6th Gen Wallace? Or Steven?

Considering that OR/AS will most likely have most elements from the original R/S, I think that Steven will be the Champion again.

It'll make sense for Steven to be champion. Maybe Juan will be the 8th gym leader and GF will not hint or tell us which of the two is champion until we arrive at the final room before the Hall of Fame.

Or maybe encounter Steven and Wallace at different times and once you reach the final room, then it would reveal who really is the champion? And maybe have the other be a miniboss in Postgame?

Steven definitely better suited the Champion title. I felt that Wallace should've just been Sootopolis leader. And it was rather weird that we had two water users in the League. (Juan was just completely irrelevant in Emerald, I wonder why he was even there). They'll probably have Steven since he could possibly own a Mega Aggron.

Well B2W2 and GSCHGSS had two dragon trainers similar to how Emerald had both Juan and Wallace. As long as they make Wallace strong I wouldn't mind if it's him or Steven.

When you read Steven's quotes on this page, you can tell that as a person, he is a courageous, cunning, and intelligent leader, while I see Wallace as a contest extraordinare who is far more interested in beauty and looks than the ideals of Steven. I don't know about anyone else, but I tend to skip through the dialogue when playing video games, so this may be of no relevance to some people.

Well, it's just that Juan has a very insignificant game presence. At least, Iris became Champion (and she wasn't entirely a Dragon trainer like Lance), and Clair had the Dragon Den (she's also related to Lance).

Besides, in my honest opinion, Wallace fits the image of a gym leader than a champion, plus I don't see how they could possibly make him stronger that players will be satisfied with.

Iris is actually more of a dragon trainer than Lance if one considers the originals. Also Juan and Wallace have a relation as Juan is Wallace's teacher who came out of retirement according to Emerald to take over the gym after Wallace became champion.

Speaking of Originals, will Steven perhaps have a more pure steel team than before?

To me it makes the most sense to have Wallace as the champion. You get more trainers that way.
Otherwise they would have to give Juan a different role. I can't really see him in any role that would be particularly noteworthy.
If there were another region for the post-game they could tack him in there somewhere. But otherwise he doesn't fit anywhere else...

They could do the version exclusives, with Wallace in one gym and Juan in another, but it doesn't seem worthwhile? Version differences should be something significant. And this really isn't. Both train in water Pokemon and have a similar teams, with only two different Pokemon... Sure, they could change up their teams but they'd still have the same typing.

But still, Juan is kinda insignificant in the game like RS had Wallace and in Emerald, BAM, "I AM YOUR NEW GYM LEADER, JUAN AND I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE STORY WHATSOEVER" It kinda irks me tbh.

And yes Steven should have a more pure-Steel type team this time around hopefully.

My sentiments exactly. Juan's backstory felt like it was written simply for him to conveniently fit in.

Anyways, since its RS remakes, they'll probably retain the same lineup from Ruby and Sapphire. Oh well.

I think that if they're remaking the game they'll just keep wallace as champion and steven as "hidden champion" as I personally don't think they'd bother to change a "small story" feature like that. BUTTT They may change the whole story line in a way that we develop a close friendship with steven/wallace more than in gen 3. I'd personally prefer wallace as I believe most people find a whole team of strong water pokemon more of a threat than rock/steel. For rock/steel spam the surfs and overheat. Water although has more weaknesses have more of a coverage of moves (take starmie, or in wallace's case milotic ;) )

Wallace is rubbish. Steven was a challenge.

To be fair to Juan, Winona didn't have a backstory either, nor did Browly (we only know his hobby to surf but we know the same thing about Juan (contests)). I hope that they add something to all of them.

I'm sure that even though they're RS remakes they'll add in elements of Emerald like how they added in the catch rates of Blue to FrLg, and a Suicune side story based off the events of crystal into HgSs. Emerald had better teams imo, so I'm hoping they'll do that.

I hope that they fix the lines from Emerald if they keep Wallace and Steven in their positions from that game. As Steven thanks us for helping him in the space center in Sootopolis when it was meant to be Mossdeep (the mistake is due to how in the RS he thanked us for helping him stop Groudon/Kyogre in the originals in Sootopolis).

All in all Steven will most likely be the Champ but Juan may continue to be the 8th Gym Leader while Wallace is more incorporated with Pokemon Contests.

I think that the version exclusive champion/ 8th gym leader may end up being the route they take. Maybe instead of having Steven in OR like I said earlier he'll be in AS and Wallace in OR in order to not flood AS with water specialists in addition to the water mascot.

I've heard a few different people's hopes/predictions for the games

"Juan would be the 8th gym leader, and Steven would be the champion. Then, when you rematch the E4, Wallace will be the champ and Steven will be in Meteor Falls"

"So what i was thinking is that in one version Wallace is the champion (Alpha Sapphire) and in another Steven is the Champion (Omega Ruby). And in meteorite falls you fight the Champion you didn't fight in the elite four."

I kind of like both ideas, (I'm assuming the second one is saying Juan will be 8th Gym Leader BTW) but I also would rather not see Juan in the games at all...
