So someones joined and I know they've trolled/spammed loads on another website. Most of it was deleted but they weren't banned due to lack of administration. Can anyone do anything?

I don't think they are allowed to pre-emptively ban, they have to actually break a rule. Otherwise people could just say someone they don't like has spammed/trolled other forums.

Okay, I'll be more specific. They spammed loads on my games thread on another forum, so much it had to be locked. They followed me all over the internet and even managaed to somehow destroy a forum I made for it. They've now come here and are posting on it, what they're posting isn't against the rules, it's just so annoying to see them posting there and only there, but not being bannable.

Your best option is to wait and see if they carry on the same attitude here. If you see them breaking rules then simply report them. Whereas if you just assume that the member is going to act the same and you ban them, it's unfair to that member as their attitude may differ from forum to forum.

    This is true.

What happens on other forums generally has no bearing as to what happens here. Even if someone's been trolling elsewhere, they'd have to actually break our rules first before we could lay down our own ban.

(Although there can be some solace in the fact that if a person's well-known for being a rule breaker, then it's technically only a matter of time before they're banned here as well for...well, breaking more rules. :P)

But yeah, if what a person's doing here isn't bannable, then...they won't be banned, simple as that.

Well, they've only ever posted on my thread, and when they are occasionally on, they're viewing it or on my profile or someone else who is working on it. It's not going to be a bad thing if they get banned for anyone.

@Sylphiel: I know if they haven't done anything against the rules they won't be banned. But it's complicated. It's making my time on these forum worse having someone who has been trolling anything I've done for ages almost a year, freely posting on my thread. They only post on my thread, so why can't they be banned?

I'll suggest ways to shake this mean spirited stalker off.

First of all, go into your UserCP 'Edit Options' and set yourself to invisible. This way they wont know when you might post. If that doesnt shake them off, put them on your Ignore list here. This hides their posts so you dont have to read them. (but you can open individual posts by clicking on it anyway).

Its easy to add them to your ignore list. Just visit their profile and check the lists dropdown menu (I think you can find it on the 'friends' tab if its no where else...correct me if I am wrong.)

Next, after ignoring them..goto 'Profile Privacy' and change every value to 'Registered Members' or 'Contacts'. This prevents them from seeing any of your profile info. If all of the above fails, start a new account and do not claim your old account publically. Be sure to add the troll to your new account's ignore list and repeat the above suggested settings for 'Profile Privacy' so they cant easily see who you are (just remember the no sockpuppet rule and do not abuse your new identity!!)

I wont parrot what the previous posters have said...they are right about the staff's stance about situations like this. I do hope that what I am suggesting helps you to elude this troll.

If they're spamming and trolling on your thread and annoying you in some way, I'm sure the admins and mods will take action. Maybe a warning/infraction/ban.
