(note: I've already posted this on a different website, but I was curious to see other people's opinions and reactions.)

So recently I've seen this anime called Sword Art Online. I'm sure some of you have heard of it. If you haven't, this is the synopsis: "In the near future, a Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG) called Sword Art Online has been released where players can control their avatars through brain waves using technology called 'NerveGear.'"

There has been a lot of talk recently about an actual game being created in 10-20 years that can perform exactly like the game in the anime. There has been some progress with the Oculus Rift, and etc. But after seeing the show, I've been obsessed with a concept: What if there was a VRMMORPG (such a long acronym) for Pokemon? If the technology was available, it could be a reality.
Not only that, but it would be an open-world game.

Here are some pictures of a graphically enhanced Pokemon game to give you an idea: imgur.(com)/gallery/Z9jNn
However, the pictures above only suggest a regular game, not a virtual reality one.

Would any of you play it? Do you think it would be successful? (I sort of feel like this is an stupid question)

I'm a very big fan of Sword Art Online, and tried not to miss any episode after I was introduced. If there was an actual thing like this in real life, where we could control our characters using our own brain (and not any outside tool, such as some console controller by clicking buttons and whatnot--physical actions), it would indeed be pretty amazing. I've always wanted to play something like this, and seeing it become reality would be a dream come true.

If all of this are based off Pokémon, then it would be even more awesome. It's one of my most favorite series out there, so honestly, there's no room for me to make any complaint. Starting my journey, meeting people, battling others, earning gym badges, chasing of evil organizations, capturing Pokémon, training--it'd all be pretty fun, in my opinion. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this; there are plenty of other fans in the world who'd like to see something like this, too.

Watching things from screen is one thing, and doing things yourself is another.

I cannot lie, that actually looks quite interesting. Those seem like environments I would want to explore. Virtual reality is something I would check out if it was presented.

I am a big fan of SAO, I'm currently watching GGO.
I'd like to see a VMMORPG for Pokemon~

Let's hope it doesn't end up like that game from Spy Kids 2 (or was it 3?)
or "Wonder Realm" in the "Cyber Adventures" 5-part story from Archie & friends Double Digest #1-5...

To sum up my concerns for those who don't know neither Spy Kids nor Archie:
What if we get our conciousness in the game & somehow can't get out?

I'd like to see a VMMORPG of any kind myself, but I also feel this is something that can go VERY wrong...
