My friend told me that if yuo wait for 100 turns a timerball will nevr fail to catch a pokemon.

he also told me to delete calm mind and ice beam aon my Kyogre for waterfall and dive.

Is he right??? I mean for the first one, of course.

PS I didn't obey him for the Kyogre one:)

A timer ball does grow stronger as the battle wears on. I don't know if it ever a 100% guarantee, but I'm sure after a hundred turns it would be pretty strong.

And those are crap HM moves ment for a useless pokemon pretty much. It's a good thing you did keep calm mind and icebeam.

A timer balls catch rate goes up every 5 turns, but has a cap. It is never a garenteed catch, otherwise master balls would hold little value.

There should be a hard set rule in Pokemon land: never listen to your friends. They're stupid. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING they ever say is correct.

    Put that in the FAQ.

I don't use timer balls, but they are very tempting on first glance. But once i realised i had to wait a while to actually have a good effect, i laid off them.

The Timer Ball will no longer increase in effectiveness after 40 turns, and will have the same capture rate as using a Dusk Ball at night or a Quick Ball in the first few turns of the battle.

Waterfall isn't a bad move, as some Physical water types like Gyarados can make use of it. However Kyogre is a Pokémon that has superior Special stats, so it wouldn't work as well.
Hydro Pump, Water Spout or Surf would be better choices for Kyogre.

max catch rate for timer ball is 4, am i right? so after every 10 turns, the catch rate increases by 1.

I think not... I tried that personally (took me a long time) and after some (3 or 4?) tries, I did not get the last Pokemon I was trying to get... Also, if that ever happened, they would n't make Master Balls in the first place...

well they had no timerballs in past games and its kinda pokemon tradition to have masterball.

Id get rid of calm mind and teach it waterspout and keep icebeam dont listen to ur friends normally there wrong its all based on stragedy and ur battle style

Timer Balls been around Since Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald and Colosseum.

Keep in mind for a fight to last 100 turns, the opposing pokemon would have to have at least 25pp in each of it's 4 moves, or spend time asleep. Otherwise it starts to struggle and hurt itself.

I have had plenty of fights last close to the 70-100 round range, and i'm pretty sure my timer balls still would fail, so don't think they become 100% at that point.

I wouldn't have a clue really, but it's worth a try, all you really need is alot of time and a bunch of pokeballs really! xD I mean, as most said before, it could give you a 100% catch rate advantage, but, it'd take a hell of alot of patience to do that kinda thing. ^^'

Um, no. Just no. They were not in any 3rd gen games.

Um, what are you on about?
Timer Balls did appear in the R/S/E/Colosseum/XD. My Timer Ball caught Colosseum Metagross and the fact that i'm staring at a Timer Ball in my Ruby version's Pokémart right now says so.

    >_>

Guys, first of all when you see a number to describe a type of PokeBall, it isn't the catch rate. It shows how many times stronger that the Ball is than a normal PokeBall. Ultra Ball, with a number two, is two times as strong as a PokeBall.

    PokeBall x1
    Great Ball x1.5
    Ultra Ball x2
    Master Ball
Safari Ball - In RSE, the catch rate was x1.5 / In DP it is ∞
Net Ball - If it is a water or a bug type Pokemon, it is x3. Other pokemon are x1.
Dive Ball - If the Pokemon is caught underwater, it is x3.5 / Other is x1
Nest Ball - Can be x1-3. The formula would be (40 - Level) / 10. The higher the quotient, the higher the catch rate.
Repeat Ball - If you haven't caught, it is x1. If you have caught it before, it is x3.
Timer Ball - Can be x1-4. The equation is (# of turns + 10) / 10. The higher the quotient, the better. Only works up to 40 turns.
    Luxury Ball x1
    Premier Ball x1
Dusk Ball - If caught at night / cave, x4. Otherwise x1
    Heal Ball x1
Quick Ball - x1-4. 4 Catch rate at the beginning. Catch rate lowers every 5 turns by 1 point.

So in other words, the Timer Ball can go up to four times as powerful as a normal Pokemon. After 40 turns are up, the Timer Ball's catch rate will not change.

Well. I'm not sure about the Timer Ball. I wanted to use one on the 55th turn of battle and realised I had 7 spare quick balls. On my 53rd turn of battle against Giratina I threw out a Quick Ball and I almost cried. A Quick Ball caught it when a Timer Ball had failed.
