I'd like to preface this by saying that I'm entirely new to ROM hacking. While all of the tutorials and guides here are for completely changing the game and stuff, all I'd like to do is translate Fire Red into a language that I am making. Just translate the game, nothing else at all. I'm not very good at coding or anything, but what would be the easiest and simplest way to just change the text of the game? I've checked out XSE a bit, but that seems to be more for making brand new dialogues, rather than editing preexisting ones.
I know that this is a pretty basic question, but all of the guides seem to be for doing things way to complicated for my scope.

Ok so I'm going to disagree strongly. STRONGLY. AdvanceText is a buggy program that will slowly corrupt your ROM and will break your project. Don't use it.

XSE is currently the most useful tool to use for changing text. And yes, you should be using it because it'll actually do what you tell it to do. I have no doubt that you will be repointing text due to space issues, because the word lengths are different across languages.

You're making your own language? Why?

You're creating your own language? Uh, how will anyone play the game then if it's a made up language?

Oh well, your choice. Use XSE or PKSV(UI) and advanced map. Select each Sprite/overworld and open their script (after setting default script editor in a-map) then you can simply edit all the speech/text. For things like the menu, items, Pokemon, attacks, ect... There are different tools for that. Concentrate on dialogue first though.
