The Girafarig leapt silently upstream, hidden by the cover of the bushes. This time she had left the clan at daybreak, hoping that they'd still be asleep by the time she returned. Yes, today was the day that she'd finally get a chance to explore that lake!

Grinning to herself, she dashed further along the path, maneuvering around a few rocks every now and then.

Come to think of it.. What am I looking for, anyway? What do I want to find? She ended up thinking to herself, although her pace didn't slow. Perhaps.. Maybe one of those shadow beings? That would be scary.. She shook her head, banishing the thought from her head.

"Yes, the lake is just up ahead! Just keep following the river.." The Girafarig whispered aloud, glancing out of the brush just for a second, to look at the river. Suddenly, a speck of bright orange caught her eye. Slowing to a halt, the Girafarig turned towards the edge of the brush, hoping to get a better view. It looked like a group of Pokemon had stopped for a drink, and were now sociallizing.. The orange she had seen were the feathers of a Torchic.

The curiousity flooded into her, the temptation of staying to watch was too great. She fell silent, crouching down lower, finding a comfortable place to eavesdrop. It's not like they were going to say anything confidential, right?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Omanyte propelled herself to the right just in time--the Huntail's Ice Beam surging straight past her and into a nearby wall of coral, shattering it to bits.

It was the shadow Huntail again.. It had held it's grudge from her escape the last time, and it was now attempting to destroy her, judging from the sheer fury in it's eyes, not to mention the tremendous effort it was putting into it's attacks.

At the moment, the Omanyte and Huntail were near the edge of the lake, their 'battle' waging near the beginning of the river. This also meant that she was far away from the general population at the center of the lake--no calling for help.

Snail wasted no time in jetting away, trying to put at least a few more meters' distance between her and the opponent. She didn't have the right attacks to hit it with, so she'd just have to find another way to escape.

With a mighty roar, the Huntail gave chase, it's glowing red eyes the main feature of it's infuriated face.

Frantically, the Omanyte searched for somewhere to hide.. But there wasn't even a patch of seaweed to dive in. There was only one other way, but it was insane..

Oh well, she'd have to go with it.

As the Huntail gained on Snail, closing in for a Bite, she made one desperate move onto the embankment, crawling up the slope vigorously, eventually breaking the surface of the water. This action caused yet another of the shadow Pokemon's attacks to miss, but it wasn't about to give up just yet.

As Snail finally made it onto the land, the Huntail leaped out of the water, baring it's teeth as it dived downwards for another Bite.

"Meep!" Was all the Omanyte could get out before she Withdrew into her shell, raising her Defense just a little before the shadow Pokemon bit into her hard shell. Rearing in pain, the Huntail jump a bit backwards, only to find that it was no where near the water, resulting in limited motion, which was flopping about.

Acting quickly, Snail hurriedly came out of her shell, crawling as fast as she could down the river's embankment, staying out of the water. The Huntail was obviously going to return to the water at some point, so she didn't want to be in there.

Roaring in fury, the Huntail began to follow the Omanyte down the embankment, flopping forwards a few inches at a time. It was actually quite a sight--an Omanyte crawling as fast as she could in order to get away from a Huntail that slowly flopped after her.

Snail squinted, seeing something in the distance. Were her eyes decieving her, or was there a group of Pokemon downstream? Making a split-second decision, the Omanyte decided to crawl towards them, hoping that they'd help her get rid of the monster behind her.

[ooc]: Yay! Plushie! +glomples+ Don't worry, ya didn't miss much. XD I hate to act without Ego, but I can't just leave Snail hanging... ;___;]
~----~

After nodding silently at the comment of his companion, Na-Na's ears began to twitch with suspision, flipping backwards to hear the faint sounds behind him. "Huh... ?"

Turning, the feline lowered his head and sniffed, hoping to catch wind of the whereabouts of whatever might be approaching. Na-Na caught scent of a... Fishy smell. Squinting off into the distance, Na-Na almost had to do a double-take. He could almost make out a small, swirly and sparkly think being chased by... Something... Wet. And it was flopping violently. As if the "sparkly" factor wasn't enough, Na-Na hoped that it would turn out to be a fish-out-of-water. Without a second thought, the little pink kitty took off towards them, this time not being noticed by Puurii, who was too caught up in Kindle and Kuro's affairs.

OOC: Boo-yizzle, POSTING SPREE TIME!!! XD

As the Skitty scampered off, the Girafarig followed with her eyes upstream. Apparently it was heading for.. Whatever swirly thing that was, and a snake thing. Hmm. Deciding not to make a move, Twilight kept her noise level to the absolute minimum, observing the scene further.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Snail kept hurrying along, her feelers becoming pretty tired after a while. Oh, she hoped she'd be able to get away.. That Huntail wasn't giving up, she could still hear it flopping behind her..

That's when she noticed one of the distant figures moving towards her. A new hope arising in her, she hurried downward at a faster pace. She didn't care if it was a friend or foe, it was still someone that could help her!

The little creature was quickly coming into view. Na-Na's pace quickened, his breathing heavy. He knew what was happening now. That kind of Pok?mon -- whatever it was... It was just too small to be on the land, running like this. It was in trouble. And the fury that drove the flopping creature on was enough to make him realize what he was really up against.

Na-Na had almost reached the small Omanyte now. He could see the worried look on it's face.

"Hey! You over there!" He called out. "What's going on?!"

Snail couldn't really make a response, she was almost out of breath at this point. She could see the other figure much more clearly now--it was a Skitty, she had rarely ever seen one up close before. The land Pokemon never interacted with those in the lake..

"Help! Please!" She shouted, gasping to make up for the lost breath.

The Huntail roared again, not willing to give up it's prey so easily. It's eyes became even more bloodshot than they already were, the creature attempting to fire an Ice Beam, but could not properly do so because of it's awkward position.

At long last, Snail had finally come up to the Skitty, finding nothing else to do but crawl behind him with whatever energy she had left, trembling quietly as she Withdrew into her shell.

At this, the Huntail's rage rose up again, the Pokemon attempting once again to launch an Ice Beam.

Apon hearing the desperate cry, something fired up inside Na-Na, a fire that had never been lit like this before. His curious expression shifted into a vicious glare, protecting the small snail that hid behind him.

The flopping Pok?mon had halted with them, poising into a very awkward position. It's body was slender, yet it's jaws were gaping and terrifing. Something was forming at it's mouth... Something glowing with an intense light. An Ice Beam attack. Panicing for a second, Na-Na knew that he could not withstand such a force.

Grasping onto her shell, Na-Na clung to Snail and hurled them both out of the way, into the brush nearby, barely escaping the beam that shot past them. Na-Na's large ball on the end of his tail had been singed by the beam, now coated with ice and too great a weight for his weak tail to lift. "Move!" He hissed, nudging the Omanyte. "Move before it attacks again!"

Twilight's ears perked up as she heard brush moving up ahead. This sparked a new curiousity in her, one that longed to move there and see what was going on rather than stay and watch these other Pokemon talk. Lifting quietly to her feet, the Girafarig bounded up the path, being careful to remain silent while she dashed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Snail peeked out of her shell as the Skitty gave her an order to move. Staring up at her saviour for a second, she nodded quietly, then crawled deeper into the brush, where she was able to hide for the moment. Burrowing herself into the foreign leaves, she Withdrew again, hoping that it would be enough to shield her from view.

Outside the bushes, the Huntail roared again in confusion. He had seen his target move into the brush, but he did not have the energy to flop in there, too. Instead, he chose a random location in the brush, charging up another Ice Beam, then firing another volley.

Hearing the cry of the beast sent a shiver down Na-Na's spine. His small legs were shaking amongst the dead leaves at his feet, causing the brush to tremble around him. The crash of Huntail's second firing of it's beam made him hit the dirt, feeling the large pellets of leaf and ice hit his side. 'The Ice Beam must've hit somewhere down by the edge of the brush...'

Pulling himself up to his feet, Na-Na's eyes caught sight of the Huntail's glowing red ones. The orbs were almost on fire with a rage he could not understand. Without thinking, the Skitty shut his eyes tight and began to Sing. The thrum that started deep in his throat slowly grew in volume, a melody that both soothed and shook all that heard it. It was his only hope that he could put the Pok?mon to sleep, for he knew he could not take on something of that size and power. Hopefully, Snail would not hear this while she was Withdrawn in her shell...

The second roar of the Huntail was cut off abruptly as Na-na's song floated through the air, causing the Pokemon to stop and listen. It was so soothing.. And it made him so very sleepy..

Within the next few moments, the creature had collapsed onto the ground, completely asleep. It's breaths were obvious, as it was already very tired from flopping all about.

Within Snail's shell, every sound was muffled, unless you spoke directly next to her, so she really couldn't hear much. As the roaring of the beast ceased, she couldn't help but crawl back out of her shell, just in time for the Sing to end.

Slowly and silent, the Omanyte made her way out of the hiding place she had chosen, peeking around cautiously before spotting the Skitty again. Slowly, Snail crawled forwards until she was in front of the other Pokemon. Staring quietly for just a moment, she finally spoke up..

"Th.. Thank-you. That was very kind. A-And brave." Snail said softly, finding nothing more to say.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Twilight gently slowed to a halt once again as she neared the place where she had heard sounds. Well, now there was mostly silence, and that made her wonder if she had just been hearing things.

Thoroughly confused, the Girafarig stayed put for a moment, pondering what she should do next.

Heaving a sigh, Na-Na stopped his song and turned to the Omanyte that had crawled up to him. It spoke in a quiet, shy voice, which the Skitty found extremely cute. No longer able to hold back, Na-Na lept forwand, forgetting all about what had happened, to tackle the little creature and knock it over in the process. "Aww! You're just so cute! Where did you come from? Why are you so sparkly? What's your name?" He began baraging her with questions, his curious look back like it had never left. "I'm Na-Na! Pleased to meet you!"

OOC: Oh gawd.. Had to say lolness. XD

IC:

Snail was utterly shocked by the tackle, which caused her to naturally withdraw into her shell. Again. As he spoke, however, she slightly crawled back out, slightly confused at all the questions, but made her best effort to answer them.

"I-I live in the lake.. I don't know why I'm.. Sparkly.. And my name is Snail.. Hi.." She spoke softly again, not really knowing what to expect. This guy.. Na-na.. He was quite the interesting fellow. And perhaps he knew stuff about those shadow beings..

Kindle turned around at once as she heard the distant roar of the Huntail, keeping senses peeled should the creature be foolish enough to attack them. The Torchic would have like nothing more than to track down the source of this noise and annihilate the creature responsible, but she decided against it. After all, Kuro was still out investigating the previous noise and Kindle knew that she could never forgive herself if she let her whimsical charge come to harm. Onfe of her soon-to-be companions took a quite different approach to the situation however and ran off, throwing all caution to the winds.

"Na-na! Don't!" Kindle hissed, but it was all in vain. The cat pok?mon had already dissapeared from hearing rage.

The next few moments were spent in suspense as several loud roars, similar to the first one, became audible until they abruptly ceased. Kindle raised an eyebrow, surely that Skitty couldn't possess the power to take on a shadow pok?mon?

"Perhaps we should go and investigate?" the Torchic suggested to Puurii after a pause.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From his hiding spot by the squabbling strangers, Kuro heard the roars as well and felt a distinct urge to bolt. But the way in which the Absol had said 'strangers' had left the Meowth with an instinctive feeling that he should stay and observe. Not daring to make a sound in case he would be noticed by the dark type, Kuro continued to maintain his vigil behind the rock, listening to the seemingly endless squabble between the Cyndaquil, who apparently went by the name of 'Caesar', and the Cleffa, wishing with considerable fervor that he could be somewhere else at the moment.

For a moment, the Cleffa and the Cyndaquil remained completely silent; they exchanged worried glances, and moved closer together, but neither spoke. They looked up at the absol for reassurance.
"Boudicca...?" The cyndaquil asked, watching her expression change. Evidently, she decided the strange group was not a threat, because she began to pad over, leaving Pandora and Caesar underneath the rock face.
"Let me investigate..." she muttered to the two little pokemon, and bounded closer. She could see a few now; there was a mareep, and a torchic, and a meowth (who was watching Pandora and Caesar sneakily). Why were they all gathered together?
She walked over to the group, her head held high, her tail in the air, and sat down in front of Kindle and Puuri. She glanced down at them all regally (for she was a great deal taller than them), before dipping her head.

"Greetings." she said vaguely, as if including the whole group in that one word. Sh watched them all carefully, as if expecting one to leap and attack. After all, why on earth were they all on the mountain? They had to be up to something shady.... meanwhile, Pan and Caesar watched from behind a rock.

OOC: Erm, no there wasn't. Na-na the Skitty is somewhere in the bushes with Snail and Kuro the Meowth is actually spying on Boudicca & Co. The only ones by the river are Kindle and Puurii.

OOC: Oh good, Plushie got to talk to someone. ^-^ Alright, might as well join the group.

Miyako & Needles
-------------------

"Look Miyako... others!" said Needles, stopping in his tracks and gazing to the other side of the river.

Miyako haulted, and peered over. It was a pair of pokemon; a Torchic and Mareep. She had no idea that such different creatures could be so close with one another. It was unnatural; like Needles following her. She shrugged. "Let's just keep going," she said, preferring another spot to drink. This one looked too full.

Needles raced up and blocked Miyako's path. "But Miyako! Maybe they're doing something! What if they need help? How about we at least ask them?" suggested Needles.

"I don't want anything to do with a bunch of troublemaking idiots," she said, a bit annoyed that the cactus had leapt in front of her.

"Come on! Let's just see," he said, looking stubborn. Miyako sighed. This cactus would be the death of her.

Turning to look at the others, she shook her head, "Well, how do we get over there? I can fly, but I'm afraid you've no wings."

"Oh...," Needles dropped his excited look, "That's right... well, I can swim! The water's not too fast, and I would love to take a dip!"

Miyako's eyes narrowed. She had hoped that he would have been detered from going over there because of having to swim. Though, it seemed to be making him even more excited. "Fine. I'll see you when you reach the other side then," she said, a flapped her wings gracefully as she took off.

Oh how it felt so good to fly high up again. Being with that orange cactus made it so that Miyako could hardly fly, and she was glad to be able to do the thing she loved again. She even did a little twirl in the sky. From her high up veiwing point though, she could see a Cleffa and a Cyndaquil along with a hiding Meowth. Then also a couple others. It was like a gathering of different pokemon or something. The Cyndaquil and Cleffa seemed safe enough to talk to though. 'Strange,' she thought, 'Why aren't they with the others by the river?' She swooped down to next to where the Cyndaquil and Cleffa were.

"Excuse me. Perhaps you two can tell me why so many of you are grouped together over here?" she asked, looking at them intently.

Meanwhile, Needles was attempting to make his way through the cold water. "Guhhh!" he groaned, fighting against the current. It was a good thing his feet were so pointy; they could dig into the ground and hold him straight as he walked through the river.

The Cyndaquil shrugged in a 'I-don't-really-care' way. "How am I to know? We just followed Boudicca here..." he gestured towards the absol, who was busy looking majestic. He dropped into a sitting position, in a similar position to Boudicca. "What are you doing up here? Ay?" he asked, eyeing Miyaki adamantly

The Cleffa, however, gave a squeak of excitement and rushed to stand beside Miyaki. "Hello! Who're you? I'm Pandora, that's Caesar... it's cold up here, isn't it?" she said, very quickly, and grabbed the Taillow's foot and began to shake it. If she had been any other pokemon, it probably would have been and extremely rude and obnoxious thing to do; luckily, at her young age, and with her bright, eager smile, it didn't seem too bad.

Kindle turned to watch the newcomer, her agitation building once more. She and Kuro hadn't run into other pok?mon for almost a week now until this point. And suddenly strangers were popping up all around? Her eyes narrowed, this was just too suspicious.

"Greetings." the Torchic replied with slightly strained politeness "Who are you and why do you see fit to intrude upon us?"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Meep..." Kuro muttered, crouching a bit further as he heard the rustling of wings from above and noticed a Tailow swoop down and begin to question the two small pok?mon. I hope she didn't see me... the Meowth thought nervously, slowly beginning to edge her way towards the spot where Kindle would be waiting for him. This was getting far too risky.

Miyako & Needles
--------------------

The little Cleffa named Pandora shook Miyako's foot happily, Miyako was surprised she was so friendly, after all, they were complete strangers. It was very rude of her to do too, but she was young, and probably didn't have the proper training that her kind had.

"Hm... well, my name is Miyako and it's not very cold to me. However, I have feathers covering my body and so that keeps me warmer than you or your friend Caesar," she said, nodding to acknowledge the Cyndaquil.

"Boudicca...?" she conitnued, thinking quickly. She could have sworn she had heard that name before from somewhere, but she couldn't remember, and she forgot about it quickly. Likely it was her mind playing tricks on her.

----------------------

Needles was having a time at trying to cross the water. It was a good deal more difficult than he had wagered, and when he finally got across it, he collapsed down onto the bank of the river, panting.

"Ugh... okay... I would've rather... had wings like Miyako...," he said, looking up, hoping to find his friend standing nearby. However, the only thing he saw were a Mareep, and Torchic, and an Absol a few feet away.

"Miyako?" he said, feeling a bit worried.

OOC: Yay for waking up early and finding out you get to stay home. XD

Twilight was utterly confused at this point, not knowing which way to turn. She could keep going up ahead, and if she found nothing, end up by the lake. However.. The Pokemon she had seen by the river were quite interesting. They didn't seem to be a part of her clan, and there wasn't another one for a few miles out.

Making a rather quick decision, the Girafarig turned to face back downstream, then began to prance down the path again, jumping over rocks embedded into the ground, and making her way slowly back to where she had been before.

OOC: This shortness must DIE.

The cleffa gave a happy squeak. "Feathers? Wow!" and she began to stroke Miyaki's tail feathers, a look of awe on her face. "You're very pretty..." she cooed at the feathers.

The cyndaquil scoffed at Miyaki's questioning manner. "Boudicca's that Absol..." he gestured towards her, "She looks after us... You mess with her, you mess with us!" he said, in a harsh voice that didn't suit his tiny body at all.

----------------------------

The absol gave Kindle a stern stare. "I'm Boudicca. I'm intruding because you're here, on this mountain....And I wondered why." she narrowed her eyes, and leaned lower. She had never seen pokemon, except maybe the odd piloswine, delibird or jynx, up on the cliffs before now.
Hearing hooves behind her, Boudicca turned to spot a Girafarig making her was precariously down the river bank. This was getting weirder by the minute....
