Question: Tournament Central, perhaps?

Just a wondering cause from a tournament creator. We get a lot of coverage in the battle area as it is and that's great so I totally wouldn't mind sticking to how things are. With all the random battle topics, however, it gets confusing and sometime the tournaments get pushed down pretty far causing some of our active people that we need to be on to finish matches overlook us and then they get DQ'd for not showing up, etc..well it's just a suggestion. Perhaps in the future (it's not mega crazy right now but it'd be really awesome if it could happen!) a separate sub-forum for tournaments?

I think people looking for some matches and mayhem would find their home in a sub-forum simply for tourneys. Plus it'd be a plus in the organization category.


Any ideas? This might have been brought up for clans sometime in the past but..well we all know how well clans turned out. Just a suggestion ^_^.

It wouldnt be good becuase evryone would know make touneys tourneys ar battles and they should stay in the same sub forum

at most if yo ukeep getting more poular you will be stickied.

It might make it a bit easier for Deano and CME to keep track of random threads that are randomly popping up all over the place in D/P/P. Also might help with the creation of unapproved tournaments, at the top of the sub forum could be a rules and suggestion sticky for how to make tournaments and such.

Either way, I think something should be done about the ridiculous amount of random tournaments/battle threads that serve no purpose. I mean, I saw like 6 closed threads in a row today in the battle stadium...

Yeah, like I said there aren't a huge amount going on (mostly because people who create them don't get approval, make terrible prizes, don't give it a cool concept, etc. so no one joins and it becomes inactive.)

But I think you're right, there aren't a huge amount going on right now. As much as I wouldn't want attention drawn away from our tournaments at Extreme Speed, i think the place could really benefit from some unique users/creators that can gain some momentum. Then we actually would need a subform =].

Like I said just request to get it stickied there is no need to have a tournament subforum just like thier was no need to make a clan subforum back when clans were popular

We have tournaments that don't even make it past the sign ups. I don't think we need a section full of dead tournament hreads.

Ryan's saying that the separate section would deter the creation of tournaments that are doomed from the start. It would be an easy way to regulate them. They partially die because the battle stadium is cluttered with threads that get 1 or 2 responses and then die (as they should) but it's preventing people from seeing the tournaments, thus they don't get attention.

And like I've already stated, it'd be nice if people stepped up and created some tournaments so players could have a variety to choose from, but no one else thinks of anything interesting. Besides, I also stated we can wait to decide until people actually do start invading the battle stadium from Platinum speculators and what not.

It was just a suggestion ^_^ A prefix is lame, and not necessary so we don't need it. And we've already tried to do something like a sticky, but Deano agreed that the stickies are only needed for something all members need to see.

A "sub section" isn't necessary, by that logic, we don't need it.

Make a sticky with links to all of the currently approved tourneys. This means that people will not lose track of their tournament.
Also, I just suggest that people subscribe to threads they want to keep tabs on.

I realise that pathetic tourneys are being made, but maybe they should deleted, not just locked.

Although there is a section for battle logs, which is rather inactive, so maybe a tourney section with the need for thread approval would work.

Postman, you seem to have it out for me sometimes X_X I just meant it's silly to have a "Tournament" prefix when the title of the thread has the word Tournament in it already.

Well, staff only delete when it's severe or pure spam, along those lines, so yeah, I don't think that'll fly. ;/ Also, question, what gives tournaments the right to a sub-forum? What about leagues, they sure the same damping effect, why are tournaments singled out with leagues in the same boat?

Frankly, I think there are plenty of ways to keep your tournaments in the spotlight. Tournaments fall under the general area of Wi-Fi battling, I don't really see the knockout point as to why they deserve a sub-forum. I just think it's part of the thread circle of life, no one can have their thread up on the front page 24/7, unless it's a sticky, no matter who pushes down who, someone has gotta fall, right? Whether it's someone's individual battle thread, a league, or a tournament, I don't think we can just divide them all up to satisfy everyone.

Oh I agree completely with that, again this was just a toss up suggestion. In no way was I planning on raiding the staff room with a torch and pitchfork because tournaments are being discriminated against XD. I'm perfectly fine with the way things are going and we can surely keep it that way.

And I agree, leagues can certainly have the same rights tournaments have. Problem is, except for the pretty lack-luster Extreme Gym, there isn't a single thing you could call a League active in PC's Wifi Battle Stadium, other than our Extreme Tour. (We are in no way affiliated with the Extreme Gym :P)

Honestly I wish some people would come up with some new ideas to create some new tournaments and leagues. It'd be fun to have a bunch to choose from, which i guess is what I've turned this topic into rather than asking for a sub-forum. :mudkip^_^:
