Damian wasn't quite sure what he had been suspecting, but it sure wasn't the sight that was before him the moment they came into view of the Kanto region. They had come into view of a town, though Damian wasn't sure which town, that was practically burning to the ground. Actually, it had already done the burning. Now all that seemed left of the town were ruined houses and horrible disfigured landscape. Damian blinked, and asked the rider what town that was. When he responded that it was, in fact, Pallet Town, Damian couldn't hold back a gasp. His home town had been reduced to rubble and ash. They came to land, and Damian hopped off the Salamence without even taking note that the rider had flown away, leaving Damian on the horrid ground alone.

He could hardly believe that the ruin lying underneath his feet was once Pallet Town. Damian swallowed a harsh breath and felt his fists clench involuntarily. He had also forgotten Charmeleon was there, but soon felt a clawed hand poke his own. Damian tore his eyes away from the town and looked at Charmeleon, a harsh gaze on his features. Charmeleon stared at him silently and then nudged his leg, silently willing Damian forward. Damian opened his mouth to say something to his faithful Pokemon, but once again no sound came from his lips. He licked said lips and then opened his mouth once more.

"What...Charmeleon, what do you think happened here?" Damian whispered, rage dissipating to sadness. Charmeleon glanced around and looked at Damian simply. Damian wondered that himself. Was it a legendary Pokemon? Damian swallowed harshly at that thought. He wouldn't have thought they would do something like this... Damian blinked. But what if it was that evil team? Or the other one? Damian ground his teeth together, loathing filling his mind and body. Just as he was about to speak again, he heard a dark chuckle behind him. Damian whipped around to face the person.

Whoever he was, the man had on a gray and black uniform. His hair was an odd color of red. Not the red orange that is normally spotted, but a perfect hue of an actual red color. Damian's eyes narrowed, boring into the man's. Soon his eyes widened as he realized that this man had red eyes to match his hair. Seconds later, a sinister grin stretched across the man's face, making him look harsh and possibly even a bit deadly. Damian ran his tongue along his teeth as he leered. Charmeleon was now tense as well, apparently disliking this person already.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" he questioned almost sarcastically. Damian's lip curled into a sneer. "A lone trainer? An inexperienced Team Euro member?"

Damian held back a snarl. "I'm freaking experienced enough to kick your butt," he snapped, eyebrows pulling together. "Did you do this to my town?!" he shouted, motioning at the rubble lying around them. The man simply shrugged. Damian glared harder. "I don't care if I'm an inexperienced Team Euro member, you're going down," he snarled. Charmeleon growled in agreement.

Finally, the man decided to reply. "Yes, Team Tractus destroyed this pathetic town," he stated, glancing around with an air of superiority. Damian felt himself start to tremble from the anger. "We watched as the residents fled or even some crushed themselves as they stampeded out of the town like a herd of scared Tauros!"

Damian's fingers twitched as suddenly a fleeting image of his sister ripped through his brain. Moments after, his parents and their Arcanine appeared in his eyes as well. Damian glanced down at Charmeleon, but then thought better of it. He grabbed Nidorino's Pokeball, hardly able to see because of how angry he was.

"It was fun to watch," the man said, grinning that same grin.

Damian could hardly contain himself. He wanted to run over there and knock the guy's block off so bad. "How dare you?!" Damian snarled. "You had no right to do that!"

"Oh?" the man questioned, cocking an eyebrow. "Well, let's see you say that after I take your Pokemon and beat you to the floor in a battle."

"You can try," Damian snapped. "But you're going down."

Luna nearly burst into tears once the familiar scent of her homeland filled the air and she could finally see the ground below her, the ocean lapping at every shore. She hugged Marshtomp tightly, squinting hard to stop the tears rolling.

"Welcome to Hoenn, Marshtomp," Luna whispered to her partner. Marshtomp directly up at her, smiling before scanning the area below. The water type Pokemon then looked back at her trainer with worried eyes. Confused, Luna cranned her neck, staring at the ground below her for something that told her why Marshtomp was worried.

The pure and clean air was suddenly filled with black smoke, making both Luna and Marshtomp cough terribly whilst the Team Euro rider tried with difficulty to steer his Salamence to safety. Littleroot Town, the designated beginning town of Hoenn, was in ruins. Most of the houses were no longer standing, walls crumbling beneath a fire that still ripped through the small town. Trees were turned to piles of ash whilst some were uprooted, lying with their roots bared, defeated.

Luna's feeling of happiness and relief turned into fury very quickly. A nod of thanks was all she gave to the rider who, with a face of sympathy, very quickly retreated to the air once more after dropping Luna and Marshtomp off.

"Who did this?" Luna asked herself, gritting her teeth as she circled, staring at the ruins. She could not believe anyone would do this. It seemed like a dream, a very bad dream.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" A sinister voice chuckled.

Luna turned, frantically scanning the area for the sign of life before she laid eyes upon the man who had emerged out of nowhere. His red hair contrasted to his black and grey uniform. Luna shivered absentmindedly before quickly locating Marshtomp who rushed to her side.

"A lone trainer?" The man continued, taking a step closer to Luna and Marshtomp. "An inexperienced Team Euro member?"

Luna, in her fury, took a couple of deep breaths, her chest rising and falling heavily with each one. Her eyes narrowed.

"How could you do this to the town! The people and Pokemon who lived here, you just ruined their lives - they were good people! They deserve to be here! You, on the other hand, probably shouldn't be alive right now."

Luna was shocked at herself for saying such things to a man she did not know but she was past talking nicely about the situation at hand.

"Yes, Team Tractus destroyed this pathetic town," The man spoke. "We watched as the residents fled and some even crushed themselves as they stampeded out of the town like a herd of scared Tauros!"

The man's cruel laugh echoed amongst the empty town. Luna instinctively grabbed for a Pokeball that now resided on her belt.

"It was fun to watch," he grinned again.

"How dare you?!" Luna screamed at him, her blood now boiling. "You have no right do that!"

"Oh?" The man prompts. "Well, let's see you say that after I take your Pokemon and beat you to the floor in a battle."

"Bring it on," Luna replied sharply before releasing Trapinch.

    "No, please!"
The pleading echo bounced off the empty walls and was sent running across the room. Soft cries of terror followed closely after that. The voice was scared, there were hints of fear filled sobs ever so often. In the room on a pure white pillow was a mess of dirty blonde hair. Claire's head was half hidden beneath the comforter but the water marks spread across her face were in plain sight. More wet tears streaked down her cheeks, she tossed and turned as if trying to run. Here pale brown eyes were closed shut. She had her fingers wrapped around the blankets, holding on as if in a fight for her life.

"Leave me alone!" She cried out loudly and suddenly with a shudder shot straight up into a sitting position.

Her eyes flew open and rapidly scanned the room around her. She felt sharp shivers crawl down her spine, and she slowly raised her hand to her heart. It was beating at the speed of light.

"Just a dream, it was all a dream" She whispered reassuringly to herself, but it didn't seem to work. Still after moment of silence she started to relax. Her shoulders dropped from where they were bundled to her body. With her other hand she reached to touch her lower back and with her fingers traced the familiar scar left there. Ever since it happened she begged to forget that day. Somehow and someway it always seemed to find her again.

She could still see the eyes of the Nidoran, she could feel her fear of when it charged at her. Turning around to run had not helped one bit. She removed her hand from the scare and instead wiped away the tears. The dream had felt as real as the first time to her. It was like looking back on the past and being useless to undo what had been done already.

"Croconaaaw" A voice broke her from her thoughts and she jumped with surprise. There on a bed made of pure pillows laid her blue Pokémon. His own worry for her showed clearly in his big orange eyes. Kroc carefully picked his way among the other sleep Pokémon around him and crept to her bedside. She sighed deeply and moved her hand over his smooth head. She examined him closely and realized how much he had changed since evolving.

More red spikes were added along his head and down his back, he looked tougher, but he was ever so gentle with her. With a hard heave he dragged himself up on the bed to sit next to her. He pressed his oddly warm body against her, and she just had to smile. Just a dream She said to herself. He started to lie down next to her when she suddenly threw off her covers and jumped from her bed. Her eyes were intent on the strange note left on the desk across the room. The strangest thing about it was the uniform placed right beside. She reached the desk and grabbed the note in her hand. On the note was a picture of an Infernape and writing addressed to her. It read…

    Dear Claire;

You have battled incredibly well and from what I can see, your team trusts you. My captains and I have come to the decision that you, alone, will travel the region in which you came from and take down the teams and calm the legendaries. However, if you ever need help, and at times you will, there is a button on the uniform (which is also the Team Euro badge) where it will contact me or my captains and we will come to your aid.

Much is in store for you, my friend. Not just a history in Team Euro, but your region will look upon you as a hero. In hope, you'll also befriend many Pokémon, strengthening your team. That's how my journey went when I was your age.

Now, onto your bag which lies next to the uniform - Inside it contains some special items as well as $5000. It can be used to purchase necessary items such as food, medicine, Pokéballs, etc.

Now, get ready, my friend. Use the bathroom in your dorm and get ready for you'll be heading to your region today. Meet me and my captains in the main room and we'll tell you more on your missions.

    Sincerely,
    Team Euro Leader Selen
    e

She felt a wave of warmth spread threw her. A member of Team Euro, that was catchy. She turned to look at the uniform and grabbed it quickly, holding it to her chest.

"This is it guys" She said and twirled around the room.

Flash, her bright yellow Pikachu, gave a huff of annoyance to his rude awakening and almost at once his bright red cheeks lit up with sparks of electricity.

"Time to get up" She said and slowly shook the Marowak still sleeping.

Skull opened his eyes just barely before turning over to sleep again. Claire's happiness was replaced with anger and she grabbed the blankets made into a bed and tugged them right out from under him.

"Marowaaaaaak!" He screeched as he hit the floor.

"You will know better next time then" She said and got up for kneeling.

With the Uniform and letter close in hand she bolted off into the bathroom, looking behind her quickly to make sure her Pokémon didn't follow.

    ****

After she had gotten herself suited in the uniform she decided it was only best that her Pokémon should go back in their Pokéballs. She had set the balls on her belt and stuffed the money in her pocket carefully. Time for today, and whatever it brings She thought to herself feeling completely confident. She walked to her door and slowly opened it.

There was a large hall with many other rooms around it, but Claire just kept walking. Soon as she neared the end she entered into a large main area and there stood Selene with other people as well. Selene slowly stepped forward to speak.

"There is no more time for training. It is time for you'll to go to your regions. Outside, some of our other members will fly you to your region. We will call you whenever we need to. A microphone is installed in your uniform and your badge will flash if one of us is calling. To answer, you just have to press the badge." She said.

Claire could feel the joy light up inside of her. Selene walked towards the doors she once entered before and gestures for Claire to follow. She did what was told and walked outside the door. She stopped to let the bright morning sun flood over her with delight. There were members of Team Euro, obviously, outside standing closely by their Salamences. Selene pointed to each and one by one said the region they are heading to.

"Claire, you ride this one. Your destination is Johto" Selene announced.

She was going home! Claire walked over to the Team Euro member and saw it was the same man she had when he first picked her up.

"Nice to see you again," He said with a smile "hop on"

She got up in the back of the Pokémon, knowing how this time. She seated herself comfortably before turning to Selene. Selene nodded as the other trainers took off then turned to Claire "Good luck" And with that a nod. All of a sudden the Salamence took off into the air and they were finally on their way home. Kroc, Flash, and even Skull would see her house! She could feel the excitement well up inside of her. But one thought caught in her mind, what had changed since she had been away?

They streaked across the sky for what seemed like a life time, but truly only a few mere hours had passed when the region had come into view. From this far up no one could tell the difference since the last time they were there, if there were any. Claire could feel her heart spread with joy at the feeling of finally returning home.

The past days she had spent away made her even more anxious to arrive. They descended fast, flying towards the ground. Yet slowly the Salamence landed gracefully on its feet. The Pokémon was quite heavy though and dust went flying all around them. She covered her eyes with her arm and waited until she believed the dust had cleared.

"Here we are" said the man in front of her.

His usually dark brown hair had been covered with dust and she just couldn't hold back a chuckle. She jumped from the Salamence and felt her feet hit the ground, she had returned. Darren, the guy on the Salamence who she recently got to know during their flight, pulled out a map and was about to give her some directions.

In an instant before he got a word out Claire flung up her hand to stop him

"I know where I am going" she said happily.

This was actually a place she knew by heart. She used to study the map so she would never get lost, one of the requirements set by her Mother.

Then it was like an explosion in her brain as memories of her deceased parent flashed before her eyes. She saw her mother weightlessly fell to the ground on her knees in despair, Claire as a little girl watched behind a cracked open door. Her father had declared that he didn't love her any more. That was the day everything changed in her life. She gasped as she was brought back to reality. This was the first true memory of her childhood she had remembered.

She tried desperately to shake it away from her mind and reminded herself to concentrate on the present. She was on a mission and she knew she couldn't let her past control her. It seemed to bother her though. This was the first time she had remembered anything that had happened before. Why now? She wondered to herself staring at the ground.

As she pondered this question her feet started to lead her towards the direction of New Bark Town. She didn't need to see where she was going, she knew it already. But suddenly she felt herself smash head on into a tree. Clumsily she fell backwards and she went crashing to the ground.

    "Oof!" she huffed.

Angrily she looked up to see the tree she had smashed into had been partially uprooted, along with the many others around it. She gasped with horror as he eyes scanned the burned buildings, everything was ruined. Swiftly she jumped to her feet and brushed off her uniform recently given to her by Team Euro. What had happened here? She walked forward slowly, checking everything she passed. She was being careful not the step on anything.

She could feel rage pulse through her body, who ever had done this would pay. She had no idea what could cause so much destruction though, the legendaries perhaps? No it couldn't be. She had to think it over some more. She raked her brain until she remembered one little detail. There were other teams besides hers. They must've done this. Hatred spread quickly and she whipped out a Pokéball. She had no idea why but something got her spooked by all of this, and a good friend beside her would help her calm down.

Out of the flash of light came her Croconaw, Kroc, looking ready for battle. She vowed to herself that she would find the one who did this. Suddenly a malicious laughter burst out from behind her. She turned around there stood a man. He was older than she was and had on a black and grey uniform. He had ugly bright red hair and scary red eyes. He had a sinister grin across his face as he stared at her with a Pokéball clutched in his hand.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" he said. "A lone trainer? An inexperienced Team Euro member, maybe?"

She could see his enjoyment, which set her off edge. Like a charging Rhyhorn she started shouted questions at him.

"Did you do this?!" she asked.

"Yes, Team Tractus destroyed this pathetic town," he spoke again. "We watched as the residents fled or even some crushed themselves as they stampeded out of the town like a herd of scared Tauros!"

That had causes her to boil over. She couldn't stand to do nothing while he stood mocking her from every angle. He was a monster and needed to be exterminated.

"It was fun to watch," he said in his laughter.

"How dare you?!" Claire screamed, moving closer to him with every step. "You have no right do that!" she cried. From the corner of her eyes she saw Kroc right beside her, ready to defend her against anything.

"Oh?" the man asks. "Well, let's see you say that after I take your Pokémon and beat you to the floor in a battle."

With a flash of light out came his own Pokémon. Standing straight in front of her, staring with its dark black eyes, was an Umbreon.

"Go ahead and try" Claire said with determination filling her voice.

Her breath quickened as the battle set in motion. This was her time to show her skills, and prove just how strong Team Euro really is. Kroc had stepped forward automatically without a word. He knew what he was getting himself into. Still Claire felt the slightest bit worried for her Pokémon. She bit her bottom lip and hesitated. She thought about what would happen if she lost, but the thought faded away and was replaced with determination.

It didn't matter if she won or lost anymore. All she knew is that this guy was going to get his butt kicked one way or the other. The one thing she did care about was sending him off crying to his headquarters. Confidence burned in her like a raging wildfire. It spread from her to her Croconaw and they were both ready for battle.

"Kroc, use Water Gun!" Claire called, raising her hand to point at the opposing team.

But this Tractus Grunt was letting her off easy. She saw, from the corner of his mouth, a grin slowly form into place. His eyes blazed with cockiness as if he knew with one glance at her he would win. Not this time.

"Umbreon, send that Pokémon into orbit with Shadow Ball" he said simply.

She watched as he relaxed and went into a comfortable position to watch the battle. He seemed way to over-confident with himself. He was in for a surprise, or so she hoped so dearly. It bothered her when he looked her as if she was a child. To incompetent to do anything, as if she needed a guide to show her the way. Anticipation welled up inside of her. If one wrong move was made it would set off the battle and she was done for. No, I will avenge my region and show this lunatic what I am made of! She vowed to herself. Thus it began.

With a cry that split through the sky light lightening Kroc stood his ground and gulfed in air. She watched as his cheeks grew wider and wider, until finally he burst. Water went flying in the direction of the Umbreon who tried to turn tail and run. As the gun of water hit the opponent she watched as the Umbreon's face turned from steadiness to being astonished by the attack.

Sadly, the darn thing didn't stay that way for long. After the water had subsided it leaped into the air as far as it could jump. It started to gather darkness from around it before her very eyes a dark blob formed and was sent flying at Kroc. He yelped with surprise as it hit him hard. He started to lose his balance and fell backwards on the ground. She found herself biting her lip hard as she watched the battle.

"Try a Crunch attack" She said, urging him to keep fighting.

As the Shadow Ball disappeared she saw his figure looming around the made battlefield. The Umbreon had returned to the ground with a look of pride that rippled through its body. Suddenly Claire saw her Croconaw launch himself at the Pokémon with fangs as tough as nails. He crunched down on the Pokémon with such ferocity it made her shiver with the chills.

"Umbreon, bite it back, come on!" Cried the grunt.

Claire had almost had forgotten his presence, but as she took notice of him once more she saw the cockiness disappear. Instead his expression held annoyance towards his Pokémon in its attempts to fight. She almost felt bad for the poor thing, and wondered if all Team Tractus members treat their Pokémon like this. Her eyes were pulled away from the grunt back to the battle. Kroc had seemed to of pinned the Umbreon under him and there he sat with its leg in his mouth. She had to hold her hand to her mouth in order to keep from laughing at the hilarious sight. Of course the Umbreon had not given up just yet. It was biting ferociously at the Croconaw everywhere it could get its teeth on.

"Use Slash then another Water Gun" she said. This was going quite well actually.

For some odd reason Claire seemed more confident now that she was where she belonged, in her home region - Johto. At least she knew her strengths, and weaknesses, now.

The grunt stopped his feet furiously on the ground. "Umbreon use Night Shade, now!" he screeched.

Kroc quickly dragged out his claws and leapt at the Umbreon. Though he was quick the opponent was as well and after her Croconaw did the Slash his was engulfed with darkness, and then it withdrew. He stood dazed and walking around in circles. The Umbreon stood panting hard off to the side with its head low.

"Kroc please, we need to beat them! If you can, use Water Gun" she called to him, hoping to bring him out of the trance.

He blinked his eyes twice before he registered what his trainer was telling him. He stopped dead in his tracks and turned around swiftly to stand in front of the Umbreon. He drew in breath one more and let out the Water Gun. It didn't seem as powerful as last time he had done the attack, but it still was aiming directly at the Pokémon.

"Dodge it!" The Tractus Grunt cried.

Acknowledging his command the Umbreon did as it was told and started to dodge the attack. Before it could make it out of the range of the water beam it was hit in the backside sending it swirling into circles. Kroc looked quite pleased with himself, even though the attack hadn't gone as planned, it worked. They watched as the Umbreon slowly spun to a stop. She looked closely at its hind legs which were trembling, before it collapsed on the ground with its red eyes closed shut tightly. She heard the Grunt wail with anger and he threw his hat on the ground. He reached for his Pokéball and withdrew the Umbreon.

His darkened gaze slowly turned to Claire with hatred. "My Umbreon didn't beat you, but I am not done yet" He vowed.

With a quick motion he threw a different Pokéball into the air. Flying out was a bird type Pokémon with a dark blue body. It screeched its call, causing Claire to hold her hands over her ears. Flying beside the Grunt was her next battle.

His Murkrow. It stared eagerly down at her with its orange eyes, ready for anything. She gritted her teeth together. Here we go again.

Claire had stopped biting her lip after the first battle. Left just below her bottom lip was a mark from her teeth that had dug into her skin. She stood staring at the Grunt with a look of disgust. They way he treated people and his Pokémon was monstrous, and it needed to stop. Her fingers tightened into fists at her side and she stood up tall with her chin raise towards the sky. She was not a child, but a young woman, and she felt that she knew a whole lot more than this guy.

"Murkrow, use Wink Attack on her Croconaw!" The Grunt said, pointing his index finger to Kroc.

The second round had commenced. Before she had a chance to get an order out for her Croconaw the Murkrow with its fast beating wings streaked towards him. At the last minute before the attack hit the opponent struck its wings out wide and swiped them across his face. Kroc cried with pain but stood his ground, ready for more. He was a fighter at heart, but she hoped he would know his limits.

"Kroc attack the foe with Water Gun and bring it to the ground" she said.

The Murkrow had regained height in the air and was flying above, waiting for its next order. It seemed to not mind the way the Grunt yelled at it, maybe it was too used to it to even notice. Claire started to think about her life. She gritted her teeth together in aggravation. She should be focusing on the battle, not herself.

"Murkrow, dodge it then swipe the enemy with a Peck" he said, breaking Claire from her thoughts.

Her attention was now fully on the battle as it started to heat up. She noticed how Kroc had weakened since the first battle with the Umbreon. His legs were not in full stance but he seemed pretty willing to go on. She worried for his health dearly, for he was the first true friend she has ever had. Kroc, like many others times, shot out a gun of water flying at the opponent. The Murkrow started to dodge it with sheer joy. It was swift and agile, and with the wind on its side it could easily move out of the way. It swerved around the water beam getting close with each flap of its wings. Her Croconaw tried desperately to aim at the bird but with it up in the air it was useless.

    "Muuuurkroooow!" it screeched.

It dived at full speed towards the ground where Kroc stood. His water gun attack had run out by the time the enemy started its own assault. The bird was going too fast for the Croconaw to see and with only a few seconds it struck him from behind with a peck of its long sharp beak. He cried out in surprise and fell to the ground face forward.

Claire could not stifle her gasp, which only made the Grunt laugh with amusement. He swished his bright red hair out of his face. He had deep red eyes that sent chills through her body. No, she would not be spooked by this man. Before she fell deep into his evil gaze she turned away, unable to look at him once more. She grabbed her dirty blonde hair gentle in her hands and squeezed with anger. This can no be the end.

Get up, please! She cried in her mind. Kroc was still lying still on the ground, his sides softly rising and falling, with his eyes closed shut. Maybe it was time to recall him…

"Now, finish it off with Steel Wing" the Grunt said menacingly.

His sinister voice disturbed her. She knew he was in for the kill, but that would not happen. Not here, not today, and not ever.

"Kroc, if you can hear me use Slash as the foe dives at you" She called to him. No movement came from his body.

For a moment she saw his orange eyes open then shut quickly. She first thought she imagined it, before she realized something. In the cave she had once entered on her mission to prove she was Team Euro worthy, he had displayed the same kind of attack. Before her new Marowak had attack him with his Bone Club Kroc leapt up with a surprise attack that set off the move of Skull.

She hoped with all her heart that hopefully this is what he was doing now. If not then he was done for and she would be forced to return him to his Pokéball and call out one of the others. She couldn't help but look at the Grunt, only to see the regular cockiness return to his expression. If she had been right all along, he and his Pokémon were in for a surprise. The Murkrow was flying high in the air but Claire could still notice its wings being covered with a shield of steel. Its feathers were hidden beneath the newly formed steel spikes and it dived from the blue sky to attack her Croconaw.

She hardly noticed that she was holding her breath, her fists had rolled in even tighter, making the knuckles on her hands white. She wanted desperately to smack the Grunt and give him a taste of what she was made of. In her heart though she was nothing like that. It would not end it utter violence, but a nice match of the strength of their Pokémon. Or so she hoped.

She couldn't help not wanting to win. She wanted it badly, and hopefully that is what would happen. As the Murkrow got closer to its target it started to show the same cockiness of which its owner recently showed her. It should really pay more attention to the battle. It would have noticed Kroc's eyes shoot open. He hurled himself from the ground as he did once with the Marowak, and launched himself at the bird. His claws grew sharper as he entered into his Slash attack.

"Yes!" she couldn't help the yell of joy that escaped her mouth.

In a split second the battle had changed. Kroc slashed out his hand and smacked it into the side of the bird. The attack sent it crashing to the ground with surprise, its eyes wide open in panic. He had finally grounded the bird at last. The Grunt had gone into another one of his temper tantrums. The hat he had thrown recently on the ground was being smashed multiple times by her stomping feet.

Kroc had continued with his slash attack, clawing at the grounded bird Pokémon until it could take it no longer. He withdrew from the attack and stepped back. The Murkrow had hidden its face under its dark blue wings and only its long yellow beak stuck out.

"Murkrow, use Night Shade, COME ON!" he screeched.

The Grunt had tried to push his Pokémon father than its limits. Claire quickly made a note to herself never push their limits unless they want to be pushed. In the air she drew in invisible check with pride. She was utterly shocked that this evil Tractus Grunt had actually taught her something. Though the Grunt wailed on, trying to force the Pokémon to move, it didn't. He had finally given up his attempts to go on.

"How can you be so strong?!" the grunt shouted.

With that he withdrew his Murkrow, who seemed happy enough to return to the Pokéball. Without another word he turned his tail and ran into the distance. She watched as his figure slowly disappeared out of her sight range.

"We did it!" she cried with joy.

She started to jump up and down with excitement for her success. She had finally won a battle with the help of her Pokémon. She turned to celebrate with Kroc but he had a pained expression cross his face. Happiness was quickly replaced with worry. She noticed he was holding his arm to his side. The Murkrow had barely gotten him with the Steel Wing attack. She jumped forward to cradle him in her arms.

"I am sorry Kroc, are you okay?" she asked.

But before anyone had time to speak a word she heard something behind her. She froze in panic and closed her eyes. Not another one She whimpered to herself. But as she turned around it was not the Grunt she had expected, instead it was a man in tattered clothing with a Quilava standing beside him and a Hoothoot perched neatly on his shoulder. She took a closer, clearer look with her pale brown eyes at the man and slowly realized who he was. This was no other than Professor Elm.

"Wait, you're a member of Team Euro?" he asked.

Claire couldn't help but give him a nod. How did he know? Then she realized with embarrassment that it was obvious from the uniform she had on. He smiled slowly and held out his hand for her to take a hold. She did so and she was raised from the ground, Kroc was stuck to her side like glue.

"Do you know Selene? She's a friend of mine. She told me she was sending someone here to help. You must be that person." He said gesturing to her outfit.

She debates this for a minute, but if he was a friend of Selene then he must mean her no harm.

    "I am Claire" she replied.

"Claire, nice to meet you. Please, quickly, come with me. We must get to my underground lab before that Team Tractus member comes back with others." He said in a reassuring voice.

She hesitated for a moment, before following him quickly as he walked away. She could trust him, hopefully. She was helping someone her family had once known, he must be good.

"So, are the three Hiberna Ortus Pokemon captured?" an orange-haired man in a rusty orange uniform as several people stepped into a large room wearing the same uniform. He had light blue buttons along his coat-like uniform and next to him stood two Pokemon – one was a legendary Pokemon – Heatran. The other was a Kanto Pokemon – a Blastoise.
One of the other people nodded. "Yes sir," he spoke. And he pulled a bag around and pushed it out in front of the older, orange-haired man. "These are them, sir."
The man takes the bag. "Excellent," he smiled. "They will help our goal to create Pokemon X."
Then he looked at the other grunt. "Will Damon or Team Euro be a problem?"
"No sir," the grunt shook his head. "We have other members going out to stop them."
"Good," the orange-haired man nodded. "I don't want them interfering with our experiments."

The Team Tractus member threw forth his own Pokeball, releasing a giant black snake-like Pokemon who hissed furiously at Luna before turning to glare at Trapinch, who had taken up a position infront of his trainer.

"Trapinch!" Luna's orange ground type defiantly stood his ground, ready for battle.

    "Okay Trapinch, use Crunch!"

Trapinch launched forward, clamping his sharpened teeth around the Seviper's middle. Trapinch kept a hold on the Seviper, which was surprisingly easy for the little Pokemon to do. Luna was not surprised at all though, it was how she had met the Trapinch after all.

"Seviper, use Poison Sting," The Team Tractus member ordered his Seviper to attack with such ease and simplicity. Whilst Trapinch was still attached to the Seviper, the snake Pokemon managed a focused Poison Sting attack, the purple jets of poison shooting from it's mouth rapidly. Trapinch looked hurt but still kept a hold on the Seviper, biting down even harder. Slowly but surely, Trapinch was hurting his opponent.

"Hang in there Trapinch! Use Rock Slide!" Luna called to Trapinch. Her Pokemon let go of his opponent, taking a few steps back, searching his surroundings for something that would collapse. Trapinch's little legs carried him over to a brick building that had half collapsed, the roof swinging violently in a dangerous position and its walls about ready to fall. Seviper had unknowingly followed Trapinch closely, intended on using Bite, like his trainer had asked. It was the wrong move though, for as soon as Trapinch attack the bottom of the wall with all his strength, it very quickly came tumbling down. Seviper was in the wrong place and the wrong time and took the full front of the attack.

Luna grinned at Trapinch who was grinning back despite swaying on his feet. The attack and knocking the wall over had drained all of Trapinch's energy. Luna recalled him as she nodded to Marshtomp to take to the field.

All too suddenly the Seviper burst from the rubble, looking worn out but still able to battle. In it's fury it rushed towards Marshtomp with great speed, moving it's tail round which glowed a deadly purple. Slashing Marshtomp right off her feet, the water Pokemon tumbled head over heels through the rubble whilst Seviper composed itself once more, looking to it's trainer for direction.

    "Marshtomp, Water Gun!"

Once Marshtomp had managed to get back up, a jet of water burst from her mouth, hitting the Seviper with such force as to make it slither backwards a little.

    "Now Mud Shot!"

The water was replaced with thick mud which again managed to hit the Seviper with good accuracy.

"Marshtomp's aim is getting better," Luna thought to herself, feeling proud of her partner.

The Seviper was soon defeated by Marshtomp's Mud Shot, the snake-like Pokemon unable to battle any longer as it dropped to the ground. The Team Tractus member looked horrified but tried to keep his cool as he quickly returned his defeated Pokemon and replaced it with his last Pokemon. A calm and sneaky look was channelled towards Luna who stared back defiantly.

The Pokemon who had replaced Seviper was one Luna recognised, remarkably. It was a fierce looking Shiftry, a dual type native to the Hoenn region. As Luna knew it was part grass type, she called Marshtomp back, knowing that at this point in time, Marshtomp would stand little chance against her opponent. It was all up to Butterfree now.
Butterfree was looking fresh and ready to battle once he'd emerged from his Pokeball.

As Luna's thoughts wavered and were replaced by which battle techniques to use, she hoped for a moment that she'd made the right choice, using all of her team's strengths to attempt to win this battle. She'd gotten carried away to start with, scared by the destruction this man had claimed to have caused to this town. She just hoped she had made the right decision.

"Okay Butterfree, let's take this guy down!" Luna instructed whilst Butterfree nodded
    confidently. "Use Confusion!"

Brilliant light mixed with yellow and red shot from Butterfree's eyes as he aimed for the Shiftry. It did little damage though with Luna wondering why. Butterfree's Confusion had claimed other opponents she'd been faced against. Luna racked her brain for exactly which other elemental type this Shiftry was but it never came to her. Luna brushed it off, concerning herself with the battle once more.

Butterfree had just been swiped out of the air with Shiftry's Mega Kick, the Team Tractus member looking very smug.

"You expect to try and beat me with that... bug?" He cried, arms folded over his chest. Luna didn't reply, her eyes narrowing.

"Keep going Butterfree, use Stun Spore!"

Butterfree managed to lift himself off the charred rubble he had been thrown into, wings flapping violently. He then flew high above his opponent, unleashing the attack on the unsuspecting Shiftry who seemed to be waiting for his trainer's orders. Shiftry was soon slightly paralyzed, unable to move more than an inch. The Team Tractus grunt's blood was boiling.

"I told you to dodge it you useless Pokemon!" The man was now yelling at his paralyzed Pokemon. Luna felt a hint of regret, feeling sorry for the Shiftry having a careless trainer like that.

"Butterfree try a Tackle," Luna called, receiving a nod from Butterfree in return. The little bug Pokemon slammed with all his might into the Shiftry, only knocking it slightly. "Keep going!"

Whilst the Team Tractus gunt feverishly worried about his Pokemon not attacking, Butterfree continued with Tackle attacks. The Shiftry did manage to use Bullet Seed, the attack hitting Butterfree head on but the little bug persisted. Shiftry was, after quite some time, knocked off his feet. Butterfree was exhausted by that point, dropping into Luna's arms quite suddenly. Although Luna felt slightly bad about pushing Butterfree, she was proud of him.

"Thankyou Butterfree," Was all she said before returning him to his Pokeball. Luna looked down at Marshtomp who stood once more by her side before her eyes flickered towards the Team Tractus Gunt who looked quite appauled at what had happened.

"How can you be so strong?!" the grunt shouted before he returned his defeated Pokemon to it's Pokeball. Without another word he turned around and ran. There was a loud thud as he did so. Alarmed, Luna walked towards the spot where the grunt had been standing.

"Marshtomp!" Marshtomp exclaimed as she hesitated before picking up the rough stone that the grunt had dropped.

"What is it?" Luna asked Marshtomp as she handed it over to her trainer. Deciding that it must have some significance to Team Tractus, Luna pocketed the pale coloured stone.

Very suddenly, Luna heard a voice. Confused, she scanned the area, as did Marshtomp. There was a blonde haired boy running towards her, a large dark blue looking Pokemon by his side. Luna vaguely recognised it to be a Pokemon from Sinnoh, a region she had yet to visit but which she guessed was as equally rampaged as Hoenn.

"Hey! You're from Team Euro!" He exclaimed, coming to a stop infront of her as he scanned the burning rubble of the town. "That's Selene's team! Hi, I'm Barry, one of Selene's old friends. We started out journeys together several years ago."
Luna just blinked, thinking only of how the young man talked so fast. He didn't even seem out of breath from all that running.

"Um, I'm Luna," She replied, sticking her hand out for Barry to shake. "How'd you know I was here?"

"Selene asked me to find you since I'm travelling in this region right now," He replied quickly. "She told me that she wants you to head to Rustboro City with my help."

"That sounds good," Luna replied, smiling.

"Great! Follow me. I know a place where we can heal your team."

Luna followed Barry out of the town towards the route, glancing back only once at the the town that was Littleroot.

Luna could not believe how the terrain had changed in the short time she had been away. Upon hearing she'd be returning to Hoenn, Luna had been excited to show Marshtomp her homeland which she was extremely proud of. Luna was not at all proud of what she saw infront of her.

Seeing the grave look on her face, Barry grimaced, intending to offer a bit of sympathy.

"Unfortunately, a lot of the towns and cities look like this. Because of Palkia's power it's grown worse in Hoenn."

"Palkia?" Luna questioned. She could remember once vaguely hearing the name of what she presumed to be a Pokemon but she couldn't be sure. For all she knew, it could be the name of one of Team Tractus' destructive machines, right? Unfortunately for Luna, that turned out not to be the case.

"Palkia's a legendary Pokemon," Barry said in reply to her question as he smiled at Luna. A thought came very quickly to Barry, one which he felt quite ashamed to have thought of. If Luna knew so little of the legendaries, how was she meant to help calm them? Barry had tried to learn all he could about them but he still had not done much to provoke their rest. Still, Selene had chosen her. Barry very much trusted Selene's judgement and he pushed the thought out of his mind. Luna seemed passionate about Pokemon and that was enough for him for the moment.

All too suddenly, the bushes the pair past by rattled, spooking Luna and Marshtomp. A black coloured Pokemon jumped out of the dark green leaves, snarling and holding it's ground as it did so. The Pokemon stood on all fours and it's dark fur was coarse and stuck out at peculiar angles. Luna managed to recognise this one, a native species to the Hoenn region.

"Luna, battle it! Capture it! It might be able to help us!" Barry instantly instructed her. Luna blinked at him before her eyes flickered from Barry to the snarling Pokemon and back.

"Uh, don't you want to try and capture it instead?" Luna replied as she edged away from the bush, procrastinating. She wasn't entirely sure her Pokemon were up to a battle, they hadn't healed yet although they'd had about half an hour's rest already.
The look Barry gave Luna as he stared at her and then gestured towards his mighty Empoleon told Luna enough that he very much wanted her to battle.

    "Okay Marshtomp, let's do this!"

Marshtomp, who stood beside Luna, stepped forward, readying herself for battle. The wild Mightyena seemed to understand, also readying itself. It was the Mightyena who struck the first attack, leaping forward towards Marshtomp. It spun itself around as the dark fur on it's tail began to glow before smacking into Marshtomp, sending her flying into the same bushes the Mightyena had emerged from.

"Wow! Impressive Iron Tail!" Barry exclaimed. Luna just stared at him for a couple of seconds before she watched Marshtomp stagger out of the bushes.

"Marshtomp get it back with Take Down! You have to be quick!"

Marshtomp nodded before finding room to gain speed for the attack. She propelled herself towards the Mightyena with determination, aiming to be as fast as the Mightyena's attacks had been. Marshtomp knocked into Mightyena's middle, unstabling the dark type Pokemon on it's paws before Marshtomp staggered backwards.

    "Now use Water Gun!"

It took a couple of seconds for Marshtomp to gain her balance back from the previous attack. In that short time the Mightyena had been able to use Agility to heighten it's speed before appearing infront of Marshtomp and using Crunch. Marshtomp cried out in pain, the Mightyena's sharp teeth bared and digging into her shoulder.

"Marshtomp use Water Gun to get Mightyena off you!" Luna told her partner, getting
slightly worried. Marshtomp obeyed despite feeling faint from the pain, building up pressure inside her body before releasing the jet of water on the Mightyena's head. The water wasn't pressurized enough to push Mightyena back into the bushes but it was enough to get Mightyena's teeth off of Marshtomp's shoulder.

Luna watched Marshtomp as she doubled over in pain, clutching her shoulder with one arm.

"Marshtomp try one more Mud Shot!"

As Marshtomp once again obeyed the order, Luna felt a rush of appreciation for her partner. The mud bullets were nearly all perfectly executed, matting the Mightyena's fur and splattering in it's eyes.

Luna found she could never really tell when it was the right time to throw a Pokeball. This time, it seemed right, with Mightyena stumbling, blinded temporarily with the mud. Marshtomp would hardly be in any fit state to fight after she attempted throwing a Pokeball which made Luna wish long and hard that Mightyena would subdue and give in. Luna quickly found an empty Pokeball in her bag and she threw it towards the Pokemon. The Mightyena disappeared inside with a flash of light, the Pokeball dropping on the bare ground with a thud. It rolled from side to side, the red light dinging in the centre.

Luna crept forward as she stared the Pokeball, gathering up the hurt Marshtomp into her arms, who looked thoroughly grateful for it. Luna glanced at Barry who shrugged his shoulders and kept his eyes on the rolling Pokeball. She too turned her attention back to the Mightyena fighting to leave the Pokeball.

The sun had risen way above the distant hills, sending sunlight dancing across the broken town. It broke her heart to gaze over the burned ash buildings and the uprooted trees all around her. She carefully walked through the terrain making sure not to step on anything but the dirt ground. It was harder though when she had a heavy Pokémon cradled in her arms. His blue head slightly bounced up and down as she walked.

Claire had made sure to hold his body and not the many long red spikes going down his spine and up around his tail. He himself was cradling his own arm, for it had been hurt in the battle earlier. She remembered it now. When the Murkrow came for the Steel Wing he had jumped with his surprise attack and smashed its head downwards with his arm. During that the opponent had drew its steel covered feathers across his arm.

The battle still raged on in her mind. Though they had won successfully she couldn't believe how reckless Kroc had been. He was only trying to protect her from any harm that could come her way. How could he be so careless? She thought to herself. Her heart drove her on worrying for her Pokémon's health before she realized where her feet had dragged her.

Professor Elm was kneeling down to the ground and with his fingers brushed off dirt to find a grey handle. With a heavy heave he pulled the handle and there opened a door to the tunnel below.

"I thought the bunkers weren't needed in the smaller towns?" Claire gasped at the familiar sight of the bunker.

His only reply was a deep and sorrow sigh. Soon his Quinlava entered into the tunnel followed by Professor Elm, Claire and Kroc, and last but not least his loyal Hoothoot. The owl was determined to stay in the back to watch for danger. Quilava's light lit up the dark tunnel as they walked forward. The shadows grew thicker and thicker until they couldn't see three feet in front of themselves.

Claire reached out to find the walls and instead of the heavily compacted dirt with wood pillars holding it up, she found walls made out of cold metal. She shivered as she touched the icy metal and quickly withdrew. Suddenly the light got brighter, but it was not of Quilava's, they had reached the end of the tunnel. It appeared to her as a small lab and also a room. It was a house underground.

Professor Elm went to but aflame to some of the lights that had blown out, with his Hoothoot stuck to his side and Quilava watching every move she made. They didn't trust her yet. She slowly put Kroc down on the floor, upright on his feet. He complained but she didn't care; besides they were safe here.

"This is where I live now," the Professor explains.

Suddenly as quick as a lightning bolt a Chikorite and a Totodile run at her at a high speed. They surrounded her and growled, showing their sharp teeth. Kroc in that same moment stepped forward and puffed out his body to appear even bigger then he already was, and merely gazed at the Pokémon.

"Chikorite, Totodile, cease at once!" Professor Elm called. They looked up at him in surprise and stood like that for a few seconds before backing off slowly and silently.

"Please follow me," he spoke, gesturing her to follow him.

She was hesitant for the Pokémon who almost attacked her were standing close by, waiting for her to make the wrong move. They won't hurt me if I don't hurt him she reminded herself. Holding her breath Claire walked forward to stand by his side, and Kroc was stuck to her like glue.

There in front of the two was a small machine in the base of the lab. A single Pokéball sat alone on it. Carefully the Professor reaches down to grab it gently in his hands before turning back to her.

"Claire, you are a very capable trainer and I greatly appreciate Selene for asking you to protect Johto." He said. "But, the journey's going to be a hard one. I want you to have this Pokémon in this Pokéball. It's perfect for your team, but it might need some training. Please take it?" he finished.

She gazed at the Pokéball, astounded at this wonderful offer. She slowly took the Pokéball out of the Professors hand and dragged it toward her body. With a quick click of the button a flash of light lit the room up brightly. Out of the ball came a green Pokémon. It had a small shell on its back and a twig atop its head. It was none other than a cute little Turtwig.

    Time Is Running Out (PG13)

"This young Pokémon I received from Professor Rowan to help protect me, but Chikorita, Totodile, Quilava, and my Hoothoot can do that." He said, laughter filling his tone. "It's pretty strong but still young and inexperienced. I want it to help you revive Johto. Will you do that?" he said.

She was lost for word and stood there speechless. She couldn't seem to drag a single yes out of her mouth though she desperately wanted to. Finally she built up the strength to talk.

"Yes I will, I promise" she said smiling.

She bent down to pick up the Turtwig in her arms when she heard a mighty growl from Kroc. He stood behind her with disgust filling his face. He didn't like the new friend they had acquired.

"Hey, you didn't like Skull either" She said snapping at him. She held out her arms and scooped the female Turtwig up.

Its soft skin was cold against her body but it didn't bother her much. Professor Elm smiled and walked toward a large computer. It looked old and raggedy and she would be surprised if it even worked.

"I also wanted to tell you – the three dog Pokémon of Johto are loose and running free. But what is worse is the Alternate Reality Pokémon, Giratina, is roaming the region. I need your help to calm it. Can you?" He asked.

She gasped and stepped backwards slightly. "Me?" Was all she could say. But he acknowledged her with a nod.

She didn't have much time to think it over, but she knew who she was and what she wanted to be. She set down the Turtwig and held her fist to her chest, giving a deep sigh.

    "I will"

OOC: I apologise for the short post but there's really not much more I can say right now. D:

Luna blinked as she watched the red and white sphere finally stop shaking after what seemed like a lifetime. Luna gave Marshtomp a gentle squeeze, grinning down at her water Pokemon before she ventured forth to pick up the Pokeball containing her newly caught Mightyena.

"I actually caught it!" Luna said excited, turning to find Barry grinning back at her.

"Whoo hoo!" He replied, punching the air with his fist. Luna attached the ball to her belt, intending to do the much needed introductions with her new Pokemon later. Right now, Marshtomp needed healing. Barry seemed to understand Luna's gestures.

"That was a rush! Great battle Luna! Now come on, you're Marshtomp looks like it could do with a good rest."

Nodding, Luna followed Barry and his Empoleon as they continued down the route. They ended up in a small clearing. A small wooden house stood in its centre and despite the empty feel the clearing threw at it's new visitors, Luna was imagining the warmth of a fire and a decent bed to sleep in.
