Question: Top Friends?

Hey I was wondering, could we maybe, if possible, instead of having just 4 random friends on our profile, can we choose our top 4? Only if this is a vBulletin option that is.

maybe it's always random so your other "minor" friends can atleast be acknowledged.

Is that really the fault of the person who selects the top friends?

Top friends is just a way to SHOW which friends you talk to the most, or get along with the most... It doesnt mean that you're singling out people..

vBullein does not have this option and I doubt there is a plugin out there which makes that possible...
Also it shows 6 random friends just to correct the statement of the 1st post.

This would be a good idea, until people start arguing about not being in top, or something along the lines of that! it would cause conflict. As Zet said conflict should be avoided so this wouldn't work, unless people really didn't care!

I don't really see the need. It's only a very minor improvement, if you can even call it that, and as someone else has stated previously, it can mean fights may break out. I don't see the problem. What happens if you have more friends than are able to be added to the 'Top Friends'? And more importantly, they are all your friends. If you can put places on friendship, then I don't think that's very fair. Sure, you'll have your 'best' friend, but I still think it's wrong to have some over others.

Hm, as far as I know, the latest version of VBulletin software (and the one that PokéCcommunity runs on) is 3.7.2 which does not allow you to customise your friends list and choose top friends. For now, the six that show up on your page randomly are going to stay being shown randomly. With newer versions of VBulletin, anything's possible though and it's probable that this feature will become enabled.

As for your comment on forums not being like Myspace, Bebo or Facebook, you're wrong. The description of VBulletin 3.7.2 is that it makes VBulletin the newest social networking site.

I think it's natural to put them on top list if they are always talking to you, kind to you etc...

Yes, but i was referring to the friends that aren't at the top, or the ones which you have the same fondness of.

I like this idea. 8/ I pretty much friend everyone who requests it of me but of all those, I only talk to some and even then I only consider a handful to be friends. I'd prefer my friends always be displayed than some random noob who added me and never came back to PC. :P There isn't a way to do this with vB on its own though and I don't know if it's worth it enough to install a plugin (assuming one exists for this).

I've searched the Mod and Plugin communities, atm a plugin like that is not available.
Well basicly it's not very hard to code...but I don't know the coding syntax of vBulletin plugins. I'm only familar with MyBB plugins (Coded Visitor Messages for MyBB yeah xD)
Maybe someone of PC is able to. If not PPNSteve could requesting this plugin at the mod communities.

I also like the Idea due to mostly the reasons Lightning used above and also that Pokecommunity will also benefit from more people being nicer to each other.
