I've been hearing alot about thes called "clauses". What are they. I only know that they are Pokemon with certain attacks. Can someone give me a link to the Cluae Pokemon or Post them. Please and Thank You.

They are not pokemon with certain attacks, they are rules. These are the common ones:

"Sleep" - May not put more than 1 pokemon to sleep at any time.
"Evasion" - This is because more of hax, because this is reliant on luck, which is frowned upon.
"Hax Items" - Another form of above, items such as Quick Claw and Scople Lens, which are based on Luck.

    Those are the common ones...

Not to be rude, but I did not get any of that at all! Can you please dumb it down for me. PLease and Thank You.

Simple. Evasion moves like double team rely on luck, not skill, thus are banned.

You cannot put more than one pokemon on the opponent's team to sleep at a time, barring rest...pretty simple...

Items like quick claw give you a 10% chance of attacking first, which also relies on luck rather than skill...also banned

    ok....

The sleep one means that only 1 pokemon can be asleep at a time, so a really fast pokemon with Hypnosis cannot put all pokemon to sleep.

The evasion is due to luck. Many people don't like luck to play a big part in games, because moves like double team lower the percentage of hitting an opponent.

Hax is another term for luck. Items that include luck are things like Quick Claw and Scope lens.

Also OHKO Clause. Not allowed to use One-Hit KO moves. Gullitine, Horn Drill, etc.

okay thank you. :) i think this is all i need to know. if there are more clauses please post them. if not this thread can be closed. thanx...

Okay, some people don't like legendaries at all, and ubers (like Mewtwo) are banned from standard play, period. Yes, and as Sims mentioned, OHKO clause...but only newbies use those moves anyhow.

I don't see the point in OHKO or hax item clause. OHKOs never bother me, I can get by them easily and have no trouble with Atricuno. Hax items make you forfeit another useful item, and only work sometimes.

Machamp has No Guard...this means all offensive moves have Aerial Ace's accuracy. That's why it having OHKO moves is a problem. It's like Articuno's scopekill combo without the scope turn.

    Anyway,
Freeze Clause - No more than one Pokemon per team may become frozen.

Ubers like Mewtwo or Darkrai are banned in standards, but there is an uber metagame for them.

Some people clause other stuff that are generally considered standards. The Kd8 clan is known for this, they actually have their own standard metagame that is different from ours.

Freeze Clause is obsolete. It cannot be controlled, so no one uses it. Ice Beam only has a 10% chance of working, and freezes are luck. What, if I freeze you, I am no longer allowed to use Ice Beam, or other Ice attacks?

No, it just means the chance of freeze becomes 0%. You can still use them. It's programmed into PBR, Netbattle, and Shoddy.

So what you're saying is, freezae clause is automatic in the game? I got no problem with that.

No, I think he's saying it can be turned on and off in the options.

Another clause programmed into the games are for Pokemon that have Selfdestruct, Explosion, Destiny Bond and Memento. It basically forces these moves to fail if this would cause a draw, enforcing only wins and losses in a battle.

There is also Species Clause, cannot have more than one of the same Pokemon in your team

Self-KO clause is stupid. If I'm in a tournament, and Forry booming can keep me from losing until the next battle, I'm going to boom him.

The evasion/ hax items clauses seem pretty stupid. They're based on luck- so what? Luck is part of the game. Or is there a critical hit clause in there as well?

Also, hax != luck. Hax = hacking.
