numb and my feet were shaking.

?You alright, Gary?? Nick asked as he, Michelle, and Marina headed towards me. He helped me up and supported me by placing my hand around his shoulders.

Toshin was now in front of Reiji. I could see his long hair behind his back flowing softly with the wind. Reiji threw back a scowl at Toshin. He was now totally outnumbered and I bet he was out of ideas.

?It?s come to do this now, Reiji,? Toshin muttered as he faced Reiji.

Reiji sneered as his eyes glowered at Toshin. ?You?ve forgotten him,? He said as he nudged his arm towards Pryce?s slave. He was still standing there motionless.

?I haven?t,? Toshin replied as he gripped his fist. As he said the words, he smiled.

A shriek filled the air. It was so loud that I had to cover my ears. The glass-shattering scream filled the air. Immediately, I felt the air turn cold. I looked around and noticed something rushing down the hill. It looked like torn garments running down the hill with a shriek like laughter. It zoomed past us and headed straight towards Reiji and Toshin. When it passed them, the slave was gone. What I knew to be Pryce has now fled. It disappeared across the horizon. Cheers filled the air from the other side.

Reiji looked at Toshin with sheer horror. He tried to run away but couldn?t. He was paralyzed in fear and in desperation.

?Pryce failed. Mewtwo fled. Anything more to say?? Toshin smiled at him while he was still glaring.

Reiji scowled and moved back a few feet. ?Enough! That coward will pay!? He roared as the winds started to blow once more. Behind him, the dark vortex was torn open once more.

?Now!? Toshin yelled all of the sudden. I didn?t notice Makoto rush towards him. Sakaki was with him, all of the sudden. They rushed towards Toshin?s side. ?Don?t attack!? Toshin yelled when he noticed us readying our Pok?mon.

Reiji let out a scream as the dark vortex expanded twice its size.

?Hold on to something!? Toshin yelled even though he didn?t have anytime left to look behind at us. All of us rushed towards the hill and held tightly to the rocks. The wind was now increasing in power. It howled stronger and stronger as time passed. The suction of the vortex began.

I looked up at Toshin, Makoto, and Sakaki and they were still confronting Reiji. I called out their names in fear that they will get sucked up in the vortex. The winds were so strong that I didn?t even hear myself calling their names. I looked around to find a way to help but there was nothing.

Nick was still holding tightly to me as rocks began to fly around towards the dark vortex. As the dark tunnel expanded, I noticed dark weird shaped Pok?mon flying around the place. They were flying around the four.

I glanced at them and noticed they were in a position that I saw in my vision. I was thinking that they were trying to control the gate, too as they have done before. The winds raged on and howled. I looked at my friends and they had their eyes shut as they clung to the boulders.

My heart stopped when I heard a sudden explosion. It let out a loud sound that almost deafened my ears. It was then followed by a shock wave that blew across the fields. I held tightly to Nick as the shock wave ran through us. Dust and rocks followed the torrential winds and soon the winds died down, slowly. As the winds calmed down, I opened my eyes and looked towards the four?but now there were three. Two figures were walking towards us. Toshin was holding his sister on his arms?she apparently fainted. Makoto used Toshin?s shoulder as a support as they walked slowly towards us.

I glanced around. Silver was holding Emily tightly and was looking at them walking towards us. I didn?t notice Marina and Michelle were just beside me. But then a loud chorus of cheers and claps came from above. I looked up and noticed all of our allies?Gold, Red, Sabrina, Surge, and Erika.

When Toshin finally reached us, he gave Sakaki to Makoto and laid his cloak on the ground, he then placed her there as she slept.

?What happened?? I stammered, still shaken by the explosion. I noticed that all of our allies were coming down the hill.

?Managed to make it a rebound,? Makoto muttered. ?When he made that gate, we made ours right behind him. Well?you get the picture,?

Toshin sent out a sigh of relief as he sat down on the ground. When our allies reached the bottom, they were all talking loudly. Surge patted Red?s back so hard that Red was choking. Sabrina was silent while Erika smiled behind her. Marina hugged her father tightly as she giggled. Gold looked at Silver and was shocked.

?Long time no see, Silver,? He smiled amidst all of the happiness.

Silver smiled back at him as he still held Emily, who was now sleeping soundly. ?I see you have a daughter of your own now,?

Gold grinned at him. Everyone else was talking happily and I felt Surge?s massive pat on the back. It did make my cough a bit since he hit my back so hard.

?This is not yet over,? I heard Toshin mutter. Everyone fell silent immediately. ?Even though we?ve sent Reiji into a different dimension, we haven?t done anything about Pryce yet,?

These last 2 chapters were wonderful Oni!
I never would have thought Emily would stab her father in that way.
You keep coming up with great ideas.

We're about 10 - 15 chapters away...I think... ;)

Sorry guys but no new chapters today. Writer's block slowed me down and adding chapters everyday caught up to me... O_o

Chapter 63: Upcoming Challenge​

A long pause followed but was broken when Red spoke up. ?Then we?ll wait for him to resurface. If he comes out somehow, then we?ll handle him,?

Everyone cheered as he said so. Soon, all the gym leaders departed and so did Red. Toshin was still caring for his sister while Makoto was right next to him. Gold decided to stay for a while. He was still tired when he rushed here. He claimed that he heard Sakaki?s message somehow and decided to help out. Michelle and Nick volunteered and Marina followed them. They were sitting right next to me as Marina treated my wounds. They were just minor scrapes from rocks that flew around.

?So Gary, why did you leave all of the sudden?? Nick asked all of the sudden as Marina wrapped my arm in bandages.

I quickly tilted my head towards Michelle. She still had her saddened eyes but was smiling.

?I?I just wanted too?? I said solemnly.

?Weird?so you leave all of the sudden and Michelle becomes sad all of the sudden?? Nick muttered to himself.

?All done!? Marina said as she finished bandaging. ?You?re lucky we arrived here on time,?

?Yeah, thanks guys!? I replied as I smiled.

Marina?s attention was quickly diverted to Silver. ?So you?re Emily?s dad,? She said as she looked at Silver?s eyes. ?And you?re my dad?s old rival, huh??

Silver nodded slowly as he held Emily who was sleeping on his lap. ?I guess that?s how you may put it,?

?Wow, you look so much like her,? She exclaimed. She quickly went to her father since he was sitting next to Silver.

I turned my attention to Toshin who was still tending to her sister. He was sitting right next her and held up her limp hand. Makoto was next to him; only he was standing and gazing at the horizon.

?Man, we freaked out when we couldn?t find you,? Nick said as I snapped out of my mind wandering state. ?Some people did see you leave the island but they said that you left with no one. Is that true??

I nodded slowly as my heart hammered. I couldn?t tell him the truth, can I? Am I supposed to?

?Well, what happened to Emily? The first time we thought was that she was out with you. But then people said that you were trying to find her and you left?? Nick continued as he scratched his head. Next to him was Michelle who looked solemnly to the ground. Her blue eyes looked slightly dull?not the ones that I used to see?they used to be raging with confidence.

?Dunno?I just don?t know?I guess?? I said silently. I looked on the ground and watched the dust being blown away by the light wind. ?Look?before anything happens by now, I need to go to the city to get my badge.? I said all of the sudden as I rose up.

?You sure? You don?t look well to me,? Nick said as he examined my wounds. Michelle looked up at me with concerned eyes.

?Sure I?m sure!? I exclaimed as I stretched my arms but let them down immediately since I was feeling pain in them. ?By the way, guys. What are you guys going to do if Gold?s leaving??

?If you want to, we all could finish off our badges and go to the league,? Nick suggested. ?We?ll stick around for a while. Then we go into the league??

?I don?t know?? I muttered as I looked at the ground. ?It?s like I don?t want to go to the league??

As I said those words, a ringing sound came from Gold. He looked surprised as he took out a small, gray, square looking phone. ?Hello?? He said after he opened it and placed it near his ear. ?Crys? You sure?? He nodded as he replied. ?Okay,?

He nudged Marina. ?We have to go back to Cinnabar. Your mom?s panicking there,? He said in a serious tone.

?Aw, dad,? Marina said in a pleading tone. ?Do we have to??

?You?re mom?s really panicked. I couldn?t even understand what she was saying.? He stood up and stretched his arms. ?So, Silver.? He said as he lent out his hand towards him. ?Nice to meet you again. Hope we see each other again someday,?

Silver nodded as he shook Gold?s hand. ?Maybe we?ll be seeing more later than you think,?

Gold smiled as he took out a Pok?ball. ?Come on, Marina!?

?Wait, dad!? She said as she took out a Pok?ball and quickly skipped to me. ?Give this to Marina when she wakes up, okay?? She smiled at me and handed me two steel plates. ?Here. I?ve seen your Pok?mon before and I think these would help. They?re metal coats. If you let some of your Pok?mon hold these, they?ll be stronger,?

?Thanks,? I replied as she smiled. She then ran towards her father.

Gold released a huge dark blue Pok?mon that looked as if it had wings. It floated in the air and it looked as if it has handles used for parasailing. On its wings were dozens of fish Pok?mon sending out screeching sounds. Gold grabbed the handlebars as Marina sent out her Skarmory.

?Bye, everyone!? Marina said as she leapt on Alvis? back. ?I?ll be seeing all of you guys!?

At that moment, they flew off into the sky with their Pok?mon. I waved back at them as they disappeared to the south. The sun was already setting to the west and the sky was colored a vivid orange. There were so many things that happened this day. I looked over at Nick and he replied with a smile. Then, I looked at Michelle and she had a weak smile on but her eyes were still sad.

Silver looked at his daughter silently as she slept. Toshin was still caring for Sakaki and Makoto now sat, gazing at the setting sun.

As morning came, I was first to wake up. The sky was still gray and the wind was smelled fresh as I stood up and stretched my arms. Everyone was still asleep that time. Toshin was sleeping while sitting up. His arms were folded and Sakaki, who was sleeping on Toshin?s cloak, was still in her same position as she had yesterday. Makoto was lying down on the hard ground. Silver was asleep against the boulder while Emily was sleeping on his lap.

I walked around and noticed that Nick and Michelle were sleeping together. Michelle was leaning on Nick?s shoulder. I looked up at the sky and noticed the smoldering firewood where they once built the fire. It came to my mind that I was near Saffron city. If I can make it there and defeat Sabrina, I?ll just go to Viridian and get my final badge. Even though yesterday, I had no intention of entering the league, my hopes were renewed immediately.

I began my way towards Saffron, just south from here. Though I?m not sure if I?m really ready. That uneasiness stopped me in my tracks. I turned to look back at my friends. Something looked wrong though. Where?s Nick?

?Looking for me?? He said abruptly from behind me.

I let out a small yell as I jumped back. He was smiling as I fell back to the ground. ?Don?t do that!? I whispered loudly in an angry tone.

?Sorry, I couldn?t resist. I thought you were going to really leave us again,? He grinned as he helped me up.

?I?m not going to leave again!? I muttered angrily as I dusted my back. ?I just want to challenge the gym leader?Sabrina?you know?.?

Nick looked at me quizzically. ?You sure you can beat her? I think your Pok?mon aren?t that strong enough,?

I looked at him back in a serious way.

?Lemme see your Pok?mon,? He said as he lent out his hand.

I took out my six Pok?balls and then took out my Pok?dex at the same time. ?Here, you can check their status with this thing,?

?Oh yeah, I remember you pulling out that thing once in a while.? Nick replied as he took the Pok?balls in one hand and the Pok?dex in the other. He muttered to himself as he checked my Pok?mon?s stats.

?Since when did you know so much about Pok?mon?? I asked all of the sudden. ?And how do you know so much about that Pok?dex??

He looked at me and smiled. ?My grandfather is a professor in Hoenn. He makes stuff like these, too.?

?Really? Oh yeah?I think I?ve heard you before talking about your grandfather?? I replied as he continued to examine my Pok?mon.

When he finished examining my Pok?mon, he returned them to me, and my Pok?dex. ?Well they are pretty strong?but I think you should evolve some of them.?

I looked at my Pok?mon. They seem pretty well to what they are right now. I?m not sure if I can evolve them right now. ?How can I evolve them right now?? I asked him. ?I don?t know much about evolution??

As I said the sentence, he quickly took Abby, Doga, and Damien. ?Gary, do you know these guys could evolve when you trade them??

I looked at him with a confused look. ?Evolve? Trading??

?Yeah! And I think I saw Marina give you those metal coats, right??

I nodded.

?Well that?s great! Just make your Onix and your Scyther hold them while I get ready for the trade.?

?What are you going to trade?? I questioned him as I readied my three Pok?mon.

He took out his small trading machine that I?ve seen before. He then took out his three Pok?balls. ?Oh some of my Pok?mon. I bet you?ve seen them before,? He replied as he showed them to me. I could see his Mightyena, his Beautifly, and my Magneton from before.

?Hey, isn?t that my Magneton?? I asked him all of the sudden.

He nodded in reply. ?Yep it is! It?s really useful and I don?t think you?ve seen it in my battles. But I kicked Foster?s but with it!?

?Foster? You already beat him??

?Yeah, he was easy?? He readied his Pok?balls. ?Did you have your Pok?mon hold those items??

I nodded affirmatively and readied my Pok?balls. First up was Abby. I placed her Pok?ball under the suction cup-like tube. Then, Nick placed his Mightyena?s Pok?ball under the other side of the machine, just beneath the suction cup tube. With a flash of light, our Pok?mon were traded. Then, Nick pushed a few buttons and our Pok?balls transferred once more.

I looked down at Abby and noticed her changing in the Pok?ball. She grew taller compared to her old form and she gained two spoons in both hands. I noticed that she?s grown bigger than her older form.

?Next!? Nick exclaimed as he took out his Beautifly.

I took out Doga?s Pok?ball and peered it. My Onix looked back at me with a metal coat in its mouth. The metal coat glittered as Doga fidgeted in its ball, making it shake a bit. I placed his Pok?ball under the suction cup like tube and Nick placed his Beautifly on the other side. In a blink of an eye, they were quickly exchanged and then, they were exchanged immediately.

I quickly took Doga?s rumbling Pok?ball and looked inside. Doga was changing. Its body became shinier and its head grew bigger. Its jaw became wider as it looked ferociously at me. I smirked seeing such a cool looking Pok?mon.

I took out Damien?s Pok?ball without hesitation next. I watched Magneton traded along with my Schyter. Then, they were exchanging once more. I looked at my Schyter and now, it was red rather than green. It had metal claws, snapping at me. Its wings looked heavy and metallic. Its shining read body gleamed as I examined it, holding it up in the air. I couldn?t stop smiling gleefully.

?This is so cool!? I exclaimed. ?Thanks, Nick!?

?No problem!? Nick replied as he smiled with me. He kept his mini trading machine in his bag. ?I?m just happy I helped you, Gary!?

I smiled back as I placed my Pok?balls in my pocket.

?By the way, Gary,? Nick began as I looked up at him. He seems to have a concerned face. ?The morning you left, Michelle was really silent. She?s still quiet even now. Do you know what happened to her??

I looked at him with an alarmed expression. I didn?t want to tell him of the incident. I didn?t want to. ?I don?t know?? I replied as I scratched my head and tried to hide my expression.

Nick eyed me with suspicion but then smiled again. ?Okay. Beat Sabrina for me!?

Chapter 64: Another challenge​

I summed up my courage as I looked up at a familiar sight. I was once more in front of Saffron city gym. I know it might be dangerous since Pryce might pop out at any moment right now?but I wanted to get my seventh badge so badly.

I walked up to the gym and twisted the knob. As I walked inside, it felt as if my body was in autopilot. I didn?t remember myself walking along the halls of the gym. I found myself in front of the massive stadium at once. The roof was now repaired and there were now spotlights, unlike the last time.

?Calm down,? I thought to myself. ?I?m sure she knows I?m here.?

As I thought those words, she immediately stepped out of the shadows. ?I?m glad you made it this far, Gary,? Sabrina smiled as she came up in front of me. ?I see you?ve grown stronger both mentally and by your Pok?mon.?

I nodded slowly, not knowing what to reply. I gulped as I took out my Pok?ball. ?I want the challenge now,? I stammered.

?Very well?you do not need to be nervous, Gary,? She replied calmly. She walked to the other side. I heard a clap and the spotlights brightened. The light was so intense I could now see the whole battlefield. It was a huge marble floor with Sabrina on the far side.

?Are you ready?? I heard her yell.

?I am!? I replied back as I took out my Pok?ball.

I saw her summon out a Pok?mon. I squinted to see what Pok?mon it was and immediately knew that it was a Mr. Mime. I smirked, feeling my confidence increase. ?Doga!? I yelled as I threw my Great Ball.

Doga immediately came out. He looked ferocious since he towered compared to that Mr. Mime. His intimidating face glowered down at the Mr. Mime. Mr. Mime shivered as Doga snapped its jaws at it.

Sabrina simply stared Doga and smirked. ?You win this badge if you defeat my three Pok?mon with your three Pok?mon.? She said as she held up a circular yellow badge. ?Now, let?s start. Barrier!?

In front of Mr. Mime, I could see something shine but then disappears. I?ve seen this attack before. It?s an invisible wall that physical attacks couldn?t penetrate easily. I tried to think of a way of penetrating this barrier?

?Your move,?

I calmed myself down, thinking of a good solution. But then, I realized something. ?Doga, crunch!?

Doga lunged forward, through the barrier and opened its jaws. It then closed its mouth quickly, crunching Mr. Mime. It recoiled back and tried to recover from the fall.

?Impressive,? I heard Sabrina yell as Doga quickly returned to his position while his body clanged.

I wasn?t completely sure if Sabrina would be this easy. She might be hiding something else?

?Barrier!? Sabrina yelled again. Again, Mr. Mime waved its arms in intricate ways, strengthening the previous barrier.

I didn?t notice her plan. ?Use crunch again, Doga!?

Doga lunged forward, loudly with its clanging body, and used a crunch attack on Mr. Mime again.

?Psychic!? Sabrina yelled as her Mr. Mime recovered from the attack. Mr. Mime waved its arms in a strange way and sent out a powerful, invisible psychic wave. The wave hit Doga but it didn?t affect it much. Doga just shook off the attack and glared back at Mr. Mime.

?It?s time to finish it,? I yelled as I pointed towards Mr. Mime. ?Iron tail!? In my arrogance, I forgot about the barriers. As Doga swung its glowing tail towards Mr. Mime, it suddenly froze on its tracks.

?Gotcha,? Sabrina smirked cleverly. ?Use another psychic attack!?

Her Mr. Mime launched another invisible psychic attack and hit Doga, who seems to be paralyzed. Again, the attack didn?t faze Doga much.

?What happened?? I muttered to myself. I looked over to Sabrina but she simply smiled back at me. ?Okay then, crunch!? Doga seems to have been released somehow and lunged towards Mr. Mime. But as it opened its mouth to attack, Doga suddenly froze. Its mouth was still wide open. ?No!?

?Psychic towards the mouth!? Sabrina commanded her Mr. Mime. The attack connected this time but with full force since the attack went inside Doga and not through his metal armor.

My Steelix roared in pain as it squirmed and struggled. As the attack ended, Doga fainted. I returned him immediately and readied my next Pok?mon. ?Gabby, win this for me!? I released my Milotic. Out came a long, elegant pink Pok?mon with bright red eyes and a fan on the end of its tail. It fanned itself with its tail as it looked at Mr. Mime luxuriously.

Sabrina smirked. ?Barrier again,?

Mr. Mime waved its arms once more and created another invisible barrier. I figured out that when she used barrier last time for Doga, she somehow created an invisible box that stopped Doga in his tracks. Now, I?m not falling for the same trap.

?Gabby, ice beam!? I yelled, pointing at Mr. Mime.

Gabby inhaled and sent out a blue beam from its mouth and towards Mr. Mime. It was a direct hit as the ice beam penetrated the barrier and hit Mr. Mime. The attack formed ice crystals around Mr. Mime and froze it. I could see Sabrina grit her teeth at a distance.

?Good, now use hydro pump!? I commanded my Milotic. Gabby inhaled again and sent out a powerful surge of water towards Mr. Mime. The attack hit and caused Mr. Mime to defrost. Now, it fainted.

?Very impressive,? Sabrina smirked as she returned her Pok?mon. She took out an Ultra Ball and threw it. Out came a bug Pok?mon with shining wings. Its purple body emitted clouds of brown dust as it flapped its humongous wings. Its big bug eyes stared at Gabby and me.

?That?s not a psychic type Pok?mon,? I remarked as I examined it. ?I think it?s a bug type.?

?Correct,? Sabrina said as she folded her arms. ?Venomoths may be bug types, they still have psychic powers.?

?Oh well, let?s continue! Gabby, use ice beam!?

?Double team,? Sabrina said calmly. Venomoth immediately multiplied into many different duplicates. My ice beam struck the Venomoth that was there but the ice beam simply went through the Venomoth.

?Darn,? I murmured as I tried to figure out which one was the real Venomoth. The duplicates started to surround Gabby as I thought of a plan. ?Gabby, try the one that?s directly right of you!?

Gabby fired an ice beam to the left but it wasn?t the real one. The ice beam simply went through the Venomoth and hit the wall, freezing it.

?Futile,? Sabrina muttered. ?Gigadrain!? The Venomoths all went to the far left and formed one Venomoth. It formed a small, shining green ball on its mouth. Small, shining green lights came out of Gabby. Soon, a multitude of these balls came out of Abby. My Milotic seems to be weakened since it gasped for air as the attack finished. After the attack was executed, Venomoth returned once more in multiple forms.

?Ice beam on your left!? I yelled. Gabby inhaled once more and fired a blue beam to where I think the real Venomoth is. It turned out that I?m wrong. The attack was a failure since the ice beam went through the Venomoth. As this happened, the Venomoths formed one Venomoth once more.

?Stun spore!? Sabrina yelled. Immediately, Venomoth flapped its wings and sent out purple dusts towards Milotic.

My mind raced as I tried to find a way to block the attack. The cloud of dust was heading to Gabby quickly. ?Blizzard!? I yelled. I remembered that blizzard was an ice and wind attack. I bet this one will send it back to Venomoth.

The whole stadium turned cold as my Milotic roared. I felt a rush of wind from behind me and headed straight towards Venomoth. Snow from Milotic scattered around as I realized that the attack was a success. The blizzard blew of the stun spore back towards Venomoth.

?Very good,? Sabrina smirked as she brushed of snow from her clothes. Snow was littered everywhere and her Venomoth was struggling to stay flying.

?Finish it off with a hydro pump!? I yelled. My Milotic sent out another powerful blast of water towards Venomoth. This time, the attack connected and Venomoth was slammed to the wall.

Sabrina returned her Venomoth and took out her last Pok?ball. I braced myself as she summoned out her last Pok?mon?an Alakazam.

?This is it,? I thought to myself as I gripped my fist. ?I?m going to win this?? I immediately knew what I?m going to do. ?Recover!? Gabby glowed a bright blue color. As the glowing stopped, her wounds disappeared immediately. Now I?m ready.

?Good strategy?but not good enough?? Sabrina muttered. ?Thunder punch?? At a long distance, Sabrina?s Alakazam teleported in front of Abby and with a bright, glowing fist, it punched Abby directly to the face.

?Gabby!? I yelled as she recoiled back and growled at Alakazam, which simply teleported back to where it was before it attacked Gabby. ?Hydro pump!? I yelled. Gabby sent out a surge of water towards Alakazam. Instead of hitting it, Alakazam waved its two spoons and caused the water to go into its right. ?What??

Sabrina chuckled. ?This is how true psychics battle. You use their greatest powers and try to manipulate them in many ways,?

?Whatever,? I muttered arrogantly.

?Very well. Thunder punch again!?

As she said her command, her Alakazam teleported in front of Gabby again with its glowing fist ready to strike.

?Gabby, dodge it!? But it was too late. As I said the words, the attack already connected and caused massive damage to Gabby. ?You alright, Gabby?? I yelled to her. She simply let out a low growl of appreciation but still wanted to fight. ?Okay, good. Use recover!?

Gabby?s body glowed once more a bright blue color and then it disappeared. Gabby?s wounds disappeared at once.

?That won?t work this time,? Sabrina commented. ?Finish it off with thunder punch.? Her Alakazam quickly teleported and reappeared in front of Gabby. Before I could hesitate, it already hit Gabby directly to the face. Gabby was sent flying due to the force of the punch. She crashed to the wall, making it crack.

I returned her at once and thought of the Pok?mon I?m going to use next. Now, I better win this or else I?m going to have to challenge Sabrina once more. And that would be pretty much painful.

?Blaze, let?s do this!? I yelled as I threw my Pok?ball, releasing Blaze. My Charizard towered Sabrina?s Alakazam as it growled and flapped its wings. It stomped the ground with its large legs as it glared at Alakazam.

Sabrina simply smirked as she folded her arms comfortably. ?Psychic,? She said immediately even before I could react.

Alakazam sent out an invisible psychic wave towards Blaze as it crossed its spoons. Fly up, Blaze!? I yelled. Blaze obeyed as it flew up, dodging the psychic attack. ?Flamethrower!?

Blaze sent out a high-speed blast of fire towards Alakazam. However, Alakazam simply pushed it off the attack to its left. ?How did it do that?? I yelled out frustratingly. That was the second time it did that?

Sabrina smirked again. ?Thunder punch!? She said lazily. Her Alakazam responded as it teleported and reappeared, afloat, near Blaze.

?Dodge the attack!? I yelled to Blaze. My words echoed through the whole gym. Blaze dodged the attack and immediately landed softly on the ground. It roared at Alakazam as it flapped its wings.

?Very impressive,? Sabrina remarked. ?But how long will we keep doing this??

I didn?t reply as my mind raced to what should I do next. ?Blaze, use flamethrower!? I yelled. Blaze sent out another powerful stream of fire towards Alakazam. Again, Alakazam just sent it to the right once more. I did the attack again and again and again.

?Is that all? Futile efforts and mindless firing?? Sabrina taunted me.

?Flamethrower again, Blaze!? I yelled. Blaze sent out a powerful flamethrower once more. Again Alakazam shoved it off to the right. But this time, the flamethrower was just a diversion. Sabrina or her Alakazam didn?t notice Blaze flying towards Alakazam at high-speed. ?Crush claw!? I yelled.

With two glowing claws, Blaze slashed Alakazam. It recoiled back with two huge slash marks on its body.

?Wing attack!? Blaze was still in midair as he positioned himself for a wing attack. The distraught Alakazam, which was still recovering from the crush claw attack, was severely hit by Blaze?s wing attack. The momentum of Blaze?s flight was enough to deal damage to Alakazam but it wasn?t enough.

Blaze returned quickly to where it was after performing at that attack. Sabrina looked in awe to see what damage was given to her Alakazam. It tired to stand up and succeeded as it poised itself for battle again.

?That was very clever of you, using your flamethrower as a diversion. But it wasn?t enough. Recover!?

To my horror, her Alakazam glowed a blue color and simply healed up its injuries.

?Oh no,? I muttered. I forgot all about Alakazam?s recover. The attack that Blaze just performed tired out Blaze and now that I?ve performed it, I was already out of ideas. Sabrina couldn?t fall for the same trap again and I?m sure of it!

?I?m expecting more from you, Gary.? She smiled. ?Now, let us continued.?

Chapter 65: Mending a shattered heart​

I let out a frustrated sigh as I thought of my plan. My mind was blank and I couldn?t think of anything else to do. My last plan was a success but it just made me spill out my plans.

?It?s your turn, Gary,? Sabrina repeated for the third time.

?Blaze, fly forward!? I yelled. He obeyed and flew forward at once, readying his claws for an attack.

As Blaze moved closer and closer, Sabrina didn?t command any attack. She just waited there as Blaze was approaching her Alakazam. Finally, as I was about to call out the attack, she finally made a move during that split second. ?Psychic!?

?No!? I yelled as Blaze received a direct hit from the attack. Blaze roared and growled as he was thrown back. He used his wings to regain balance in the air.

?Thunder punch!? Sabrina commanded her Alakazam once more. It teleported then reappeared in front of Blaze again, who was still recovering from the close range attack. It readied its fist, which are glowing a yellow color.

It was a split second decision to never give up. ?Dodge to the left!? I yelled to Blaze. He immediately obeyed and moved his body to the left, and was almost hit by Alakazam. It was as if everything was in slow motion. I found my opportunity as Alakazam stretched its hand, slowly.

?Crush claw!? Now that Blaze had enough time to recover from the attack, he gathered up his strength and then slashed Alakazam with two glowing claws. The attack was a direct his and made Alakazam land on the floor face down. ?Fire blast!? I yelled. Blaze sent out a wheel of fire towards the downed Alakazam. This time, it didn?t reflect the attack. It was a direct hit. The Fire Blast blackened the floor and the back of Sabrina?s Alakazam.

Blaze landed on the ground with a soft thud and roared. His roars were heard through the whole stadium. I?ve finally won out of desperation. ?Yes!? I yelled.

Sabrina walked up to her Alakazam and lifted it up and returned it to its Pok?ball. ?Bravo,? She said as she clapped her hands. ?A very impressive battle indeed. You?ve finally won my respect. You are Green?s son.? She then took out the Marsh Badge. The golden circular badge gleamed as the bright lights shined on it. ?Take this, you deserve it very much,?

I took the badge from her hand. My hands were still shaking as a wide grin spread throughout my face. One more badge left?

?Now, I know of the current situations. It?s best that you head to Viridian city without walking there. I?m sure there are dangers on the land.? She said lazily. ?For your protection,?

As I walked out of the northern gates of Saffron city, I tried to remember where Nick and the others were. But to my surprise, my friends were already waiting outside, with the absence of Toshin, Makoto, Sakaki, and Silver.

?Huh? Where are the others?? I asked Nick as he cheered and rushed to me. Michelle and Emily followed his slowly.

?Oh them? They left?they say they got some business to do.? Nick smiled and quickly changed the subject. ?So did you win the badge, Gary? Did you? Did you?? He asked excitedly.

?Yeah, I did!? I said as I held up my Marsh badge along with my other badges.

?Awesome! Now we have one more gym to go before we go to the league!? He exclaimed happily.

I wasn?t paying attention to him?kind of?I was looking behind him?Michelle and Emily looked at me. Michelle looked at me with her sullen eyes but with a weak smile. Emily simply looked at me with her old reaction?the one that I?ve seen when I first met her?the gleam in her eyes was gone.

?Gary? You listening??

??What? Oh! Oh yeah?one more badge?? I quickly replied as I snapped out of my trance.

?Something wrong, Gary?? Nick asked as he looked at me.

?No, nothing. So, you want to go to Viridian?? I said as I tried not to look on both girls.

He nodded. ?Sure, well, if you want to fly there, I don?t know if they would like to.? He turned around to the girls. ?Her, you guys want to fly to Viridian city??

Michelle simply shrugged. ?Dunno?if you want to?? She muttered.

?I?m taking that as a yes,? Nick said quickly. He then turned to me. ?Oh?by the way, Gary. We don?t have any flying Pok?mon, so can we borrow your Pok?mon?? He asked me as he grinned guiltily.

?Well, uh, sure!? I replied as I took out Sage?s Pok?ball. ?Here you go!?

He quickly took it out from my hands and smiled gleefully. ?Thanks, Gary! You?re the man!?

I smiled sheepishly as he told Michelle about flying. I didn?t notice Emily walk up to me and tug my sleeve. I turned around and ended up meeting her silver eyes.

?Emily??

?Gary?I want to?I want to thank you for healing daddy?? She said in a low voice. She looked down at the ground. I could see a small twinkle in her eyes. She was wearing a small smile on her face.

?Oh, no problem!? I replied.

?I shouldn?t have ran away?? She muttered. ?I should?ve stayed?that wouldn?t have happened if I didn?t ran away??

?What? Oh no it?s not you?don?t blame yourself!? I tried my best effort to cheer her up. ?It?s?It?s my fault, too?? My voice lowered. As I said the words, she looked up at me.

?Gary?I just wish you?you would know how I feel?? She said sadly as she held my hand. Her hand was cold but her skin was soft.

?Emily?I?m really sorry?in a way?I?m the one who you should blame. But I don?t want to hurt you?? I said, trying my best to comfort her but her sad eyes tried to pull out the words inside me.

?You guys ready?? Nick said all of the sudden.

I looked up to him and felt Emily?s hand loosen and let go. ?Yeah, we are!? I replied quickly. Michelle eyed me suspiciously from behind Nick.

?Alright! Now let?s go to Viridian city!?

Nick summoned out Sage immediately and I summoned out Blaze. Even though Blaze was slightly injured from before, the Pok?mon center was pretty quick to heal him. Michelle climbed behind Sage?s back along with Nick at her front. I helped Emily climb up to Blaze?s back.

?You ready?? I asked her. I felt her nod as she wrapped her arms around my back tightly. Inside, I knew she still felt the same thing as she did back then?but I couldn?t?back then I couldn?t?

As my Pok?mon rose up to the sky, I looked at her. She had her eyes closed shut. Her red hair waved as the wind ran through us. Then, I looked forward. It would be a matter of moments before everything in my life would be changed forever?

It took just an hour to reach Viridian city. We were still up in the air and below us I could see the familiar city that I?ve visited when I began the training. The same tall buildings were still there. The city was still bustling and full of activity. To my right, I motioned Nick to land just south of Viridian city. He replied with a thumbs-up. Both of my Pok?mon surged downwards and landed softly on the ground.

?Phew! I should do that often,? Nick said as he jumped down from Sage and threw my Pok?ball. Michelle jumped down from Sage and I helped Emily. Then, I returned my Pok?mon immediately.

?I?m really fired up!? Nick exclaimed. ?I?m going to challenge the leader, want to follow, Gary??

I shook my head. ?No thanks. I?ll challenge her tomorrow,? I muttered.

?Oh yeah! I remembered when we first met you here in Viridian city!? Nick suddenly exclaimed. ?And Michelle got beat by the leader, huh?? He nudged Michelle with a grin.

Michelle simply groaned in annoyance and crossed her arms.

?Hey, what?s wrong with you? You?re supposed to fight back at me!?

?Whatever,? She muttered as she looked around.

?Whatever? Are you getting angry again just because the leader beat you last time?? Nick yelled.

Michelle shook her head and ignored Nick. Nick simply sighed frustratingly. ?Oh well?I?ll be seeing you guys later!?

I waved as Nick wandered of to the city. Now, it?s just the girls and me. It was noon and my stomach started to rumble. ?Oh yeah, didn?t ate breakfast,? I muttered as I looked at both girls. ?You girls want to go find food or something??

Michelle simply shrugged and Emily didn?t reply.

?Oh well,? I muttered to myself. ?I?ll go to the city then.?

?Hey, wait!? Michelle yelled as I began to walk away. ?I?m following you!?

As I predicted, Emily decided to follow to since she doesn?t want to be alone out in this wilderness.

?Oh well?? I muttered as we walked towards the city.

When I finally found food, they were hungry, too. I was forced to share my sandwich with them. We were all sitting on the bench at the park in Viridian city. I was in the middle, Emily was at my right and Michelle was at my left. It looked kind of weird when you look it in one way.

Emily looked down at the ground while she was playing with her red hair, curling it with her fingers. Michelle just stared at the opposite direction and I couldn?t figure out what to do?

?So?um?so, how?s it going?? I said out of nowhere. ?We guys?haven?t?sorta talked to each other for a while??

?I?m?fine?? Michelle replied weakly.

I looked at Emily and she didn?t reply. She was still busy playing with her hair.

?Oh well?? I muttered to myself.

?Gary,? Michelle said shyly. ?Can?can I talk to you for a second?? She asked. ?Privately??

I looked at Emily and she didn?t seem to pay any attention at all.

?Okay,? I agreed to her. ?Can you stay here for a while, Emily?? I asked her.

She nodded slowly and continued to play with her hair. Michelle grabbed my hand as she led me to where Emily couldn?t hear. It was just behind a tree near the bench to where Emily sat.

?Something wrong?? I asked her as we stopped.

?What do you mean ?something wrong??? She snapped at me. Suddenly, her eyes were violent. ?You know what?s wrong!?

?Michelle?? I stammered. ?I told you before??

?I?m sick of this!? Michelle snapped at me. ?Why do you always have to be like this Gary??

?Have to be what?? I was pretty much puzzled and don?t know what else to say.

?Gary! Don?t be so dumb! I?I just?? Tears began to form in her eyes. ?You always have to be so kind on Emily and me?and yet?you just couldn?t accept how we both love you??

?But what do you want? I?ve already heard enough of this!? My voice was rising as usual. I could feel my heart beating rapidly. I clenched my fists as she looked at me with her saddened eyes.

?Gary?I really want to?I really want you to kiss me?? She blushed as she said those words. Of course I was stunned since I haven?t actually kissed a girl before and she?s asking for one?

My mind raced for my course of action. I couldn?t think. She closed her eyes and waited for me. I was starting to panic since I didn?t know what to do?

As time passed, I was feeling as if a minute was a day in my life. She waited and she waited?

Finally, I had no choice but to kiss her on the cheek. As I quickly separated from her, she was blushing and smiling at the same time. ?Thanks,? She said sweetly.

She then turned around and walked towards the bench where Emily sat. She sat next to her and didn?t say a word during the whole day?
