I just recently downloaded a public tileset, however the background is not transparent. I have had this problem with a lot of tilesets. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make the background transparent on downloaded tilesets?

(If you need me too I'll show you what tileset I'm talking about)

Did you import the tileset properly into RMXP? Don't copy a graphic file directly into your game folder. Instead, go to the "materials" section, and under "tilesets", import your graphic through there. You'll be able to specify the transparent color that way.

See, the problem is, the background isn't white. It's not even just one color I could just click transparent on. The background is a grid with blue and yellow squares... I'm not quite sure on how to go about making that transparent since there are two colors in the background, and neither of them are white.

These are the tilesets I'm having trouble with if anyone knows how I can make the background transparent, please enlighten me.

You have two choices. You either import them properly, which will give you the option of defining the background color as transparant, or you use some image editing software, in which you can set the background transparent, such as GIMP.

    I see.

For that, you need to go to an image editing software, and make EVERY background color consistent, or do what Giu said, but either way you actually need to edit those images yourself.

    I hope that helps.

Guys I have also this problem when I tried to add grass tiles in cave... But for me the transparency is black! please help me!

Your problem is, while it may be transparent, it is put on the wrong layer - anything transparent, eg, does not take up the entire 32x32 tile, put on the 1st layer will have black where the transparency is, as there is nothing "under" it - you need to put it on layer 2, or 3 in order for something to be underneath the tile.
