I found this and it wasn't touched for a long time, so I decided to revive it, becuase new games have come out and so on....
My favorite would have to be either Wild arms3 or Dark cloud 2..

Wouldn't this go in other entertainment/games?....I don't know.

Ontopic: I like the music in Dragon Ball Z Budokai 1/2/3/ Tenkaichi Budokai. Most of the music is boring fight music but some of it is really good.

I love Seiken Densetsu 3 and Secret of Mana music. I've never played either of them, but I love the music. Innocent Water is love. <3 And so is Meridian Child.

Final Fantasy VII (One Winged Angel pwns), Final Fantasy VIII, Kingdom Hearts, and Kingdom Hearts II. I cant wait till the KH2 OST comes out in a month

I absolutely love the music in Chrono Cross, Xenogears, Final Fantasy VIII, and Final Fantasy IX.

Half-Life 2. Most music in the game during the hovercraft chase scene (Water Hazard) was amazing.
It made the hunter-chopper battle more exciting.

Hard to say, but FF VII and IX had some really great music, Seiken Densetsu 3 also has some incredible music, and let's not forget about Lufia II rise of the sinistrals. I don't really know wich one had my favourite, but...

Anything Zelda. The majority of it's music gets the right balance of being incredibly simple, yet complex at the same time. Anything Koji Kondo I like usually, his style can vary greatly, a reason I like it so much.

All the Legend of Zelda games, as TRIFORCE89 said, and also the Metroid series, especially Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. The music in Metroid is sorta like darkwave or industrial-ish style, so...gotta love it. And they added some sweet guitars on the MP2:3 title theme. I haven't played KH, but Simple and Clean still manages to be cool. So lyk totally yey.

*is definitely more awesome than the next poster*

I'd say Final Fantasy VII, but I've never actually played it.

I guess I'll say Zelda, the Mario RPGs, or the Megaman games.

I like the music in Metroid Prime a lot more than I did in Echoes. In Prime, a lot of it isn't really music, just...I dunno, how to explain. It's like music and not music at the same time, it feels very organic and helps flesh out the moods of the levels a lot.

The first time that I really noticed the music enough in a game to like it would be in Golden Sun. Both of them. But more in the second one. I adore the background stuff that was done and it's just..very nice. :D

All of the Megaman (1-7, and Rockman & Forte) music, MMBN music (1-6, including 4.5), Zelda music (OOT, MM, TMC, whatever else), Mario music (especially Bob-Omb Battlefield theme (SM64) & Tubba Blubba battle theme (Paper Mario 1) though the actual battle was a joke and I didn't listen to it too much because he got down in seconds), and some from other games, can't remember which ones though. That's a lot, eh? xD

I like megaman battle network (1-5), Any FF music, Wild arms seris music, legened of Dragoon, Inuyasha SOCM music...I like other music but the names escape me at the moment.

Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken and (like many other people), anything Legend of Zelda. I tend to like anything melodically complex or anything that actually makes an attempt to sound like more than a mere tune in a game.

I can't help but be partial to the pokemon R/B/Y music too, but just for sentimental reasons. Oh, and the original Tetris theme.

Yeah, I know what you mean. One track I remember...was during the battle with Meta-Ridley at the end, that was a really cool track. One of my friends is getting the Japanese soundtrack for both of them soon, so hopefully I'll be able to get that from him.

Wild ARMs, Wild ARMs: 2nd Ignition, Wild ARMs: Advanced 3rd, Wild ARMs: Alter Code F, and Wild ARMs: The 4th Detonator have stunningly good music for games.
So those five games have my overall favourite music of all time.

And other games that have some good music I like are Final Fantasy V, Chrono Cross, and Final Fantasy VIII.

Wild ARMs is king when it comes to the world of video game music, and Michiko Naruke is queen when it comes to composing.

Good ol' VGM.
