Question: Usernames

a lot of people have asked this question and the answer is no, because it causes too much server stress.

No. Because every time someone had a name change it caused server stress. Because it needs to rewrite everything with your name on it. So the admins stopped offering changes. Sorry, but you can make another account.

EDIT: ninja'd. still my post could be useful.

If you do decide to make a new account, it's asked that you not make a welcome thread for it and don't act like you're someone new. That'd be considering sock puppeting. But you're more than welcome to make a new account with the username you would prefer. Hopefully it's not taken! :)

I think the portion about "Name Changes" in this subforum's announcements really need a size increase, because lately it seems like this question is asked repeatedly (no offense to the OP; it's just that in my experience, I've noticed that this type of thread is popping up with excessive frequency. It's like every 2-3 days, New Users/Fresh Meat ask this exact same question.) :\ Sadly, boldfacing doesn't seem to be helping to minimize threads with these kinds of questions. :(

I agree. I would think that the notice at the top of the forum would be enough, but we get someone asking about username changes nearly every single day. I mean, it's not that big of a deal and they may not have seen it, but it really isn't hard to find out if we do name changes or not given the amount of threads that are made about it and the notice. A simple search would be enough, I would think. Oh well...

As the question's been asked and the answer has been given multiple times, the purpose of this thread has been filled.
