Hey everyone, sorry if this is the wrong forum. Really no idea which it's supposed to go to.

    I'm considering upgrading my 3ds.
I have the original one and was thinking of going to the New Nintendo 3DS XL.
Should I do it? I understand it's supposed to be a better console with better battery life and some new features along with the screen size upgrade for the XL console
My main concern is how difficult will it be to do a system transfer as I use pokebank and don't want to buy it again for a new console or lose any pokes that were saved in it.

    What are your thoughts?

Also I'm thinking of picking up super smash and apparently the new C-stick is a good feature for that

You're one of the lucky few that actually has the New 3DS available to them. Go for it.

There are plenty of online step-by-step tutorials about transferring content between Nintendo 3DS systems, so you should be fine with that. I'm going to assume it'll work the same with the New 3DS, since it's essentially the same console, just with an upgraded processor...

I'd recommend waiting until there are some New 3DS exclusive games released - hopefully/probably by that point the console will have dropped in price - but if you're inclined to upgrade now, go for it. The new c-stick may or may not make playing certain games easier (it looks too much like the PSP's dismal analogue nub to fill me with anything other than trepidation until I actually get my hands on it) and longer battery life is always good. Plus there is Xenoblade to look forward to next year...that alone is reason enough to upgrade.

If you want an XL, it does make sense to go for the New 3DS XL rather than the standard XL model since you can. The bigger screens do make everything a lot clearer, although they can take some getting used to. It's not an ideal handheld for taking out of the house either - it's big, clunky, and doesn't really fit comfortably in pockets. Other than that, it's much better than the standard-sized 3DS, in my opinion.

It's not avaliable worldwide? I'm in Australia, I just assumed we got it last like everything else

I know waiting would be better, but I'm going on an overseas trip in a week and my current one I don't think would even last a connecting flight. Dunno if it's cause it's old or the battery is shot. But only lasts maybe 2 hours. And I heard these something like 7 or 8. I have a friend with the old XL and you're right that the size is a little impractical for carrying around. But luckily I wear a lot of cargo shorts with nice big pockets so it fits :P

Since the Pokemon Bank is connected to your Nintendo ID, your Pokemon should still be available after the transfer.

Cool. I've read system transfer is the only way to move it from console to console.
But I'll post about it once I've tried

As you live in Australia, the new 3DS is already available. I own one I imported from Australia that works perfectly as the UK is also a PAL country. Transferring content is quite easy, as long as you're already using a microSD card via a adapter. Do remember that you'll need to use the same AC adapter as the old 3DS as the XL doesn't come with one bundled.

The console's great too. It's actually comfortable unlike the brick-shaped 3DS and the screens are much bigger although are quite pixelated and jagged. The 3D is also much easier on the eyes and the C stick is quite well implemented. The only real issues is the lack of games that support it.

I definitely would but you should definitely do some research again to justify your decision. Seems like a good deal though :)
