If a future Pokemon game/generation introduced this, how would you feel about it?

Basically, the idea is when breeding the male could pass their primary typing onto the baby as its secondary typing so long as the father is holding a special item. As example...

Wailord (M) is breeding with Diglett (F)
    Wailord is holding Alteration Crystal.
    Baby is a Ground/Water-type Diglett.

It's mostly an idea for fun, but I have had people tell me they'd actually like this as long as certain precautions and restrictions were accounted for. So how do you feel about the idea? Essentially sacrificing either Everstone or Destiny Knot breeding in favor of being able to half control your offspring's type?

Would you use this feature much?
What kinds of Pokemon would you come up with?
What kinds of Pokemon would you fear?

Producing a completely new Pokémon? Yes! Making an old Pokémon with customize typing through breeding? No please, people are going to abuse that mechanice! Not to mention the balances are going to fall apart.

An another slight off-topic that relates to your type changing mechanics is the Delta Pokémon! Now that's something I would like to see in the core games.

Cross Breeding...? hmm.......it will not work well as introduction of new Pokémon will occur but it really mess up and ruin everything for ex: If cross breeding is done between Mankey(M) where mankey is holding Karate Belt and Clefairy(F) so then Clefairy will become Fighting/Fairy Type do you think Clefairy can ever suited for learn fighting type move? just like Unapologetic Sunflower said, it will mess up balances in game(Fairy is super effective against fighting type so what about Fairy/Fighting type it will become normal reducing the efficiency of types) so this idea will ever and never work.
