I used to think the same thing about Pupitar and Pineco! I just didn't remember at all until now. :>

That's a good point you brought up. I guess I have a tendency to look for a way to connect a Pokemon to another. Especially when a new generation is just coming out.

So was I. I never thought much of Luvdisc before, but after seeing Mamanbou I was happy to know a weaker Pokemon was finally going to get an up-grade. I was actually looking forward to getting a Luvdisc at some point. After finding out they had no connection I couldn't help feeling a little mad. I realize this is suppose to be a generation of Pokemon that have no connection to the past ones and so therefore they're going to be similar, but Mamanbou was a little too similar for me. Even Baffuron doesn't bother me as much. xD
 
When i first saw Froslass i thought it was a pre-evolution of Lugia

But... it does... You trade Seadra while it holds a Dragon Scale.

I used to think Mew evolved into Mewtwo - I was six at the time so I guess I can be excused...

Lol, I know it does...at the time, 11year old me concluded that anything unable to evolve by lv.100 mustn't evolve.....

And speaking of Mewtwo, when I got LeafGreen in 2008, I was still expecting to come across Mewtwo as part of the Team Rocket plotline....
 
I would of loved to see a Pinsir evolution. I don't like when theres more then 2 evolution stages and I don't think I'm alone instead of making ugly and pointless evolutions in pokes like Tangrowth this would be a better option..

You know I actually tought that Pickachu evolved into Raichu. So it was a bummer when mine reached level 100 without evolving. jkjk. But i too thought that pinsir evolved into heracross, scyther got an evo. And I somehow at a much younger age thought that togetick evolved into lugia, shutup.
 
This is news to me. I always thought Heracross was the evo of Pinsir.

Back in the day before Gen 2 was announced my Best friend had pics of Marill and at the time he believed it to be a evo of Pikachu called, Pikablu.

Dead serious. He swore on everything that that Pokemons name was Pikablu. He moved away before we found out it didnt have anything to do with Pikachu or Raichu.

From bulbapedia: For months prior to to the release of Pokémon Gold and Silver, Marill was often incorrectly referred to as "Pikablu", likely because of its slight resemblance to Pikachu.
 
When I was just getting into Pokemon I had no idea Dragonair and Dragonite were part of the same family. I thought Dratini evolved into Dragonair, and Dragonite was a standalone Pokemon.

I only found out somewhat recently that Remroid evolved into Octilarry. I've never used the line, or even paid much attention to them. It never occurred to me that those two Pokemon had anything to do with each other.
 
I thought that moltres evolved into Ho-oh and Articuno evolved into Lugia.
And electabuzz evolved into zapdos...
