What types do you think have the best and worst representation by trainers? I'm basing this myself primarily off of gym leaders, elite four, and champions, but you may base this upon any characters throughout the anime, games, etc.
I think the few notable trainers who represent poison represent it very well. Koga and Janine are both ninjas while Roxie is a rocker chick. While they're quite opposite they are interesting characters and the poison typing is suitable. I feel like Koga and Janine are an example of how poison creeps up on you. It's essentially a silent killer the same as a ninja. Roxie is a lot more brash and just in your face. In a way I can see this also pertaining to poison. It's an annoyance, overbearing, etc. (I hate that they are represented by bikers a lot in the games, but I get it.)
Fire is another type that I think is represented well. Once again the trainers are interesting and for the most part have exciting personalities. They're quirky yet serious in what they do. I see these traits mostly in Blaine and Flint. Malva seems fiery in a "you don't want to mess" way while Flannery reminds me of fire in an impulsive way. Not mentioning Chili because idk what hes like
Lastly I think fighting and bug can be poorly represented sometimes. Fighting just has a lot of the same kinds of trainers. Aka trainers who are blackbelts and notable trainers that own a dojo. It makes complete sense it's just a tired thing to see over and over. I find the trainers behind this type to be boring most of the time. Bug seems to be represented by a lot of "weirdos" or at least some of them look freaky. I feel like they're almost saying to like bugs you have to be weird or freaky which makes a lot of sense to me, but ehhh. I think Viola breaks that shell, but herself isn't that exceptionally interesting.
