I've been wondering about this for awhile since it's been bugging me...

I have the VLC player, which is great to use and take screenshots with as well as dealing with those weird formats that I sometimes find... (e.g. .mkv for subs).
However, I've found that VLC can't open .rmvb files. It can play the audio, but there's no video. I've got a stack of videos in .rmvb format (since its pretty HQ for the size that it gives) but VLC won't let me be able to take screenshots from them.

Are there any other programs out there which can allow me to take screenshots of .rmvb videos?? I don't really want to convert them all to something like .avi before using VLC...

.rmvb is our good friend RealPlayer. I would check some of the settings to make sure everything is ok. Try to open it manually using the open filemenu in VLC.

Another solution I know would be installing the Real Alternative codec pack (https://www.codecguide.com/about_real.htm), the only issue is I don't know if it works with VLC. I have it installed, except for K-Lite Codec pack w/Media Player Classic.

My preferred media viewer is The KMPlayer. It plays any format I've ever tried to throw at it (and I'm quite certain it takes .rmvb as well) and it has auto-capping as well as the ability to record video, audio, or both from what you're watching.

I'd definitely recommend giving it a shot. :D

I've tried playing with the settings in VLC but it simply won't load the video and the audio is broken at times. I've been using RealPlayer to watch them, but like most players it doesn't offer the screenshot option.

The codec is only for Media Player Classic I think, judging from the install menu.

EDIT: I just checked the VLC website. It doesn't support Realplayer videos. =\

Okay, I'll take a look at this one. Thanks. ^.^
