6th Gen Updated Pokédex?

Yeah, I think they'll try and retain the original Hoenn Dex but with the 4th Gen pre-evos and evos added in, hopefully this will make Phoebe have some variety by having a Dusknoir as her ace Pokemon instead of a Sableye (I think it was a Sableye) in the originals. And maybe give Glacia a Froslass as well.

I really don't like it when Gym Leaders or Elite Four use multiple members of the same Pokemon, or in the case of Diamond and Pearl, using Pokemon that isn't even of their own specialized type, but in that game's case it was due to a lack of certain types in the Sinnoh Dex.

In the earlier games I could see why they would use multiple Pokemon of the same line but with 700+, there's really no reason for it anymore. R.I.P. gym leaders with 2 Onix.

I think it's always been Dusclops. Maybe they'll give both Glacia and Phoebe Froslass.

Ontopic: I hope they add the pre-evolutions too.

Was Eevee in Hoenn? If it's here, Glaceon is also on the table. Hopefully there won't be any type shortages. In general stuff like the Fire elite 4 member of Sinnoh and the examples listed here are just really stupid. If there are too few of a type to support a gym leader/elite 4 member then just don't make a gym 4/elite 4 member of that type. It's not that difficult!

Nope, Eevee only appears in Gen 1 and the even numbered generations dexes (note FrLg aren't being counted here).

I think they will definitely add some new Pokemon. I just don't think it'll be on the scale that Kalos was. I think that a lot of the Pokemon that weren't included in Kalos will be stuck in ORAS somewhere, so that people will have the ability to catch all the Pokemon without transferring any from a previous generation.

I like this idea the best...in fact, I just wasted spent about an hour of time making a mockup "New Hoenn" regional dex. I started with the classic Hoenn dex (plus evolutions/prevolutions introduced in the interim), added all the pokémon available in Emerald's postgame (new areas of Safari Zone, Altering Cave, Johto starters, etc), and then looked at this page and incorporated all of the non-legendaries and non-starters in the part of Hoenn I can best visualize them. I also added Eevee and Shellos because reasons.

Spoiler:

It's just under 300 pokémon, but still quite a bit bigger than RSE's regional dex. I wouldn't count on it being this huge though to be perfectly honest. XD

Going through the Hoenn Pokedex and gunna see what has to evolve right off. Only expansion in HG/SS were Pokemon that were forced to evolve with no options, Yanma, Piloswine, and Aipom. All of these evolved as soon as they learned a specific move and once that move was learned they were forced to evolve.

Pokemon with optional evolutions, those that use items or specific trick, didn't evolve until post game. The items needed we're even available until post game.

So based on this:
Nosepass - There is no magnetic area in Hoenn. Possibly cannot evolve in the remakes unless they add in a new area like they did with Johto for the Safari Zone. Otherwise you can't evolve Nosepass without trading to XY.

Kirlia - Kirlia won't have the option for Gallade until Post game. Dawn, Shiny, and Dusk stones will probably not be available until Post game just as they were in HG/SS since Remakes stay true to the original games and only add in the new items and evolutions/mechanics in the Post game.

Magneton - Magnezone may not be available for the same reason as Probopass. Probably have to trade or wait for Post game. Trading most likely since its the main gimmick for the Pokemon game and a running trend on remakes. Pokemon weren't available in those games, you have to trade to evolve them.

Roselia - Budew won't be available until post game since the Rose Incense wasn't in the original game and Roserade won't be available since the Shiny stone may not appear until Post game.

Dusclops - Reaper Cloth is optional evolution. May not appear until post game.

Snorunt - Froslass may not be available until Post game.

Eevee wasn't in the original R/S so they may not appear in this game again.

So far all of the Pokemon that evolve further are all optional evolutions. Mega Stones may play a Post game role since they are a gimmick mostly for XY. The Pokedex actually has a very high chance of staying the same for the main story since its just a remake and expanding only after we get the National Dex.

When it comes to evolutions, I could see something like this:

Magnezone and Probopass - Evolve at New Mauville
Dusknoir - Reaper Cloth could be put in Mt. Pyre
Rhyperior - Protector could be put somewhere in Victory Road
Roserade, Gallade, Froslass - Their respective stones could be sold at the Department Store, or by some kind of travelling merchant

When they brought out X and Y they did put some pokemon from Black and White, so they might put some pokemon from XY into these games

You've got a point there. All the same, if they followed suit with the gigantic Pokédex in Kalos and made three sections (I could imagine even five considering Hoenn's variety of habitats) then people would really enjoy taking up different Pokémon to beat the Elite Four. But I don't think they'll be adding many Ice types, because there's only one cave where we can get them.

They might but i reckon they might keep the old Hoenn pokedex and then post game add all the other pokemon in to it

If they add all Pokémon in the postgame, then it's just a National Dex, isn't it? National Dex are impossible to fill up without other game support, and some Pokémon like Rhydon in the old Dex can evolve after Gen IV. So there's a good chance they'll change that.

True but they require items to evolve aswell, so they might do something to that like special events like they are doing now with Electrabuzz and Magmar

They wouldn't probably miss out on the items, seeing as we want the remakes to feel as 'new' as possible. Besides, it would also promote trading further, and tbh, Rhyperior would be a great addition to a generic Hoenn team.

Rhyperior was brilliant in Sinnoh but I dont think trading would increase alot considering they are re-makes

This is an option, but seeing as they're remakes, I don't see them going down this road. The most recent remake, HGSS, had a small feature that allowed the players to catch pokemon from other generations. ORAS may have something similar, but I don't expect an alteration in the Hoenn regional dex.

I definitely want to see the PokéDex expanded in this game. I don't think there will be 3 separates Dexes like in Kalos, but probably only two: "Land" and "Sea." It fits with the theme of the region and legendaries, and the land of Hoenn is so diverse it's difficult to split up. It's hard to say how likely it is to happen, but after having such extensive amounts of Pokémon in XY it would be a shame if we had access to only gen 1-3 Pokémon within ORAS.

A part of me feels that they might include Eevee this time around despite not being in the original Hoenn pokédex due to the popularity of Sylveon in XY and trainers possibly wanting a second chance to use one.

I still think they're going to leave it as it is minus the addition of the gen IV pre and evolutions to Hoenn dex Pokémon. Meaning We'll get Budew, Roserade, Rhyperior, Gallade, Froslass, Chingling, and any others I may have missed. Only additions that will make sense are Shellos as it was meant to be a Hoenn Pokémon. Also I disliked how they split the dex in Kalos. They should've kept it one whole dex and simply had added a biome/environment mode like FrLg had.

Yeah, maybe have RSE Hoenn Dex Pokemon (and the cross-generational families) be found in the main game and Postgame could unlock the other Pokemon, like they did in BW?

I don't know I kinda like the split imo. What if GF decides to split the Hoenn Dex into 4? The Southwestern, Northwestern, Eastern, and Postgame?
