Hey everyone, I've just started getting into VGC so I'd appreciate some help. The main idea here is to have a team that functions as a rain team, but can also pack a punch without rain support or against other weather teams. Mega Metagross is my favourite mega so I'd like him to be the centre point of the team.

    Politoed (M) @ Leftovers
    Ability: Drizzle
    Level: 50
    EVs: 252 HP / 236 Def / 20 SpD
    Sassy Nature
    IVs: 29 Spe
    - Surf
    - Icy Wind
    - Toxic
    - Protect

My Rain Team lead. Surf damages both opponents and provides health support for Toxicroak. Icy Wind to slow opponents down. Toxic to cripple bulky water types (Rotom-W, Milotic etc.) and other things it can't deal with.
Sassy with 29 Spe IVs to allow him to be slower than neutral speed Tyranitars to win weather war.

    Toxicroak (M) @ Life Orb
    Ability: Dry Skin
    Level: 50
    EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
    Adamant Nature
    - Poison Jab
    - Drain Punch
    - Sucker Punch
    - Fake Out

My other lead. With Drain Punch, Dry Skin, and Surf from Politoed, this frog can comfortably hold a life orb to boost its attacks. Poison Jab to hit fairies, Drain Punch for recovery, Fake Out to scout opponents and allow Politoed to spam poison. Substitute was considered instead of Fake Out but Toxicroak doesn't really have that much bulk to hide behind a Sub in Doubles.

    Greninja (M) @ Expert Belt
    Ability: Protean
    Level: 50
    Shiny: Yes
    EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
    Timid Nature
    - Hydro Pump
    - Ice Beam
    - Dark Pulse
    - Grass Knot

The utility frog. Expert Belt used because Toxicroak took his Life Orb.

    Mega-Metagross @ Metagrossite
    Ability: Clear Body
    Level: 50
    Shiny: Yes
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
    Adamant Nature
    - Meteor Mash
    - Zen Headbutt
    - Ice Punch
    - Bullet Punch

The Sweeper. Bullet Punch over Protect to revenge kill while mega-evolving. Ice Punch for dragons and grass types. (This thing is completely countered by Aegislash though).
Adamant Nature because I bred a shiny 5IV one.

    Ferrothorn (M) @ Rocky Helmet
    Ability: Iron Barbs
    Level: 50
    EVs: 252 HP / 172 Atk / 84 Def
    Brave Nature
    IVs: 0 Spe
    - Power Whip
    - Gyro Ball
    - Leech Seed
    - Protect

172 Atk to OHKO Rotom-W. Ferrothorn is used when I see opponents having Mega-Kang (to switch in on Fake out and deal massive damage with Iron Barbs + Rocky Helmet) and bulky water types.

Can't decide 6th member, any suggestions? (No Rotom-W... I hate that guy...)
    ------------------------------------------------

    Team Strategy:

If Rain is favoured, lead with double frog (Politoed + Toxicroak) and do the work for Metagross to come in later and rise hell.
My team lacks fire and fighting moves therefore have tough time dealing with steel types especially Mega-Mawile, Aegislash, Ferrothorn, Scizor, so the sixth member must be able to help me with that.

Any suggestions on the sixth guy and improvements on the team? Any help is appreciated!

How about Thundurus? He benefits from having Rain up and doesn't share weaknesses with anything else on your team, fortunately enough. HP Ice will handle Landorus well and he's always an issue in VGC, but you can run Grass Knot or Focus Blast if you're like me and find HP's difficult to get onto legendaries. Rain Dance will help keep rain up should you lose your Politoed, but Taunt is a good substitute if that's not your motive.

Thundurus @ Life Orb / Leftovers
    Ability: Prankster
    EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
    Timid Nature
    - Thunder Wave
    - Thunder
    - Hidden Power [Ice]
    - Rain Dance

You are Fire and Electric weak right now. I'm not very sure how viable Toxicroak is right now, but seems very interesting.

To deal with your problems I'd suggest Landorus-I with Sheer Force, the special variant.

Immune to electric and resists fire, it is fast and hits with a lot of power. Earth Power deals with Fire, Electric, and steel types. i suggest dropping the life orb on toxicroak and run black sludge instead.

    Landorus-Incarnate @ Life Orb
    Timid Nature
    Sheer Force
    -Earth Power
    -Psychic
    -Focus Blast
    -Knock Off

Your EVs will depend a lot on what specifically you need to counter, so I'll leave that up to you, but a standard 252 SpAtk / 252 Speed should suffice.

    Hope this helps!

Sounds interesting but is Sheer Force Landorus legit? That's a hidden ability.
By the way, Landorus is neutral to fire, not resisting it.

Not too concerned by thunder type attacks as Politoed takes 2OHKO and Greninja wouldn't always be water type, but I like the idea that it is immune to earthquake.

The Thundurus mentioned above also sounds tempting, thanks.

Sorry, I derped out. I thought you could also get HA genies in the clouds, but nope. Hmmmm. Let me come with another pokémon that works well with your team and I'll get back to you.
