I saw that by the right side of Elm's lab there is a set of stairs going up, and it got me thinking, what do you guy's think is up there?

I was thinking his house too, which could mean that if your playing as Gold, Crystal could live in what was Elm's house in GSC, and if you play as Crystal, Gold would live there... that's my theory anyway.

I think it will just be a cluttered attic type area where you can eventually go up to once you complete a certain part of the game. Maybe after you get the national dex, you can go up there and pick out a 3rd Gen starter?

Just note that I am simply rambling on.

It could also be another part of his lab?

Or, maybe you can't acess it until you beat the Elite 4? It could be where the Master Ball is?!

That does make some sense although it would be better if they left the giving of a second starter to Oak, maybe when (or if) you get to Kanto Oak would give you a 1st Gen starter after getting to Pallet Town.

    Eh, I doubt it's anything.
The staircase is probably just for show, to make the Pokélab look better, more like a lab.

    Yeah it's probably nothing.
    Just his bedroom.

You have to remember that he haves a wife and a son in a house near the lab. I think he goes there to sleep.

Maybe you can actually see an improved script at the beggining, my idea is that when you leave New Bark the camera focus Silver and he enters the lab by the 2nd floor and then he sneaks in the lab and steal a Pokémon. It would be nice to see.

Um...maybe extra PokéBall storage, and some may contain Pokémon that you can play with, but cannot keep. :P

Maybe it's not elms lab? Maybe that's someone else's house (gold or crystal maybe depending on if you are a boy or girl) and they moved his lab to another part of town we can't see in the screenshot?

    Good one!
We already have got Dawn as Prof. Rowan's assist, maybe Kenta/Crystal can be Elm's, so that way we have another rival :D

The bedroom is possible, since in the originals, his family is like "He's so hard at work he hardly ever comes home!".

doesn't that contradict your point? You're saying his bedroom (as in, a part of his home)
is atop his lab, yet his wife says he rarely comes home? Doesn't that imply that
his home is not in the lab?

Anyway, seeing as there's new features and technology and all, I bet it'll involve
and explanation (and a cutscene) as to how Silver got into the Lab. It's
probably a second floor or something, and he sneaked his way downstairs and got
    the pokemon.

Huh. It reminds me of Pokemon Special. There weren't stairs but Gold catches him coming out the second floor.

Putting Anime and Manga aside it's most likely a storage room or another level of the laboratory. I understand some people live in the top of their businesses, but that doesn't seem like something a professional scientist would do. (Like I said, put Oak's lab in the anime aside. It's more like a farm really.)
