    [PokeCommunity.com] Trading with X and Y and Mega Evolution

    When I saw the cover art of Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby you can notice how Groudon and Kyogre look kinda different. Both have yellow parts of thier bodies and look slightly different. I think this means we are getting a mega Groudon and Kyogre. But that brings up a quesion about trading. If they make new mega evolutions for Sceptile and Swampert, how will we be able to trade with X and Y? The mega stones won't exist there meaning we won't be able to trade mega stones with X and Y. That would mean the only way to use a mega Kyogre would be to buy Alpha Sapphire. The same thing is true with WiFi battles. If there is no data for Mega Groudon in Pokemon Y, you won't be able to wifi battle across versions. This means that X and Y would no longer be used competitivly or at tournaments or anything else online. Then if Pokemon Z comes out and introduces more mega stones, we'll have to buy that. It's wierd how after 1 year, X and Y will not be able to do much online unless AS/OR doesn't introduce mega stones. Well, what do you think? I hope trading is a thing!
     
    Maybe they will patch the new mega evolutions into x/y. I always thought it was weird that only torchic got a mega evolution. :/
    It would be a shame if trading between x/y and as/or would be limited.

    But wouldn't that happen with the current 1.2 patch too?
    Never tried that and it might work. But yet... the game could just ask you to update to load the savegame.

    That wouldn't be a patch. The Patches only fixed errors brought about by fixing the codes within the games remotely. Adding in data for new Pokemon, stats, moves, images, are DLCs which TPC and Gamefreak both said aren't going to happen.

    Like with Platinum, Black 2 and White 2, The pokemon effected will revert to their original forms or be ineligible to compete with the older games. The new items can't be traded backwards and the Pokemon cannot hold it when competing against the older game, or auto removes the item. If the form changes aren't more than aesthetic changes like Keldeo, they'll simply revert.

    As far as Trading is concerned, since ORAS is a Gen 6 game, they'll be fully capable of trading with XY with the above restrictions and all the normal restrictions in place.
     
    Easy. They would trade lock the mega stones like they did with the Latiosite and Latiasite in X&Y. That would solve all the troubles, but they will have to make sure we get all mega stones in the games.
     
    Yeah, I hope that Mega Evolutions come back for Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby. It would be glorious if we could trade Megas between XY and ORAS. To me it would be dissapointing if Game Freak did not allow this.
     
    I'm guessing they would allow every Pokemon to be traded to XY and back. I don't see what would be the issue. Maybe they could further support this feature by having the stones in ORAS and the Pokemon in XY or vice versa?
     
    The issue would be new Pokemon and items like Mega Sceptile and its stone would not be compatible with X and Y. A solution to that problem would be creating a patch for the Kalos games, and to prevent file corruption, they could make it mandatory to patch the game, making it impossible to play otherwise, and then removing any option to delete the patch.
