Umm. Should I get Netzero?

    Well. I have had msn and aol. I want a different type of Dial up ISP. Is netzero good. Its suppost to be fast! Is it? Or is earth link beter? I domn't want broad band or dsl or cable ( can't afford it ) Just talk about Dail up services!

    I use their free service for when I'm somewhere that doesn't have broadband internet access. It is ok.
     
    NO!!!! Not NetZero! It's HORRIBLE! My sister hates it. It's really slow, but if you still want it, g'head, but I reccomend like Earthlink or something.
     
    amd never trust AOL

    AOL is not even a ISP...

    Dial up is really slow period. PFU loads fast on it through. ^_^
     
    Well. I decided to get Earthlink. because it had a thing that makes it 5x fater. On dial up! I think it's a compresser.. but only the web pages go 5x fast. not the file transfer and downloads.. sadly..
     
    I believe Netzero has that too. It is called Netzero Hi Speed. Anyway, here is how it works:

    Their server gets the page, compresses it with propetory compression, then sends it to you.

    It doesn't work for downloads because of two reasons. 1. Downloads are already compressed pretty well. 2. The overhead is too high.

    Some webservers use gzip to compres their pages. You shouldn't get a benefit from propertory compression because after that, there is not much left to compress.

    Or in other words, get broadband. There is nothing in the world that would make your 56k modem a 280k modem.
     
    Well. I think this earth link is asome. Its almost as fast as my friends cable on some pages.. But on poke commmunity the home page load in about 2 seconds. seriuosly..it's asome...I can't wit until I can delte aol from my computer tommarow!
     
    AOL is cool, it's fast for me.I would use Mozilla,but it's too hard to configure

    ?and they proved they can do whatever they like to your PC, by shutting off messenger on install. It?s not a bad thing, but kind of creepy. I?m glad AOL never graced my machine. Maybe that explains why my old one is so messed up. It?s been formatted three times though. Stupid Gateway machine? ._.

    I use Trillian as my AIM client, I don?t use AOL software period. =\
     
    I reinstalled Trillian since I got my 384 MB, and guess what I found...

    Trillian took over 30MB of memory or more. It was taking my precious memory.... So, I had to uninstall it..

    DON'T USE TRILLIAN!!! IT'S EVIL!!!!
     
    I?m using Trillian 2.0 pro and using 1.6 MB of memory. You must have a memory leak on your system, because it shouldn?t take that much?

    So, how is their spam and pop-blockers H.A.W.K.? They advertise them a lot, for sure.
