Hello all original gamers. I have already made known that I am one of the largest Mew fans ever (please no fat jokes...) As such I have something I need to warn everyone about. Do not believe everything you watch! I was searching one day and I found this AWESOME Mew cheat. It was one where you got to cerulean city and after beating the bridge trainers you could go back and catch a level 6 MEW! I have to say I was extra excited. After hearing that you can only get Mew from gameshark ( and guys be careful with that too its quite dangerous) I could not wait to try out this "cheat" So i watched the following video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkF7Xjxn9jc
DO NOT TRY THIS CHEAT!!!! I did it and after a while i noticed something a bit fishy. I could no longer get in my pokebox...and then all of the sudden my game was ALL GLITCHES! It nearly fried my gameboy! I lost one of the best games ever there T.T *cries*
So this is a warning to all you blue/red players out there DO NOT USE THIS CHEAT!!!
    Thanks.:D

there is a way to get mew in rby with no gameshark this but it is already posted in the stickies i think, this: *image removed*

EDIT: i have done it and it works on yellow too

Well, yes. Screwing around with glitches tends to carry the risk of causing your game to crash if you don't do exactly as the instructions say after Flying or Teleporting from the first trainer. Even one misstep (such as, for example, battling the wrong trainer or battling another Pokémon besides the one you're supposed to be fighting in this cheat) can produce effects you weren't looking for.

It's likely that you didn't take the exact same steps as shown in the video (battling no one but the Slowpoke trainer, specifically), so you ended up with a wonky Mew in the end. I've tried this cheat a couple times myself (once on Red by Flying from the gambler near Saffron's east entrance to put Mew near Lavender, another on Yellow by Teleporting from a trainer just west of Vermilion to put it near Diglett's Cave, and a third on a restart of Yellow by Teleporting from the trainer in this video), and after following pretty much the exact directions after fleeing, I've never really had any problems.

Of course, I'm not recommending it myself. (My glitch experiments come as a result of not caring too much about a game I can replace with a trip to GameStop and $5.) I'm just saying that, yeah, screwing around with glitches and not taking incredible care in how you're doing it (or even thinking you are taking incredible care in how you're doing it but making a mistake along the way without realizing it) can produce some pretty wonky effects. (Some of them are temporary. Others may need a restart to fix. Depends on what you did.) That's just something that's been around since we knew the glitches were there. *shrug*

I was screwing around with the "Walk through anything" code in Crystal, (thank God I saved state before doing it), and I went through a house wall. Then, I suddenly heard Vs. Silver music. XD Don't know why.

My game froze, except for the battle music. I opened state and boom, freeze thaw. Try not to use that code in a house. o_o

Yes, the Mew Glitch is pretty crazy, unless you battle the Youngster. I was too far in Red to want to restart my game, so I tried it by using the Ditto method, and ended up in one of the looping battles with a PokeManiac. What I'm trying to say is, only use it if you are 100% sure you got the hex values right. Also, saving can sometimes help (but not always).

All in all, Mewliveson, the only methods that work are this glitch, a hacking device, trading or the discontinued events. Don't believe anything else without a good source.

Well there is a Mew glitch in Red Version. I used it to get Mew, it's pretty cool.

    What exactly did you do?

This is what he did, and yes it works I confirm it.

Only if you don't do it right. I have done the same glitch before with no problems. You had to have messed up for it to do that.

If you use this glitch there is a very high chance it will happen to you too.

I wouldn't call it a very high chance. =/ As stated by pretty much everyone above (as well as myself), you only get terrible effects from a glitch if you royally screw up. Otherwise, yeah, I've never had problems with it (and I've mentioned how I've used this glitch multiple times), and neither have a number of the above posters. In fact, to tell you the truth, I haven't really heard of stories in which someone's game completely froze and glitched to the point where it's beyond repair until yours. I'm not saying that you're lying. I'm just saying that what you went through is not only rare but also probably the result of a misstep none of the rest of us have done.
