So today I went and bought some booster packs at wally world. I get home, and the first one I try to open, doesn't have a pack in it. Some kid stole the pack out of it. Sneaky little **** actually put the packaging back on the hook to make it look like it was never stolen too! So I just thought I'd warn you guys to check your boosters to make sure they're actually in there. Luckily I went back to wally world and they let me exchange it for one that actually had a pack inside of it.

Just thought I'd let you guys know about this so you don't have to go through that crap because some little punk doesn't want to pay for his cards.

But heck I'm sure we've all stolen Pokemon cards from a major retailer at some point in our lives. I remember back when the team rocket set was out, I got this girl at a Family Dollar to give me a
couple free packs because I said they didn't have a star card in them. This actually worked too. xD

I've actually never stolen any cards and I do not recommend stealing them given how many stores have cameras and their own Loss Prevention crews.

I do recommend checking boosters to make sure the pack is still there and not open before you buy them if you're shopping in a store in a shady area, though.

I know full well the consequences of shoplifting. But with little kids, they're unlikely to be charged with a crime and just get a slap on the wrist and sent home with their parents. My friend got caught stealing lighters one time and he had to pay 500$ to the store to keep it off his record.

I haven't stolen anything since I was about 14. I actually work in retail now so I know how they keep an eye on what is being stolen. It's not just cameras and loss prevention crews. But sadly the loss prevention at my store is non-existent so people literally just hold stuff in plain sight and walk right out the door because they know the cashiers can't do anything once they're out the front door. It's a safety thing, but the store I work for really doesn't seem to care people are doing this.

I've had numerous accounts with stolen cards. In most cases I just see the empty packages laying down on the shelf below the pegs. The cards are in a closed checkout lane too so there's cashiers right there in the next isle. This has happened mostly at Walmart.

I always look at the side and make sure they aren't opened and have packs in them when I buy them.

I've had two incidences where I bought opened packs without realizing it. The first was a Dark Explorers pack, it was opened at the bottom and taped, they replaced most of the cards with 2 code cards, 2 trainers including a Pokemon Catcher and the rest were Magic the Gathering cards. So now I also check for tape on the package. I was embarrassed because it was so poorly opened if I had just looked at he bottom of the package I would have noticed...but you wouldn't have seen the tape in your peripheral vision so unless you looked right at it you wouldn't notice. But pack itself was taped on the bottom too so....

The other time I bought a sealed 3 pack, 2 of the packs were open, but it seemed to be a factory error as the outer box was sealed and both contained rares and one even had a Lv. X in it.

This is why I only buy things from my local card shops, once, I bought about 4 Boundaries Crossed on a Landorus hunt, Without relizing it I bought an open pack. Luckily, a workers kid opened the pack and the store was worried I was going to sue, so the store gave me 2 tins of my choice. So I ended up grabbing my Mewtwo EX and a Landorus EX In one fell swoop.I still won't buy it from walmart or target because of this, and my card store is cheaper.

You can't sue because of something that isn't the stores fault. Even if you tried to sue walmart, they'd throw so much money at it you'd be dead before it settled. You can't start a lawsuit over a 4$ pack of cards lol a lawyer wouldn't even waste his time to talk to you.

I know, that is why it was funny. People need to think this through.

IIRC, you've needed it to be an amount of $20 or greater in order to be able to sue...

I'm curious where you live that makes your card store cheaper than either of those, because there are no card stores that are cheaper than either of those where I am.

By the way, this happened at Walmart, not my card store.

I've been to quite a few seeing different prices.
Most share the same basic $4 / $4.20 price

The good ones share a base of $3 a pack

And there is one great card store I've seen so far, MVP Sports and Games, which sold all previous packs for 2.75 a pop. :)
