I've been reading up and practicing VGC for quite a while now so I feel like I have a pretty good grasp of the tier. I've experimented with trick room teams in the past and standard Kang teams but I wanted to try out mega Mence for the first time. I've had success with this but wanted to maybe get a little advice as well.

    The squad:

    [PokeCommunity.com] VGC 15 Salamence-Mega Team

    Salamence @ Salamencite
    Ability: Intimidate
    Level: 50
    EVs: 20 Atk / 244 SpA / 244 Spe
    Hasty Nature
    - Hyper Voice
    - Double-Edge
    - Draco Meteor
    - Protect

Mixed Mence is the superior option right now with Hyper Voice effectively hitting most of the metagame for good damage. I opted for dual Flying stab and Draco Meteor. Not running EQ as my team can deal with the common Tran rather well.

    [PokeCommunity.com] VGC 15 Salamence-Mega Team

    Amoonguss @ Rocky Helmet
    Ability: Regenerator
    Level: 50
    EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 SpD
    Bold Nature
    - Spore
    - Rage Powder
    - Protect
    - Giga Drain

Standard defensive Amoonguss. It's the best Rocky Helmet user in the game right now and pairs really well with Salamence with Ragepowder being able to redirect Spore and Twave. Giga Drain threatens the common Milotic and Rotom-W.

    [PokeCommunity.com] VGC 15 Salamence-Mega Team

    Milotic @ Sitrus Berry
    Ability: Competitive
    Level: 50
    EVs: 236 HP / 132 SpA / 140 SpD
    Modest Nature
    - Scald
    - Recover
    - Icy Wind
    - Protect

With Lando-T, Salamence, and Scrafty all being huge threats this season, Competitive and Defiant users are essential on any team. Milotic is very tanky so it can absorb hits fairly easily while having dual recovery to fall back on. Scald and Icy Wind are both great moves to use due to status burn and the speed drop. Rotom-Wash threatens this pretty hard though.

    [PokeCommunity.com] VGC 15 Salamence-Mega Team

    Bisharp @ Focus Sash
    Ability: Defiant
    Level: 50
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
    Adamant Nature
    - Iron Head
    - Sucker Punch
    - Protect
    - Knock Off

Sash Bisharp is very standard and straightforward. Guaranteed at least a Knock Off unless doubled into. Great with Ragepowder support which this team has. Punishes the Lando and Mence switchins with Defiant and Sucker Punch is great for picking off targets.

    [PokeCommunity.com] VGC 15 Salamence-Mega Team

    Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
    Ability: Sand Stream
    Level: 50
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
    Naive Nature
    - Rock Slide
    - Crunch
    - Ice Beam
    - Superpower

Scarftar is really good in this format. Rock Slide is the best move in the game and Ttar is one of the best abusers of it. Crunch is great secondary stab while Superpower immediately threatens Bisharp, Kang, Terrakion, and Heatran. Ice Beam is for Landorus.

    [PokeCommunity.com] VGC 15 Salamence-Mega Team

    Volcarona @ Lum Berry
    Ability: Flame Body
    Level: 50
    EVs: 252 HP / 204 Def / 52 SpA
    Bold Nature
    - Rage Powder
    - Heat Wave
    - Hidden Power [Ground]
    - Protect

Secondary Ragepoweder user when Amoongus might not be a great pick. This spread allows me to survive a Return from Mega Kang while having double burn chance with Parental Bond. The Lum Berry allows me to redirect Spore and Twave away with ease. Defensive Volcarona is really underrated in doubles but works really well.

    252 Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Return vs. 252 HP / 204+ Def Volcarona: 126-150 (65.6 - 78.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
