For some strange reason I've always seem to love animes that have a completely different and kewl world(*cough* pokemon)So, I loved rockman.exe and rockman.exe stream :D It took me a while to want to watch bleach because it had a real world setting..I got hooked once they went to soul society XD.

I just look for interesting plot overall,cute/hot/interesting characters, etc.

I usually don't look at the flaws of anime, which explains why I have a variety of diffrent tastes ^^

It varies for me. In romance anime, I want characters that I can actually get behind and like, when things go bad for them, I want to feel bad, when they're happy, I wanna be happy. I want good obstacles in their path and have them eventually end up happy, or if it can be done really good, have it be tragic. Not too many anime do that for me, though RomeoXJuliet is the first in years that has been able to do that for me, easily my favorite anime of the year so far.

For comedy, I like slapstick when done right, like in Keroro Gunso, one of the funniest anime in years, and Hayate no Gotoku to a lesser degree, they're both really funny anime for different reasons. Keroro Gunso's still my all time favorite comedy anime though.

Outside of that, I just like seeing an anime be creative or give me interesting characters, and if it's not that, then just something that can reinvigorate a tired genre and character type.

Something with a good plot and lots of twists (Death Note and Bleach) ^^

Something with at least a decent, tolerable, plot. The art style has to be unique as well as the characters. Characters have to be interesting and have some kind of background story I find unique.

*nods* My thoughts exactly. (Death Note pwns!)

I love an anime (or manga) with lots of plot twists, and things you'd never expect to happen, happening.

Other then that, if the characters are likeable, or hot, then I'll probably like it.

I'm super picky when it comes to liking anime, which is why I only like a few of them. In an anime I like to see characters with a fun personality and nes that aren't cliche. Also, a very interesting plot is a big quality, I hate how some animes are the same old story with just different characters =/

Plus, I love music <3 So if the music is nice and fits the show / scene, then it adds some fun to the anime :3

I have a variety of tastes. I like Naruto and Fruits Basket mostly.

If I'm bored, I want to watch Naruto or Bleach. Something that will make me laugh. Or if I'm indifferent, I watch bloody action-filled animes. Or stuff with a lot of twists. Like....Fullmetal Alchemist...or....DNAngel.

Fruits Basket makes me think a lot about how life is going, and how my relationships are with others. Which takes a LONG time to think about for me. So I usually watch it alone.

I dont know why, but sometimes if the anime's horrible.I cant watch it. Mostly I look for pretty girls. And something that has to do with magical things. ^_^

    must. have. character. development.
also it helps if i like all the regular cast, even the 'comic relief', and in addition, persistant story threads are bonus points.

Im not much of one for long winded 100+ episode series (though I have broken this rule before...>_> looks towards bleach and naruto), I tend to stick to the 26-50 area. Where theres enough room for a great story without dragging it on with mindless filler.

In terms of what I look for I beleive Ryotaro summed it up the best: I need characters I can get behind, feel what they feel. I need to care about their troubles and travels to really enjoy the anime. A well developed story more about the characters than the unique enviorment they are set in.

    Currently watching:
    Beck (seriously love this one)
    Gankutsuou
    Desert Punk
    Le Chevalier D'Eon
    Ergo Proxy

    Check them out :p

*Blushes* If it says Shonen-Ai in the description, I'm definately all for it. XD
But, I'm also a sucker for things that are cracked out, such as Excel Saga and Cormartie High School, and Ninja Nonsense: Ledgend Of Shinobu But. I also enjoy crying a little, so of course, I am always on the lookout for tearjerkers. (Chrono crusaide and Gravitation. WAHH! T_T) And Mahou Shoujo is teh luff! <3 (Sailor Moon yo!)

It really matters what I'm watching. Say I'm watching a comedy. I actually want that show to be funny, slap stick comedy is ok, but I want to actually laugh if that show even wants to call itself funny.

I also look for really big plot twists. Things like pokemon where you go "OH NOES TEAM ROCKET IS STEALING PIKACHU AGAIN" gets a little old after the last 7 years of watching the same old thing.

I hate long animes too. 'nuff said.

Lastly, interesting characters. If there's a normal depressed character in there, I say whatever, but if there's a character in there bursting with personality, then I say YAY.

First and foremost a storyline and well-drawn. Nothing ticks me off more than a well-drawn anime with a pointless storyline. Strong characters are also a must.
