I don't. Right now I'm planning to use my custom (created) tiles instead of hgss ones because I believe by creating custom tiles, I am creating an entire new (and fitting) atmosphere of my made-up games. If worst comes to the worst where I can't make good tiles, I'll pick the one that fits my game the best.

I won't use HG/SS tiles unless somebody manages to darken/lighten them - I hate having things in between, also the 3D style could come out odd in RMXP - I'll stick with my favourites, FLRG or DPPt ;)

One thing you have to realize, and I'm not trying to sound mean here but,
People will generally use the best.
Now sure, you're a great spriter... but Kyle really is an expert at what he does.

Again, not trying to offend, just making a point.

You see, the problem with your point is that it's your opinion. You can't really use an opinion as an argument.

And Kyle has been doing this much longer than I have. He obviously has more experience, but that doesn't mean our tiles are of such varying quality that they look bad together. Mine are quite a bit brighter than his, which (for the lazy people that don't want to make new palettes) obviously clash a little and deter people from using them.

And see, you (right now) are coming off as one of those elitist morons that don't try anything new and only follow "the standard." I'm not trying to bash you or get into a flame war or anything, but honesty, get your nose out of the clouds and just try something different. I don't care whether you use my tiles or not, but there are plenty of others out there that are utilizing Kyledove's latest style and do it wonderfully.

One last note, the tiles in my signature do not reflect my latest work, in case that was what you were using to judge.

I'm not offended at all at your statement, but I am sad that you can only seem to use opinions in arguments. It just doesn't work.

I actually prefer Alistair's tiles over Kyledoves, Kyle's tiles aren't that bright and colorful, which is what I prefer using most of the time.

"You're an elitist moron but I'm not bashing you" . . . Hm?
Calling me names for saying someone is a better spriter than you is horribly childish and conceited.
It's like you're throwing a tantrum or something.

Regardless of how subjective it is, and how much you want to complain that people are only using his because they are the "standard", far more people are using his tiles than yours, and that says something.

Quite frankly coming from years of spriting experience, and I don't care how elitist I sound because if you're honestly so up yourself you can't see that just maybe you aren't the best tile spriter ever, I don't care for your opinion; his are sprited better.
Yours are brighter? Okay. His are sprited better. He is the better pixel artist.

NOW, upon looking at your latest tiles; your tiles in his style are actually pretty good. That, however, doesn't make you any less of a conceited moron for strolling into a thread and complaining about how you deserve more and how his are overused and wah wah wah.

Get over yourself.

Ummm... For one, you took my quote completely wrong. "You are coming off as an elitist...." Does not equal "you are an elitist..." I know, that was a bad choice of wording on my part, but I wasn't explicitly calling you an elitist moron, just saying your attitude towards the subject is a bit elitist.

Second, I was only using my situation as an example. I wasn't trying to complain. If I was, I would have bawed throughout the entire post. I took what I see and just translated it into words for the readers of this thread.

Third, I know I'm not the best spriter ever. It's just something I like to do for fun in my free time (though recently I have grown bored of it). If I were trying to be the best spriter around, you would certainly see a lot more stuff from me everywhere.

Fourth, the post directed towards you was another observation. I was not stating my opinion, but just what I saw. I'm not trying to judge you based on your preferences in sprite choices, but the fact is laid out like this: opinions aren't arguments, they're argumentative.

Fifth, and lastly, if I need to get over myself, then why were you the one to say "people tend to use the best..."? I was simply stating my own views on the subject from a spriter's point of view, which is pretty rare around here.

Okay, I am done and I won't say another word on the subject. If you decide to say anything more, I won't reply back.

Hmmm, I like Alistair's tiles, they're good, really good. But my main statement with this thread was "the fashion". I thought ALL the people used certain kind of tiles just because they're updated(i'm talking about Heart Gold and Soul Silver), but I learned that that I was wrong.

Personally, I think Kyledove is a professional. So, not just someone could over pass him. I mean, it's like if an amateur architect would want to be like an elite one who have designed... the Twin Towers? (just an example). I personally think that he is very good, and his carreer, or something related to it, is what gives him experience. In my case, I make my own interfaces, I'm making all the interfaces of my game and making my 3d engine with my 3d models aswell, and I'm very good on it. That means that each one of us has a special skill.

Did you get my point?

Well I used r/s/e tiles at first in my game, then experimented with d/p/p and it looked a lot better with the latter. I am using kyledoves tiles as well, but only grass, trees etc and I am saturating them a little to be colourful because I just hate the "bland" look, it just seeme to not be Pokemon. For buildings I am using a large variety created by others, and some by myself. Inside will be r/s/e instead, so there is still a little "variety" left in.

I agree except for the part about the bland look. My game takes place during cold and dark times meaning everything is grayish and sullen.

Try not to get to the point where we have to throw a slight dig and insult each other.
We have a small community and I'm going to start taking a "No tolerance" policy towards insults being slugged around here.
All it does is upset people and drive them away from discussions.
It's fine if you want to get your opinion across, but remember to listen to everyone's point of view, no one is perfect and 100% right on anything.

Remember we are all here in this section because we like game development, so it means we all have something in common. Try not to get offended by what people say here. Play it cool guys. I love reading through your comments and opinions, and in a way, it's great to see you all fired up and passionate. The down side of being passionate is that you'll say things you shouldn't.
Ima gonna let you finish (as Kanye West would say)- but I'll have to start dealing infractions if more insults pop up.
But again, keep the threads alive and have your say.

I don't know why some guys get upset with this. I didn't want my thread to cause this.

Mmmm, I already got it. Neo-Dragon, close this thread, it's not necessary anymore. I know you are a little upset Ravecat, since you wrote "4564608 threads a week about it", that means you were upset, there's no reason for you to do that.

I have to disagree with you, it's necessary for me. I've been analyzing many guys from here and finally got results. Then, this thread is of no use anymore, so you can close it now Neo-Dragon.
