Well, Smogon's starting their BL/UU/NFE merger in less than a month. I intend to get into UU play when it gets merged. So I came here since the nice people at this site helped me build the framework of my OU team before... Please note that this team will be absolutely horrible for the first little while... I know NOTHING about UU, so please bear with me...

Here's a quick summary of my strategy:

    Strategy said:
I start by sending out Absol. Absol's job is to ruin their lead's plans. Once I have sufficiently messed them up, Steelix can come in and set up Stealth Rock. Steelix's job is to spam Roar whenever possible to spread around some damage to as many Pokemon as possible, KO things with his STAB when the chance presents itself, and to reveal their entire team to me. The spotlight than shines on Lapras. It will come in, and Toxic whatever comes in. If it's a Fighting-type, Xatu comes in. If it's Electric, Steelix will come out and handle it. Blaziken will come in at the end to score the final KOs on the weakened team.

    ABSOL
    @ Focus Sash
    Trait: Pressure
    Nature: Adamant
    EVs: 6 HP, 252 Att, 252 Spe
    -Taunt
    -Counter
    -Sucker Punch
    -Pursuit

It's an anti-lead set. I'm pretty sure you can tell what I mean by simply looking at its moveset... Taunt stops support leads in their tracks. Counter with a Focus Sash and a Hasty Nature will easily hold up anybody who tries to be smart with a Fighting attack. Sucker Punch will stop anyone who tries to attack me, it's the strongest UU priority move! Pursuit stops them from running. This moveset requires quite a bit of prediction.

    HARIYAMA
    @ Leftovers
    Trait: Thick Fat
    Nature: Adamant
    EVs: 6 HP, 252 Att, 252 SpD
    -Substitute
    -Focus Punch
    -Ice Punch
    -ThunderPunch

This is my Hariyama, it can come in, sub up, and KO. That's the jist of it...

    *image removed*

    STEELIX
    @ Leftovers
    Trait: Rock Head
    Nature: Sassy
    EVs: 252 HP, 120 Att, 136 SpD
    -Stealth Rock
    -Gyro Ball
    -EarthQuake
    -Roar

A perfect physical wall for this team. Its naturally high defense makes it tough to take down. Gyro Ball & EarthQuake are incredible STAB moves with high base power. Roar is here so I can abuse Stealth Rock.

    *smogon.com link removed*

    XATU
    @ Choice Specs
    Trait: Synchronize
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 6 HP, 252 Att, 252 Spe
    -Psychic
    -Shadow Ball
    -Heat Wave
    -Grass Knot

Xatu is here as a special sweeper and a Fighting-type resister. With this combination of attacks, everything gets hit for at least neutral damage. The moveset is pretty self-explanatory, it uses nearly all of Xatu's viable attacks.

    *image removed*

    BLAZIKEN
    @ Life Orb
    Trait: Blaze
    Nature: Naive
    EVs: 78 Att, 216 SpA, 216 Spe
    -Overheat
    -Sky Uppercut
    -Thunderpunch
    -Hidden Power [Ice]

Similar to Infernape, This is meant to hit as many things as possible for maximum damage. This outspeeds many UU threats. Overheat will KO stuff in one hit as its main STAB. Sky Uppercut is the secondary STAB, it hits most resisters of the main STAB. Thunderpunch and HP Ice for coverage.

    *image removed*

    MILOTIC
    @ Lefotvers
    Trait: Marvel Scale
    Nature: Bold
    EVs: 124 HP, 252 Def, 134 SpA
    -Hypnosis
    -Recover
    -Surf
    -Hidden Power [Electric]

Milotic is meant to be a Vaporeon replacement. It can put thing to sleep, then spam its attacks. With all of this, plus its great base stats, it can take hits very easily.

    -----------------

Due to the nature of this test, I have to keep a list of back-up Pokemon in case one gets removed. The list of back-ups will be kept here:

    FERALIGATR
    Back-Up Pokemon List said:
    @ Leftovers/Life Orb
    Trait: Torrent
    Nature: Adamant/Jolly
EVs: To be decided based on moves...
    -Dragon Dance/Swords Dance
    -Waterfall
    -Ice Punch
    -EarthQuake

This i usually compared with Gyarados, but there's really no point of doing that here since Gyarados won't be legal. Power-Up and KO everything in sight. That's the gist of this. Waterfall for STAB, Ice Punch for the obvious UU coverage, and Earthquake to destroy everything in sight. Waterfall essentially becomes a 180 base power move when Feraligatr reaches 33% health or lower.

    *image removed*

    GASTRODON
    @ Leftovers
    Trait: Sticky Hold
    Nature: Careful
    EVs: 252 HP, 216 Def, 42 SpD
    -EarthQuake
    -Stockpile
    -Toxic
    -Recover

Gastrodon is meant to bring an element of stall into this. I just have to Toxic them, Stockpile up, and spam EarthQuake. Skarmory is the only Pokemon who is completely immune, but there's a high chance that Skarmory won't make it into the test. PHazers LOL at me... Recover is there for obvious reasons.

    *image removed*

    SHARPEDO
    @ Focus Sash
    Trait: Rough Skin
    Nature: Jolly
    EVs: 6 HP, 252 Att, 252 Spe
    -Aqua Jet
    -Waterfall
    -EarthQuake-Ice Fang

This is an idea I got from watching battles on YouTube. With this, Sharpedo is guranteed to leave a dent before fainting in the face of the opposition. It is important to get this in before Stealth Rock goes up, so it will be difficult to use.

    *image removed*

    CHANSEY
    @ Leftovers
    Trait: Natural Cure
    Nature: Bold
    EVs: 6 HP, 252 Def, 252 SpD
    -Aromatherapy
    -Seismic Toss
    -Softboiled
    -Toxic

This is Chansey, it walls stuff. This variant is meant to focus primarily on support. This gets walled by Steel-types and Poison-types, but they'll run in the face of Blaziken and Gastrodon anyways. This basically heals itself, and cures status while inflicting it.

    *image removed*

    MAGMORTAR
    @ Choice Scarf
    Trait: Flame Body
    Nature: Modest
    EVs: 252 SpA, 6 SpD, 252 Spe
    -Focus Blast
    -Thunderbolt
    -Flamethrower
    -Hidden Power [Ice]

Magmortar outspeeds everything in UU when holding a Choice Scarf (barring Electrode). With its insane coverage, there's nothing that walls it. Magmortar can come in and KO some big threats, is there anything else left to say?

    *image removed*

    GRUMPIG
    @ Leftovers
    Trait: Thick Fat
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 252 HP, 20 SpD, 236 Spe
    -Calm Mind
    -Substitute
    -Psychic
    -Signal Beam/Hidden Power [Fighting]

This is CM Grumpig. Have you seen Latias in Smogon's Suspect Ladder? This is basically what most of them do. If you haven't seen them, Grumpig will immediately go for the Substitute. It will them use Calm Mind a few times, then it will proceed to KO the opposing Pokemon. Steels are the only available walls for Signal Beam, while Psychics are the only available Hidden Power walls...

    *image removed*

    LAPRAS
    @ Lefotvers
    Trait: Water Absorb
    Nature: Modest
    EVs: 192 Def, 160 SpA, 156 SpD
    -Ice Beam
    -Thunderbolt
    -Surf
    -Toxic

Lapras is here to unleash a barrage of special attacks, while taking hits like a UU Vaporeon. It hits stuff with BoltBeam and STAB. The EVs are meant to increase power, while making Lapras more defensive. Lanturn and Fighting-types will be my only problem with this set, as they can easily take me down with strong attacks.

why is absol hasty? sure, it's already fragile, but it's not like you're running any special attacks. if there is the slightest chance that absol can survive 2 hits from opposing priority moves, then there is absolutely no reason why you should spoil that possibility. and why is absol beneficial nature + max speed anyway if the purpose is to counter common leads? even with jolly and max speed, it gets outsped by a large number of leads. it doesn't manage to taunt common lead sleepers, has base speed that outspeeds/matches most spikes/SR setters and is far outsped by weather setters. on top of that, it counters physical sweepers and suckerpunches for the priority hit, thus making the speed investment kinda pointless. so yeah, YOU GOT SOME THINKIN TO DO.

this team is really fighting weak and needs something that can at least cover burn/poison status. you have enough bulk on your team to drop gastrodon for a resist who can hit pretty well. weezing is BL now. venasuar is a beast. xatu is a x4 fighting resist w/ good speed and now has the ability to do sweep damage with Choice Specs now that it has access to Heat Wave.

no no, i don't fail to see the point in the set at all. what i'm saying is that you are putting your own set in jeopardy when it can easily be put in the situation where it is 2hko'd if you predict wrongly. the idea is YOU want to do the most damage with Sucker Punch. physical attackers will do serious damage to absol anyway and counter will do a lot of damage at that. skimping out on Adamant nature just to add more fragility to Absol is an unnecessary modification. absol still does what it does but hits harder.

i'd consider grass knot on xatu to handle bulky waters especially gastrodon. HP ground is nice for electrics + fires + aggron/bastiodon, but STAB psychic does just about the same damage as SE HP ground to electrics/fires and you already have 3 other pokes who can handle them.

i'm not comfortable w/ the grumpig set. although a supportive set w/ reflect wouldn't be a bad idea, grumpig doesn't give your team any new resistances or role. your team is already pretty specially-centralized. the fact that it can wall latias means nothing especially when latias is barely being tested for OU. instead, i'd suggest running something like a subpunch Hariyama. once absol is out of the picture, you'll need hariyama mid-game to come in on stalling threats like Clefable to force the switch, set up a sub and wreak havoc on at least 2 victims. adamant, 252 ATK/252 SP DEF/4 HP @ leftovers, sub/fp/ip/tp will cover everything and do crazy damage. although guts could be useful, covering steelix and xatu's weaknesses is the priority w/ thick fat. besides, w/ sub and prediction, status will hardly be an issue.

Instead of Lapras, try Walrein (also UU). Put in EQ instead of Surf. This is because Ice Beam and EQ cover everything that Surf does typewise, and EQ is better against Special Walls.

Of course, then there's trouble w/ Natures because you want a defensive set, so Naughty/Rash are out, but try a speed-lowering nature.

    CHANSEY @ Leftovers
    Trait: Natural Cure

    -Aromatherapy
    -Wish
    -Softboiled
    -Toxic/Seismic Toss

On your back up list, just a note on this set. Aromatherapy + Wish are illegal when used together on the same set. (Egg move vs event move)

I see what you mean with Absol, it will be fixed shortly.

Grass Knot on Xatu? Meh, it makes sense, I guess...

Also, Grumpig was placed in as an extra Fighting-type resistance. I'm still very weak against it. I guess I'll put in Hariyama, but I still need to cut down on unnecessary Fighting weaknesses... Plus, Grumpig does the same thing Latias does, it doesn't go around walling it...

Instead of Lapras, try Walrein (also UU). Put in EQ instead of Surf. This is because Ice Beam and EQ cover everything that Surf does typewise, and EQ is better against Special Walls.

Well, Walrein's stats are similar to Lapras'. However, Walrein has lower base HP, along with a lower base Attack. Bringing it in for Earthquake would be quite redundant. If I was going for a mixed set with solid coverage, I would have opted for Return.

On your back up list, just a note on this set. Aromatherapy + Wish are illegal when used together on the same set. (Egg move vs event move)

OK then. I've removed Wish. Thanks for your help.
