I have always picked a girl in the pokémon games. The only time I wasn't a girl before, was when I didn't have any pokémon games as yet whilst my brother did, and so I had to be at the boy. But in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum or every pokémon game I get, I just pick the girl. Perhaps if in the new games to come I don't really like how the girl looks, I might pick the boy but it all depends.

When Playing a pokemon game, I always choose the Male no matter how ugly he looks.

Lucas could use some major work in D/P.

I play as a girl...I would love it if they made choices of girls or boys though someday...I get sick of playing as the main character all the time and I'd like to pick my own : ( Alas, customization is a definite hope for the future games..

As a man, I usually pick a guy. In the case of D/P/Pt however, I just can't attach myself to the Lucas's design, so I end up choosing female. :P

On certain challenge runs, I sometime go for the female character as well, mostly because I don't take the game as seriously. XD

Usually girl, since that IS what I am, but sometimes the guy if I don't really like the girl design or if I am just playing for laughs. Or if I have two games from the same generation I'll have one girl and one guy, did that with Ruby and Sapphire. I played as the guy character in Fire Red for the longest time because I thought the girl design was ugly, but after a while I decided to give her a shot and she grew on me :p I didn't really like the girl design in DPPt at first either, but the guy is even uglier so... xD;

I generally pick the boy, but I agree, most of the girls look a lot better. I think it's too awkward to be opposite gender though.
