Well, this is the thread for me! xD I have a LOT of animals, mainly exotics. One reason is that I rescue wildlife indigenous to my area, and some are too badly wounded or compromised to return to the wild. So, they stay with me. My permanent wldlife residents are:
*Ornate Box Turtle adult female, has a badly split shell that will never be strong enough to protect her from predators
*Ornate Box Turtle baby male who was born(was found in the grass newly-hatched) with partially paralyzed back legs
*Garter Snake adult male who was run over right in front of me and was essentially dead for 20-30 minutes. After a spontaneous revival and months of fasting and healing damaged internals he is doing great as well.
*2 Common Toads rescued off the local roads
*Alligator Snapping Turtle 3-inch juvenile with the same story o_o
I also have taken in several reptiles and fish from people that don't want them anymore or because the animal is sick.
*3 Leopard Geckos
*1 Blue-Tongued Skink(Northern GIANT!)
*1 Ukraine Giant Legless Lizard
*1 Trans-Pecos Ratsnake
*1 Bullsnake
*1 Yellow/Everglades Ratsnake
*1 California Kingsnake
*1 Taiwan Beauty Snake
*2 Goliath Frogs(largest frog in the world)
*1 Smokey Jungle Frog(2nd largest frog in the world, largest in S.America)
*1 Chubby Painted Frog
* several species of Tarantula and scorpion
*1 Florida Huntsman Spider
I also have:
*1 Quaker Parrot, Rima(I think she's my animal soul-mate hehee)
*1 Umbrella Cockatoo, Angelo(big, loud, lovable boy!)
*2 Budgies Kiwi and Jingle
*2 Zebra Finches(brown color) Biscuit and Cookie
*1 Japanese Chin dog, Kichi. Tiny, sweet companion.
*1 Axolotl(kind of like a salamander with gills that is huge and spends it's entire life underwater in a larval phase), Poseidon
*1 Chinchilla, Chinnie(he IS a real life Pikachu!)
*a couple of Guinea Pigs shared between me and my Mom
* several fishtanks with many different and exotic species in them from super-fancy goldfish to 2+ feet long koi fish, a catfish species tank to Chinese High-Finned fish and freshwater eels...I could go on all day. *-*
My goal is to become an animal and conservation educator, and to introduce people to "creepy" and misunderstood animals in such a way that they can see them in a different light and even begin to appreciate them for what they are. I use many of my animals during educational talks and presentations that I give to schools, wildlife centers, etc. I am very passionate about it, and I'm going to continue going to college and increasing my career opportunities to do something great for as long as I am able to. :)
