I never listened to Dio's stuff. There, I said it. It's not that I didn't like it, but I just... never got around to it. I'd heard "Holy Diver" of course, but only twice before. I didn't think it was anything particularly special, but that's because I was on a death/thrash metal spree at the time.

When I heard of his death, I was surprised at how hard it hit me. I decided that, in his memory, I would give "Holy Diver" another listen. This time (I've gotten into a lot of melodic stuff since my "0MG GOTTA BE BR00TAL" days), I loved it. I downloaded the album Holy Diver and listened to it for the first time today. I'm listening to The Last in Line now. These are both amazing. I can't believe all the wasted years... R.I.P. Dio. I'm sorry it took me all this time and your death to actually listen to you. I'm really sorry. Rock on in the afterlife, man. \m/

That was a bunch of us when Jacko died last year. All of a sudden, I have 10 songs on my iPod from the man instead of just "Thriller".

I myself only gave "Holy Diver", "Rainbow in the Dark", and "The Last in Line" a listen, but now I'm also listening to him when he was in Black Sabbath. As Alaphlosiam said, rock on in the afterlife. \m/

Strangely, his death hasn't really hit me yet. It's just too unreal. *throws up the horns* >_<

    RIP Dio.

Edit: Just finished reading a letter for Dio by Lars Ulrich. Okay, so now it has hit me, hard. I want to cry now. Here's the letter if you all want to read.

    Spoiler:

I was in shock. A lot of my friends were devastated, and that's how I found out. I was a huge fan of Holy Diver, lol. I remember when I was still pretty young the first time I ever heard him or his music... It was back in 1999, I was watching South Park 'Hooked on Monkey Fonics'. Loved him ever since.

Holy hell. I can't believe Lars even knew compassion, haha. But this seriously made my heart sink into a temporary depression. :(

Again, rock on in heaven, Dio! \m/

Dio died?!?! I should watch more news! :cer_disbelief:

That is a dreadful shock. He was a great musician and a great lover of music. He invented the "metal horns" after all. He will be surely missed. :cer_frown:
