Time Is Running Out (PG13)

Luna returned Marshtomp to her Pokeball once she entered the house. It was cozy and Luna was glad to be able to look at her surroundings without feeling some sort of hatred against Team Tractus even though she didn't know who they were.
Impressive looking Pokemon Luna knew to be a Roserade and a Delcatty were seated on the couch, both dozing off though they were happy to see their human company. Barry put down his backpack, gesturing for her to sit as he did so. His Empoleon, though large and powerful, seated himself on the carpet.

"The reason Selene asked me to find you wasn't just to bring you to Rustboro City, but also to give you this," Barry outstretched his hand, offering a Pokeball to Luna. "Inside the Pokeball is a Pokemon that'll help you. She told me that."

Confused, Luna hesitated before she took the Pokeball from Barry's hand. She had just caught a new Pokemon, she didn't really need another, did she? Nevertheless, Luna pressed the white button on the Pokeball, aiming the red light at the carpet before a Pokemon materialised. It was small and snake-like, a smooth pale blue in colour.

"A Dratini?" Luna mused, watching her new Pokemon adjust itself. It stared at Luna as it sat on the carpet.

"Dra?" Dratini answered, the white fins on it's head twitching ever so slightly.

"I'm not sure how Selene gets all these Pokemon - maybe she rescues them, but this guy is yours now," Barry finished.

Grinning, Luna reached out to pat her new Pokemon only to find it attempting to sit on her lap. Luna hugged the Dratini, surprised at his sudden friendliness.

"Wow Barry, thanks. I must remember to thank Selene next time I see her-" Luna was cut off very abruptly by the house starting to shake violently. In an uproar, Luna grabbed her things before following Barry out of the house. Barry's facial expressions told her something was very wrong.

Luna gasped at the sight she saw outside. The ground was beginning to split in two, trees were smacking to the ground and various wild Pokemon were emerging from their homes, attemping to run away from the earthquake's terror. Luna hugged the Dratini in her arms even tighter.

"Luna, look!" Barry was pointing towards the horizon, a look of shock on his face. Luna squinted as she tried to maintain balance. It was difficult though, for the ground was shaking to the point where the house behind her looked like it was going to collapse.
Two roaring figures were present in the distance.

"Luna, that's Kyogre and Groudon!" Barry called as they watched the landscape around them fall to pieces.

"What are they doing?" Luna asked, feeling the lump in her throat grow larger and her stomach churn. She was beginning to feel extremely scared.

"Looks like they're fighting?" Barry replied. "What do you think Empoleon?" He continued to ask his partner. "I think Groudon's causing the earthquake, at least."

As Luna continued to stare at the two massive and powerful figures ahead of her, she failed to notice the crack in the earth zooming towards where she stood. Dratini started squirming in her arms as he finally took notice.

"Dratini, can you stop-" Luna's eyes widened as she realised the earth pulling apart. All too quickly Luna pulled Dratini's Pokeball from her belt, returning him before she attempted to rescue herself. Barry failed to notice anything until it was too late.

"Luna!"

Luna felt herself fall, things beginning to quickly go dark.

"Oh no, I can't have fallen. Reach out and grab something Luna!" She told herself sternly in her mind. Luna couldn't reach out for anything though. She didn't somehow feel whole anymore. She felt in pieces and the strong sensation of falling, that was it and that was all she could feel. It was not long before Barry's voice became nothing more than a murmur and Luna blacked out.
 
n all his life, Damian didn't think he had ever felt as angry as he felt right then. It was almost like he could hardly see straight, that was how mad he was. It took him a few moments to push his anger back, but finally he succeeded. Damian knew he'd need a calm head for this battle, or at least a head calm enough for him to be able to battle. So, when the Tractus Grunt sent out a Golbat, Damian grabbed Nidorino's Pokeball without much hesitation. He watched his Pokemon materialize, and then glanced at the Golbat who was flapping its wings steadily to keep itself aloft. Damian smirked, leering at the Pokemon.

"Nidorino, attack with mega kick," Damian ordered.

"Dodge and use steel wing," the grunt commanded, crossing his arms and smirking at Damian.

Damian glared in the grunt's direction as soon as he took note of the smug smirk that was being shot his way. Before he could comment about it, there was a harsh thud and the Golbat was being shot halfway across their makeshift battle field. It slammed into the ruins of a house, and then flew back up in the air seconds later. Nidorino grunted and pawed at the ground, lowering his head and growling. The Golbat let out an odd little hiss in reply, and then dove in towards Nidorino, pausing seconds after to flap its wings with more power than Damian would've thought possible. It dove in again, wings shining the color of steel, and slammed into Nidorino with a harsh impact. Nidorino grunted but held strong, slamming his horn into Golbat's side before it could move away.

"Good job, Nidorino," Damian said in a rather idle way. He thought for a moment, and then decided what he was going to have happen. "Attack with mega kick, and then once it's down go in with a fury attack."

"Don't let it get you, Golbat. Use wing attack."

Nidorino charged to the hovering Golbat, who was flapping its wings at a fast pace once more. This time, however, the wings didn't glow. As Golbat's attack grew ready, Nidorino leaped up to hit it. Golbat hissed and then dove downwards, ready to apparently finish Nidorino off. Though Damian knew Nidorino was exceedingly tough, he couldn't help but worry about his Pokemon a little bit. Nidorino, however, didn't seem to be as concerned as his foot slammed into Golbat's side, knocking it sideways and just barely off the ground. Golbat didn't seem to keen on going down, for it kept its flight. Nidorino charged in anyhow, but got knocked back by Golbat's wings. Nidorino grunted and skidded backward, but otherwise didn't seem to be too phased by the attack.

"Tch..." the grunt grumbled. He glared at Golbat, who flinched slightly. "Stupid bat. Attack and make it count! Use wing attack and once you're close enough, follow it up with bite!"

Damian didn't really like how the guy was treating his Pokemon, but didn't comment. Instead, he simply waited to make his move. He had it all planned out in his head, and didn't think that Golbat doing this or that would make much of a difference. Nidorino held his ground, at least until the last second where Damian called for a dodge. Nidorino rolled away, just missing the harsh wing attack. Golbat, however, was able to twist around in the air and latch onto Nidorino's ear with his fangs. Nidorino let out a sharp, piercing cry and began to thrash about vigorously. Finally he managed to get into a good position, because seconds later Nidorino had smacked the Golbat off of his ear with a mega kick from his back leg. Damian smirked.

"You have no idea who you decided to pick a fight with," Damian said, suddenly feeling rather confident in his and Nidorino's abilities. "Nidorino, let's finish this battle. Use horn attack and then finish it with a final mega kick!" Damian ordered, voice unwavering and full of confidence.

"Don't you let that thing hit, Golbat!" the Tractus Grunt snarled. He looked very, very pissed. "Ward it away with wing attack if you have to! Bite it when you get the chance!"

Damian watched as Nidorino leaped up to meet the Golbat in combat, only to fall to the ground moments later after the Golbat dodged his attack. Nidorino continued to try his horn attack, but unluckily for him the Golbat continued to evade. Damian frowned slightly, but didn't call off Nidorino's attack. He knew that the Golbat would slip up sooner rather than later, and when that happened the bat Pokemon was going down. Finally Golbat made the mistake; it didn't give itself enough time to dodge. Nidorino slammed right into Golbat's mouth, knocking the Pokemon to the ground. Then Nidorino leaped up and slammed his foot down, making the Golbat shriek with pain before it finally went limp. Damian glanced at the angry grunt, finding a triumphant smirk on his own face as he did so.

"Now who's mopping the floor with whom?" Damian said smugly. He 'humph'ed and then recalled Nidorino. The grunt grumbled under his breath in an angry mutter, recalling his fallen Golbat as well.

"This isn't over yet. My next Pokemon is the strongest Pokemon I have, and there's no way it'll lose to a Euro punk like you."

"We'll see about that," Damian grumbled in reply.

In two flashes of brilliant white light, two very different Pokemon emerged from two Pokeballs. The grunt's Pokemon, a Gengar, looked very similar to its trainer; mean and scary. Charmeleon, however, looked rather ready to fight and looked just as confident as Damian.

"Gengar, go use shadow ball. Then when it's caught off guard use hypnosis!" the grunt commanded.

"Don't fall for it, Charmeleon. Use fire spin to keep it trapped, and then finish it with ember." Damian knew that Charmeleon wasn't stupid, and therefore he knew that Charmeleon wouldn't fall for a side attack.

Charmeleon's fire shot out of his mouth within a few moments, and soon it had wrapped its way around Gengar. The ghost type launched a shadow ball, but the attack was neutralized by the sheer power that was Charmeleon's fire spin. Soon the ghost was completely caught in the vortex, unable to escape and continuously getting burned by the flames. Seconds laughter, Charmeleon launched a fire attack with more force than Damian had known. Damian figured that it was probably because Charmeleon could feel his anger, thus invoking feelings that powered up Charmeleon's attacks.

"Gengar, use hypnosis!" the man commanded.

Instead of getting vaporized by the flames like Damian had originally counted on, the rings of energy that emitted from Gengar's eyes passed through the burning flames and directly to Charmeleon. Charmeleon's eyes soon began to drift as his attack cut off, until finally he fell forward completely and totally asleep. Soon the flames diminished around Gengar, and that was when it took its opportunity. The grunt called for a dream eater, and that's just what happened. The attack made Charmeleon twitch and make a face in its sleep, and Damian watched in annoyance as Gengar's bruises and burns slowly began to fade away.

"Charmeleon, use ember!" Damian called, hoping that Charmeleon would wake up.

"Heh, it won't work. Gengar, attack with shadow ball and then follow up with another dream eater to finish that Charmeleon off."

"Charmeleon!" Damian shouted, clenching his fists. He didn't know how he was going to wake Charmeleon, but Damian knew that he had to do something to wake it up. If he didn't, Damian knew that Charmeleon would be a sitting duck and wouldn't survive the next two attacks.

The Gengar quickly formed a shadow ball, sending it careening towards Charmeleon who was still asleep. Damian glanced away, not wanting to see the attack hit his Pokemon who was left there like a sitting duck. Moments later, however, there was a sharp cry from Charmeleon and then there was a bright orange light. Damian looked up, clearly surprised to see his Pokemon awake and sending a burst of flame toward the Gengar. Damian found a small grin on his face and relief flooded through him. Gengar grunted and formed another shadow ball, and within seconds the two attacks collided.

"Gengar put it back to sleep!" the Tractus guy shouted, sweat suddenly forming on his brow.

"Charmeleon, watch yourself! Break the attack with an ember!" Damian ordered, feeling the battle was coming to a close.

Gengar began to release the rings from its eyes, but Charmeleon's fire attack blasted right through them and finished it off. The attack was strong enough, slamming into Gengar and sending it flying backwards and skidding into the ground. The Gengar grunted and attempted to get up, but soon fell back down and didn't move.

Finally, the battle was over. Damian let out a breath as he noticed that Charmeleon was still standing. Damian watched the grunt grumble under his breath, and then shouted something that Damian chuckled at. Damian recalled Charmeleon, pondering the very question the grunt had just asked. How could he be so strong? Damian didn't know, but he was glad that he had just beaten down the Tractus Grunt who had helped destroy his home. Damian found himself growing angry again, but pushed it away once he noticed the grunt had turned and ran away. Damian saw something drop to the ground as he ran, and found his eyebrow raising. He approached the thing, picking up the heavy rock and the letter that seemed to be attached to it.

The rock, Damian soon found out by the markings on it, was a moon stone. Along with the moon stone, Damian had finally opened the letter and was reading it. It mentioned something about Brock and Green, gym leaders of the cities Pewter and Viridian respectively. Damian continued reading, finding that it seemed to be in his best interest to go to Viridian City. Damian quickly stowed the note in one of his pockets, tucked the moon stone in his bag, and then headed off.
 
The soft whispering wind blew through her hair and around her body. She let the sunlight soak into her tanned skin with her eyes closed shut. Claire couldn't help but feel so good to be back in the region she came from. It felt like she found the mission puzzle piece to her life and yet the puzzle still wasn't complete. It was depressing however, to find that the little place of New Bark Town was in ruins.

Sighing deeply she opened her pale brown eyes. Standing just below her was the brand new addition to her team. The green Turtwig was happy to be outside at last, and Claire was happy to have her. There was something mission though. She thought this through for only a couple of moments before realizing what it was.

"You don't have a name! You definitely need a name" she said happily.

She was determined to give each and every Pokémon she obtains a nickname. It was just something she remembered from a long time ago. Though she couldn't exactly remember what that memory was. All she knew was nicknaming makes a stronger bond grow between the trainer and the Pokémon. That is why she continues to carry on with this process.

"Your name shall be, Willow, like a tree." Claire said.

She was about to gesture to the trees around them and stopped herself. These lifeless trees were not what she had in mind when she thought of the name. Willow squeaked with happiness and bounded a few steps away before running back to her new trainer.

To the side of her Totodile sat with disgust on his face. The only friend he really liked out of them all was Flash, her bright yellow Pikachu. She couldn't understand why he had completely ignored her Marowak and now shows no sign of liking Willow. Oh well he will just have to get used to them is all.

Perched on her shoulder was Flash himself. His black eyes scanned the dead town around us with shock. With her hand she reached up to stroke his head softly, trying to calm him. Below her stood Skull, the Marowak, completely ignorant to his surroundings. She laughed quietly to herself. She actually thought they would enjoy a bit of fresh air. She shrugged her shoulders and felt Flash reposition himself, obviously annoyed by the movement.

"Oh come on, we are here for a reason now straighten up!" she yelled.

All her Pokémon looked up at her in shock. Their eyes scanned for something on her face but when they got nothing they turned away. Claire made sure she had everything before walking forward. Earlier she discussed where she should go with Professor Elm. He was much help and decided she should head for Violet City.

She felt strong and confident as she started to walk into the next route. But here the trees were dead, even more so than the last ones – if possible. A shot of movement caught her eye and she turned to a bright blue pond. By the looks of it the moving object was coming closer to her. As if heading straight at her - Oh wait, it was heading straight for her.

She felt herself stiffen and unable to move her feet, instead she was still staring at the object more closely. It had what at first appeared to her as a white cape and on its forehead was a large shape of something. It wasn't just an object; it was Pokémon, and not just any Pokémon. With sudden realization she recognized Suicune's blue body. She gasped with awe as one of the legendary dogs landed in front of her. Claire was still frozen in place and Suicune merely looked at her. Without thinking she starts to raise her hand to feel the Pokémon.

But suddenly it nudged it away, and did it once more. A small soft growl came from its throat but not in an angry way. It was like it was trying to tell her something very important. In an instant a bolt of lightning strikes the Pokémon causing it to cry in agony. Quickly Claire stepped backwards, but before she could go any farther she sees another shape.

A person dressed in an orange and blue uniform steps out into the open. The woman's long hair draped down to her shoulders and floating next to her was a Pokémon. Claire had no idea what the Pokémon was, for she had never seen one before. The woman quickly spots her and turns to her Pokémon to tell it to stop the attack. It does as it was told and the lightning went away.

"Who are you?" Claire asked.

The woman grinned slightly, and stepped forward to meet her.

"I'm from Team UQU." She said with a smile. "Now if you don't mind, scram!" she screamed.

The grunt had a look of hatred in her eyes but Claire was not afraid. She had taken down the other team's grunt before; she can do the same to this one.

"Not likely," Claire said "Willow, you get to battle this time." She said and pointed her finger at the strange metal Pokémon.

She laughed without a care. "Magnezone, take them down."

Damian continued on his way, musing about the letter and information he had obtained along with the stone. Damian had an odd feeling for some reason. It was a feeling that was telling him he needed to evolve Nidorino before he got to Viridian, though Damian was unsure why he felt this way. In any case, Damian stopped just outside of the famed Viridian City and brought out his purple Pokemon. There was a burst of light, and soon Nidorino stood before him. Nidorino glanced around quickly, apparently looking for his opponents. Damian frowned; it was true...he had only really been using Nidorino in battles.

"Sorry, Nidorino," Damian muttered, and then tugged the moon stone out of his bag. He crouched down and held it out. Nidorino sniffed it curiously and then cocked his head to the side. "It's a moon stone," Damian explained, still keeping his hand outstretched. "It'll make you evolve, I think."

Nidorino grunted and pawed at the ground. Damian sort of took the hint. Nidorino seemed to be pleased with the idea of growing stronger, so Damian bit his lip and then pressed the stone against his Pokemon's forehead. Damian fell backwards on his butt as soon as Nidorino erupted in a white light and his form grew huge. Damian watched in slight awe as Nidorino became Nidoking in just moments before his eyes. Nidoking let out a fierce roar, and then glanced down at Damian with a rather pleased expression on his face. Damian smirked up at Nidoking, glad to see that his Pokemon seemed to enjoy the evolution.

"Alright, now I suppose it's time to get going to Viridian again," Damian said idly. He thought about keeping Nidoking out for a moment and just riding him into town, but then thought better of it. Just incase something did happen, Damian wanted the element of surprise. "Come back, Nidoking," Damian uttered as he recalled his giant and then tucked away the ball. Then Damian turned back so he was facing the impending city, and began to walk once more.

Seeing as he was on the very outskirts, it didn't take long for Damian to reach the border where Route 1 ended and the official Viridian City began. He was about to continue on his way to the gym, but then he noticed there was someone standing in the middle of his path, blocking the way to the city. Damian's eyebrow rose suspiciously and he began to walk toward the person cautiously. Soon, however, he realized that it was the Viridian Gym leader, Green. Damian's eyebrows shot up and his eyes widened. Green was staring at him with a harsh and angered expression, and then he began to shout.

"You may not come any closer!" he snarled. Damian blinked rapidly, completely bewildered as to what was happening. Then, without saying another word, Green tossed a Pokeball between them harshly. A large Exeggutor was standing there, giving Damian the same exact glare that Green had produced moments earlier.

"Alright then, be that way," Damian whispered. He grabbed Charmeleon's Pokeball without a second thought, knowing that the typing would be very helpful.

Damian's fire type came out with a roar as his tail burst into a bigger flame. Charmeleon sank into a weary battle stance as he eyed the Exeggutor. Green's eyes had narrowed upon the arrival of Charmeleon, but otherwise he seemed perfectly fine with the new arrival. Damian ordered a quick ember attack, just to test the waters. Charmeleon shot a burst of flame from his snout, but the Exeggutor simply stood there. Moments later, the attack hit it dead on. Exeggutor grunted as it was pushed back by the force of the attack, but managed to stay on its feet and hold tough for most of it. It was then that Damian knew this would be a very, very difficult battle.

"Do I get a badge if I win?" Damian asked in a joking way, but soon realized it was probably a better idea to keep his mouth shut when Green shot him another glare. He didn't answer, so Damian sort of took that as a no.

"Exeggutor, use hyper beam and finish it," Green commanded, seemingly sure that the attack would do Charmeleon in. Damian, however, had complete faith in his Pokemon and thought otherwise.

"Charmeleon, use fire spin while it's charging. Once it attacks, dodge it and then go in with a slash!" Damian ordered, knowing that he would get a good opening once hyper beam had been launched.

As the Exeggutor charged up, a bright ball quickly forming in its mouth, Charmeleon shot a stream of fire that twirled around Exeggutor out of his mouth. The fire soon trapped Exeggutor, and it was no mistake the grass type was obtaining damage from the force of the flames and how close they were to its body. The Exeggutor winced slightly, but then shot the orange beam from its mouth. The beam burst through the fire with no problem, heading onward towards Charmeleon. Charmeleon had already braced himself for a dodge, but the attack was somehow too fast. It slammed into Charmeleon's chest, sending him flying backwards and skidding to the ground. Damian's eyes went wide as he watched, and now he was sort of worried that his Pokemon had been KOed.

"Charmeleon," Damian whispered, turning around to look at his fire type.

Charmeleon was slowly getting up. He shook himself, panting harshly, and then charged at the vulnerable Exeggutor. The large Pokemon just stood there silently as the fire swirled around it and Charmeleon charged. Soon, Charmeleon brought his razor sharp claws back and then thrashed them down on Exeggutor's form, making it cringe and cry out. Then, Charmeleon shot a burst of an ember attack off at the Pokemon from close range, just to get back at it for the hyper beam. Green crossed his arms silently as he watched, and Damian stood there with clenched fists.

Charmeleon slowly backed away from Exeggutor, looking unsure and near exhausted. Damian felt sorry for his Pokemon. Charmeleon had been putting in so much effort lately it was unbearable. Damian licked his lips slowly, and then met Green's gaze. The gym leader's eyes were cold and hard as they stared back, and it wasn't hard for Damian to know that he had to win this battle, otherwise he wasn't going anywhere near Viridian City. That was when Damian's resolve hardened, and he shoved the weakness and tiredness he felt out of his system. There was no time to feel that way when he was battling. Charmeleon could probably feed of his emotion and tell how he was tired, thus making Charmeleon just as tired as Damian.

"Alright Charmeleon, it's time to win this battle," Damian stated, eyeing the Exeggutor with new strength. The Pokemon seemed to be burned on its belly, luckily enough. "Attack with ember!"

"Exeggutor, use giga drain!" Green commanded.

The large plant shot a seed off its body that wrapped around Charmeleon, slowly but surely. Charmeleon let out his ember attack in a deadly stream. The fire slammed into Exeggutor, but soon Charmeleon flinched with the impact of the drain. Exeggutor looked a little refreshed, but it wasn't much. Damian was thankful that Charmeleon wasn't weak to Exeggutor's typing, because otherwise he had a feeling that the battle would've been over for sure. Charmeleon, though looking rather worse for the wear, charged at Exeggutor with sharpened claws. The slash attack hit directly, but sadly it gave Exeggutor an opportunity to slam his foot down on Charmeleon's head. Damian wasn't sure what attack that was, but Charmeleon hit the ground and winced, looking practically broken.

"Wood hammer," Green said simply, a small smirk appearing on his face.

Damian ground his teeth together and then looked away from the gym leader. Charmeleon was slowly getting up once more, though it was much slower than before. Exeggutor was huffing and puffing as well, looking a bit top heavy as it tried to keep itself righted. Damian called for Charmeleon to back away, which his fiery lizard did slowly. Charmeleon soon was standing closer to Damian than Exeggutor, and that was just what Damian wanted. He knew this would be Charmeleon's final attack, so he was going to make it count. Green seemed to sense something about the battle as well, for he called a hyper beam again. Exeggutor began to gather energy in that sphere ball once more.

"Ember," Damian declared, knowing it was the only attack that Charmeleon knew that would be very helpful now. Fire spin just wouldn't cut it.

Charmeleon sucked in a breath and then shot out a blazing burst of flame that scorched through the air and slammed into Exeggutor. The grass type grunted and then shot out its own attack. The two attacks met and dueled for a moment, but soon the hyper beam overpowered the ember. It slammed into Charmeleon, knocking him back into the dirt once more. Though Damian knew it was over for Charmeleon, he was pleased to find that Exeggutor had fallen to the ground as well, out like a light. Green simply uncrossed his arms and returned Exeggutor silently, looking a bit annoyed. Damian recalled Charmeleon, proud that his Pokemon had lasted, and then went for Nidoking's Pokeball.

There were two flashes of light, and then a Pokemon with multiple arms was standing across from Damian's Nidoking. Damian eyed the Machamp nervously, hoping against hope that it didn't have too many harsh attacks that would throw Nidoking down.

"Nidoking, start off with mega kick," Damian commanded, eyeing the Machamp carefully. Though he knew fighting type attacks wouldn't be the most effective on Nidoking, Damian had a rather bad feeling that the Machamp had something else up its sleeve.

Nidoking roared and charged, kicking up bits of dirt as it did. For the first time, Damian really looked at his Pokemon. Nidoking was powerful, and he was a hard fighter. Damian figured that Nidoking's strength had escalated now, though he was plenty strong as a Nidorino. As Nidoking whipped around and slammed his foot against Machamp, who caught the kick, Damian was still sizing up his Pokemon. As soon as Machamp caught the kick, Nidoking smirked and then slammed his horn right into Machamp's chest multiple times, making it roar in pain and release Nidoking's foot, allowing Nidoking to continue with his attack. Machamp slammed into the ground, wincing and slowly getting up from the heavy attacks. Green, however, didn't seem to be very concerned.

"Machamp, use dynamic punch," Green ordered. "Once it's confused, follow with earthquake."

The Machamp seemed to spring back to life upon the command. It charged at Nidoking, quickly dodging another couple fury attack jabs from Nidoking's horn, and then slammed his fist into Nidoking's face. Nidoking let out a wild roar, but did go flying as Machamp had when Nidoking had used the mega kick. Nidoking grunted and shook his head, blinking multiple times and looking around curiously. Damian cursed under his breath as he rapidly tried to think of what to do, but it was too late. Machamp slammed his fists down on the earth, and soon it began to quiver and tremble with fierceness. Damian's eyes went wide as he watched Nidoking begin to crumble down and fall into the earth.

"Nidoking!" Damian shouted. Nidoking blinked, seemingly acknowledging Damian. "Use double kick to get out of there!"

Nidoking blinked, still looking utterly confused. As the earth continued to crack around him and fall on his body, making Nidoking wince, he seemed to finally understand. The command broke through his confused fog, and Nidoking was able to slam his feet into the crevice he was slowly sinking into and boost himself out. Nidoking landed back on solid and less cracked ground, though he looked a bit worse for the wear. Machamp, however, didn't look nearly half as bad. Apparently earthquake was something that Nidoking didn't need to experience again, and Damian vowed to make sure that was so.

"Machamp, use cross chop and then finish with seismic toss," Green commanded, pointing to where Nidoking was slowly regaining himself.

"Nidoking, use thrash!" Damian commanded, not really knowing why he had ordered it. He wasn't even sure if Nidoking knew the attack, but he didn't care. It was worth a shot. "Don't let it get you!" he screamed.

Machamp dove in, slashing Nidoking with its multiple arms in something akin to a karate chop. Damian swallowed harshly as he watched, hoping against all hope that Nidoking could just keep it up. Nidoking roared suddenly, and then as soon as Machamp's arms went around the purple Pokemon he began to struggle. This struggle, however, wasn't one that Damian had ever seen. Nidoking thrashed his tail suddenly, knocking Machamp lose. Then he whipped around, slamming his huge head into Machamp's side. The fighting type cried out as it fell to the ground. As a final part of the thrash, Nidoking slammed his foot down against the Machamp's body. The Pokemon's expression turned into one of breathless pain as the wind was rushed out of its lungs. Machamp slumped against the ground. Nidoking backed away, still ready to fight as Machamp tried to regain his feet.

"Machamp, be weary from now on," Green ordered, eyebrows pulling together to crease in the center of his forehead. "Use dynamic punch," Green stated, giving Machamp an odd look. Damian didn't like the look, and was instantly suspicious.

"Nidoking, you use fury attack," Damian stated, deciding that he'd see what was going to happen before going and having Nidoking do something that would waste a lot of energy for no reason.

Machamp, though bruised and bloodied, still looked like it refused to back down. Damian eyed the Pokemon carefully as it shifted from foot to foot, and then charged. The Pokemon pulled back one of its fists, using the others as something akin to a shield. Nidoking roared and charged forward, looking positively livid. As Nidoking slammed into Machamp, the heavyweight brought its fist down right on top of Nidoking's head, dead center between its ears and just before its horn. Nidoking roared in agony, backing off the attack and shaking himself. Damian's lip curled in slight anger. It was then, while Nidoking was attempting to make the splitting pain go away from his head, that Machamp made his move. Damian didn't know why he hadn't seen it coming, but obviously now it was too late.

The fighter carefully got its arms around Nidoking, making sure to hold Nidoking's own arms down at his sides. Nidoking roared, still in obvious pain from the dynamic punch, and tried to struggle away. Before he could get anywhere, however, Machamp leaped from the ground using its powerful legs and went airborne. Damian's eyes widened and his mouth popped open as he watched, unable to believe that Machamp had just so easily plucked Nidoking from the ground and shot into the air with him. They did a quick loop, and came plummeting back down to the ground. Machamp let go moments before, but Nidoking didn't seem to be having any of it. Though he was confused, he still seemed to be able to tell who his enemies were. Nidoking roared and bit down on Machamp's leg, making the Pokemon scream as it was slammed into the ground along with Nidoking.

Dust flew and the ground broke as the Pokemon made their impacts. The dust settled slowly, showing that Nidoking and Machamp were both simply lying in their imprints on the ground. Machamp's expression was blank and dead, he had obviously been finished. Nidoking, however, had his eyes squeezed shut with a harsh expression of pain on his face that made Damian ache. Damian swallowed harshly and ran over to Nidoking, skidding to a halt and immediately sitting next to his Pokemon.

"Oh man," was all he could whisper. Damian couldn't form words, he just couldn't think right. He lightly ran his fingers over the scar across Nidoking's eye, and then carefully rubbed his Pokemon's muzzle. "I'm sorry, Nidoking," Damian muttered. He was about to say something else, when he saw a shadow descend over them. It was Green.

"I'm sorry, too," Green muttered as he recalled his Machamp. "You're not one of them...are you?" he whispered, more to himself than Damian. Nonetheless, Damian shook his head. "Team Euro, I suppose. In any case, you should come with me. We'll heal your Pokemon when it's safe," Green stated simply, glancing around the area.

"Yeah, alright," Damian agreed. He stood up carefully, and then recalled Nidoking. He didn't bother to see what Green was doing as he thought about Nidoking's injuries, but soon heard a soft beat of wings. Damian looked over his shoulder to see Green's Pidgeot flying away, apparently looking for spies.

They left together, and it didn't take long for them to arrive at the Viridian Gym. Damian followed Green down into a dark tunnel that was inside. It was a secret passage, and Damian's eyes widened when he saw the dozens of people and families down there. He looked through the crowd desperately, and soon spotted the shock of fur that he had been waiting for. Without caring what the gym leader thought, Damian raced over to the Arcanine and picked up his fifteen year old sister. She squeaked at first and struggled in his odd embrace, but then began to cry when she realized who it was.

"I thought you were dead," Damian muttered, feeling oddly insane as he held his sister. She was still as small and petite as ever. "You need to eat more," Damian stated. He glanced at his parents who were standing by the now excited Arcanine. His mother had tears in her eyes, so Damian let go of his sister and hugged his mother. He backed away and smiled at them, still unable to believe that they were, in fact, alive. Just as he opened his mouth to say something else, Green called his name. Damian glanced from him to his family, and then gave them an apologetic look before walking away.

He walked over to both Green and Brock. Green decided to ask the first question. "How did you get to the Kanto region? Who trained you, Damian?"

"Selene trained me, and I came from her base," Damian stated simply. Then, he thought about something. "How do you know her, anyway?"

"It's of no importance now," Brock said, cutting off that topic. "What is important is Team Tractus and Team IQU. They're trying to find us," Brock stated, crossing his arms.

Green went on for him. "Also, the legendary time Pokemon Dialga is traveling in this region, destroying everything. We need your help. Can you help us?"

Damian glanced at his family, but then shook his head. He let out a breath. "Yeah, I'll help you. It's not like I'd refuse," Damian said, giving them a tiny smile.

As soon as Damian had spoken, Brock stepped forward and held out his hand. Damian grasped it and shook it. Brock smiled and said, "Thank you. You're quite an extraordinary kid taking on a responsibility like this. No wonder Selene chose you to help revive Kanto. Here." Brock slipped his hand down and grabbed a spherical ball from his belt. It was a Pokeball, almost obviously. Damian blinked as the ball was placed in his hands. Damian wrapped his fingers around the ball and looked at Brock, eyebrow raised. "Let this Pokemon aid you in your journey. It's still young...I caught it when it looked to be in trouble."

Damian nodded slowly, pulling his hand back and looking at the Pokeball for a moment. He glanced at Brock, and then pressed the button in the center of the sphere. There was a flash of white light, and then an odd little Pokemon was sitting on the floor in front of them. It looked like a dragon, though Damian couldn't be sure. He crouched down and eyed the Pokemon, finally realizing what it was. It was a Gible. Damian grinned silently at the little dragon.

"He's part dragon and part ground," Brock began explaining, "he'll help you with whatever you need."

"Thank you," Damian said quietly, righting himself and then recalling his new Pokemon. He shook hands with both Brock and Green, thanking them once again. "I would've never known they were alive if it weren't for you and this place," Damian whispered. He offered them a small smile, stole once last look at his family, and then began the rise back to the gym.

Damian exited the gym a few moments afterward, looking about the wasteland of a town. He scratched the side of his head lightly, wondering where to go next. Finally, Damian headed off away from the city and toward the path that, according to a sign, would lead him to Victory Road. Though Damian wasn't quite sure he was going this way, he pressed forward anyway. Just as he was about to fully step onto the route, there was a menacing cackle just in front of him.

Within moments, a black mist suddenly appeared and formed a shape of a Pokemon. Damian licked his lip and gnawed on it for a few moments, eyeing the Pokemon unsurely. He had never seen it before, nor had he ever heard of a Pokemon forming out of black mist. Damian couldn't even begin to describe the Pokemon, what with all of the colors and the evil grin and fangs. Damian's eyes were mostly locked on this Pokemon's teeth, but somehow managed to rip his gaze away and look at the Pokemon's brilliant red eyes.

"Anbelsyn," it snarled, grinning evilly. Damian blanched, sweat forming on his brow.

Though Damian was almost terrified, somehow he managed to move his hand to his belt. Damian tossed Charmeleon's Pokeball, and soon the very Pokemon was standing in front of Damian. He had been healed by the gym leaders, and Damian could only hope they could be strong enough to beat this thing. The only problem was, however, before Damian could utter an attack the creature chuckled harshly. It then did something, though Damian was unsure what, that suddenly submerged Charmeleon in a black light. Charmeleon roared in angoy, crumbling to the ground without much of a fight. Damian's eyes went almost impossibly wide as he felt the fear bubble to the surface.

"Cha...Charmeleon," Damian whispered. He shook his head and then grabbed Charmeleon's Pokeball again, recalling his fire type. He wasn't going to let Charmeleon get hurt this way.

The Anbelsyn thing laughed again and then began to float towards Damian, who took a step back. He swallowed harshly and ground his teeth together, attempting to work up some resolve. That, however, was where a roar sounded above him. Damian looked up just in time to see a large blue and silver Pokemon appear to stand against the Anbelsyn. Before anything happened, however, it turned to Damian. Damian let out a rush of air in the form of a gasp as he realized that it was the legendary time Pokemon Dialga.

"Dialga," Damian uttered.

Before anything else could happen, there was a rush of blue light. It slowly surrounded Damian, who felt and saw himself fading away. Damian screamed in utter terror, afraid of what was happening to him. He snapped his eyes shut, not wanting to see what would happen next. It was then that all feeling let go, and he felt himself black out and go.
