Tips to prevent SOS battles

SOS is a bit of a pain when you want to catch a Pokemon, because you're so used to putting it in the red (which will cause it to call for help). This is probably why they made Great Balls available early in the game, as you wouldn't need to drop the HP as low for them to succeed. I haven't had to much trouble with SOS battles, but I'm exploring ways to prevent it for the benefit of others.

I have found that Pokemon put to sleep aren't calling for help, but I need a larger sample size to be sure. Could you guys try it out and let everyone know if it consistently prevents Pokemon from calling for help?

As you have found out, Pokemon inflicted with sleep do not call for help. In fact, any status inflicted on a Pokemon works. Also, on later islands with higher leveled pokemon, I've found that they're less likely to call for help, so it should let up eventually.

In my experience if you knock out the original Pokémon (the one you started the battle against) the one helping may call for help but it may fail, need someone to confirm this though, however iam on the second island and whenever a Pokémon calls for help it usually fails now
