How will the wide use of robots and personal AI assistants affect our life? I'm quite scared thinking about the future since it is estimated that the obesity level will rise and one more thing - The rule of robots on us though it only has been imagined
Please share your thoughts on the topic.

i kinda dont like that idead TBH i fear like something like Skynet (terminator) or V.I.K.I (Irobot) going berzerk

I would welcome automation with open arms - have any of you seen The Expanse? Their version go the future is that people on Earth can't work because there's nothing to do. Only thing is in our current system we victimise and harass those who aren't working so much that unemployment has a solid positive correlation with early death (despite the word positive that is very much not a good thing).

As for the obesity thing - have you seen how built teenage guys are now? I came back to school aged 16 after the GCSE long summer holiday and felt bad because most of the football (soccer if you're an American and don't speak English) team had Brad Pitt's Fight Club body - by the time I got to university literally everyone I knew was trying to get on a level with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine body.

well, I'm all for automation and use of robotics, but not developing advanced AI.

I'm of a similar mindset. Robots are just the machines, the bodies. We use them everywhere like in factories and with Roombas. Robots are great. I wish there were more. They make our lives better.

I'm not entirely convinced AI is inherently dangerous, but I think people aren't being as cautious in their development of it as they should be. Like right now there aren't many safeguards or rules on what can or should be done with AI and that means we have to put faith in the developers that they know what they're doing and won't making mistakes or make something dangerous.

That said, this is the only way robots should be used:

    lol

Anyways, I am not afraid. Humans can easily take charge of their weight (assuming every brand doesn't start adding even MORE fat into their products), and I really don't think robots will take over by themselves. Someone could hack them and cause them to take over, but they couldn't do it themselves.

This article came up on my tech news feed and I think it's worth a read. Thoughts?

Decent article. As I said in my original post - we need to stop treating the jobless like shit because robots are hopefully going to lead to widespread unemployment by eliminating many menial jobs. Right now, unemployment is linked with depression and premature death - we need to fix that at the same time as making robots awesome.

It's a good part of the argument for universal basic income since technology is going to make lots of jobs obsolete in the near or distant future. When there isn't enough work that needs to be done then you'll have all these people who can't find jobs despite all the needs of society being fulfilled. You can't try to hold back technological progress so you have to solve the other end, the people end.
