As I've grown older, I've played a lot of different games. My favorites are undoubtedly the epic games that Bethesda makes: Skyrim, Fallout 3, Oblivion, etc. What I love about them is the ease with which they facilitate roleplaying. They also never end.

Pokemon doesn't end either. After the credits roll, you can still keep catching, training, and usually go to new post-game areas. Those areas are a lot of fun, as is just battling friends and all that, however, it has always bothered me that the post game feels tacked on.

I think the ultimate post game would take into account that you have just defeated the Elite Four and are now the defacto champion. This means defending your title! We already have weekly events, why not have weekly challenges like this? In the case of OR/AS, each week you will have Steven, Wally, and May/Brendan challenge you for the 'ship, as well as some random powerful trainers. Losing to one means you have to rechallenge the elite four all over again.

It would be awesome to see the world progress with you as well, similar to the leveled challenges that games like Skyrim have. So as you continue to increase in your play time, ALL trainers become more powerful. In the end, you'd be playing in a game world where the vast majority of trainers have Pokemon pushing level 100 (assuming a large playtime).

The ultimate post game would have a world that reacts to you becoming champion. So that NPCs exhibit some level of dynamicness, or at least have new dialogue to interact with the new champion. I'm thinking of a new Poke-device, or maybe just reuse the holo-caster, and have it be interactive. So as you journey around collecting em all or whatever, you get calls from people asking for help. So in other words, we have a game world that has random events that will scale with you to make the world seem alive. These would be punctuated by special events for the post game, that might involve a major new quest or something. Interacting with gym leaders in a different context or w/e.

Pokemon is a game that doesn't end and the new online features are really robust and I enjoy them. They really add to the life of the games. However, a lot of the best games made have value that extends well past the "end". Pokemon is one of those games that could have that kind of lasting value, if they only put the effort into it. I think the hardware is more than capable too.

Shut up and take my money!
That all sounds like it would be freaking awesome, but I doubt that would happen. The creative department is already running on fumes in my opinon when it comes to new monsters. How else would you explain 2 that are literaly garbage and an animated set of keys. It would be great if a new series of the games had those features, but it's just not going to happen.

I've always loved the idea of this, and I want it really badly. Although I can see why Game Freak haven't done it yet. I don't think they could fit that in the space of a year's worth of production; I'm assuming they want to keep up the annual releases. But I wouldn't mind if they took a couple of years to make a game with endless possibilities, even offline. I'd also pay around double the current price for it.

That doesn't seem like something gamefreak would do, usually the NPCs in pokemon games are pretty static. However, I'd absolutely love that idea, we could at least make it a hackrom!

NPCs changing their dialogue after you become champion would make sense; if it were real world, many of us would know about it, and would train champions as if they were celebrates (talk with them, get autographs, take pictures, and so forth). It'll be fun and refreshing.

Speaking of becoming champion and whatnot, I've always believed that it would be rather unique if we were to defend our title every once in a while, so that we would actually be feeling like champion once we turn into one. Rather than facing the same person continuously while go through Pokémon League, I feel this would be a nice change of pace.

Whenever we get defeated, perhaps we could lose our rank to someone else, and we would be challenge them any time to gain it back.

I always liked the idea of becoming a Champion, or maybe better yet (?) a Gym Leader. NPCs challenge your Gym, and you set up what the Gym looks like and your team. Think what Super Secret Bases offer, but a step up (like no 3-pokemon limit =/).

It also would be nice if other NPCs did acknowledge your achievements some more and you had to defend the title.
