Hi everyone! New to the forums, pretty sure i have chosen the correct area for this thread so i can only hope i'm not grave-digging an old idea. I did search though, it didn't yield any results.
Now, something I have been thinking about for a long while now, probably while i was playing pearl, is the idea of having triple typed pokemon and dual type moves.
What I want to know is whether you guys think that this is possible, likely, unlikely, a good idea and how it would affect general gameplay and competetive battling.
Personally I would love to see it happen, I think it would add a cool new level of strategy to battling, you could have a broader range of types in your party and potentially do up to 8X damage in one move! However I find it unlikely, unfortunately.

As cool as the concept sounds, it's way too confusing to calculate damage if a Pokemon has 3 types and/or 2-type moves.

Yeah i figured that that would make it a bit too confusing. But still, i think it could be a neat thing. Maybe a battle frontier with a selection of new specialty pokes that you can use just for that type of battle?

I'm not really in favor with this idea mainly because the "already complicated" pokemon battle system will become even MORE complicated if triple types and double type moves were to be implemented.

I wonder how moves like scald would work because that would be water/fire haha

Sounds like an interesting idea, however, as already stated calculating battle damage and such will be impossible. What if a Pokemon with an immune ability [Volt Absorb] is attacked by an Electric/Ground move? What would happen? :o Plus it would just screw up the metagame so bad that everyone would just quit. \:

Yeah. I had thoughts about dual-typed moves, but it would just be too much. Imagine a blaziken using a fire-fighting blaze kick on a Tyranitar. What would the outcome be, in terms of multipliers? Resists the fire part, but takes quad from the fighting, so overall 2x?
