What type matchups seem inexplicable to you? Here's my list:

Dark and Ghost: why would ghosts be weak to dark? They live in the dark.
Flying and Grass: I think the idea with flying and bug is that birds eat bugs. But they don't eat grass.
Steel and Ice: Ever see Titanic?
Grass and Electric: Lightning can actually have a pretty catastrophic effect on plant life
Fighting and Ice: Ice is extremely hard lmao
Fire and Steel: nice try Game Freak, but jet fuel can't melt steel beams
Psychic and Poison: this one is really bizarre to me
Dragon and Steel: they're just looking for excuses to make things weak against steel

Fighting and Dark is a bit of an odd one. I guess their thinking could be that Fighting-type Pokemon are brave by nature and so not afraid of the dark, which weakens its effectiveness, but that shouldn't make them more effective at combating it; it's not as though being good at physical violence empowers you with good eyesight or something.

Also, no, Game Freak. Burying toxic waste does not make it go away. Ground should not be an effective way to combat Poison.

I was unsure back then when Bug-Type is super effective against Poison-Type and vice versa. Like does Repel really works to keep bugs or are the bugs like to nab on those sort of aerosols for a living?

The bug super effective vs. poison made since to me since most bugs can consume most things that would be toxic to other animals but then again it doesn't make since for poison to then be strong against bug?

That's what I thinking, are they supposed to be immune or not at all confused me although having some logical sense for Pokémon aren't always possible to apply. :/

So... most poisonous substances can be made for the purpose of exterminating them, in the form of those anti-spray cans found nowadays.
However, some bugs (Prime Example: Roaches) might be immune and fond with dirty environment that are certainly unhealthy for any other animals to live inside, therefore some proof of Bug/Poison combination to become possible.
The one doesn't make sense would be Bug-Type being very effective against Poison-Type, if Poison-Type are super effective to them, then it would means not a lot can consume toxic waste found in most chemical factory of some sort without taking a toll in return aka. killing themselves.

Well, later on they changed it into Bug being not very effective into Poison while Poison dealing normal damage to Bug.
