Hi, me and my friend recently bought Ruby and Alpha together. We've hade some idéa to play together, sort of.

In the singellplayer portion of the game (wich is the game, just like a whole I guess) we would perhaps wait for each other as certain level-intervals and sort of battle each other, and even wait before each gym to battle.

But do you, the community, have any tips on making this singleplayer - simulated multiplayer-thingie work?

    Hmm, that sounds interesting.

In my opinion the most important thing is to make sure one doesn't get far ahead of the other. I don't know how much game time you guys have clocked each, but how about setting a "time cap"? For instance, before you battle each other for the first time, you can't exceed 5 hours of in-game time, so, in a sense, both of you have the same amount of opportunities to build a competitive team.

You could also agree on building themed teams, for instance: the one on Omega Ruby has to build a Sunny day team versus a Rain dance team on Alpha Sapphire. It would add more to the whole feeling of the storyline.

You could create sidequests for each other, that sort of stuff.

    Interesting, great tips.
We have a general Pokemon-history, but we havent played these games yet. so no clocked hours here yet.

Could you elaborate your "Team"-idéa and "Side-quest"-idéa, or will that become apparent once we start playing the games?

me and my best friend have been doing something like that since gen 1 wwere we battled each other every now and then during our journey like before 1st gym then after 3rd and so on

Hmm...if you're looking for ways that the two of you could play in tandem, I'd say what most everyone else suggested is a good idea--have Wi-Fi battles along the course of your journey. Keep in mind that when it comes to Wi-Fi battles, you have a couple of options. If you don't want to have to continually stop and wait for each other to be on an even playing field in terms of levels, you could do Flat Battles, which locks all your Pokemon's levels at 50 during course of the battle.

I think that what SwordLord was getting at was that you should have complementary teams. So for example, one of you uses Nuzleaf (exclusive to Omega Ruby) and one of you uses Lotad (exclusive to Alpha Sapphire)--something to that effect could be fun to do.

You could also compete with each other in contests, which are a pretty fun feature of the game :) Unfortunately they can't be done through Wi-Fi, so you'll have to do it through a local area connection.

Hope that helps! Enjoy the games!
