What happened between Brock and Professor Ivy...

I was watching the power of one movie again, and happen to have seen the part where prof oak was conversing with prof ivy.. and brock was running around behind prof ivy..

which makes me wonder about the johto region.. why did brock come back? he appeared to be devastated when ash and co mentioned prof ivy's name.. was the reason why brock left ivy shown in the series? anyone can tell me the reason?

No reason. The writers just needed a ploy to bring him back, and so they had him come back depressed. There was never any explanation given. It's just something else for the fans to theorize on.

My complicated theory: Maybe Professor Ivy was dying of a fatal disease called pokerus...(cause: by too much interaction with pokemon)
Bill (p.c. dude) probably used her in an experiment to turn her into a Magikarp and she was put in the lake in front of his house. She got pokerus from being in the water with all magikarp...lol (I know that pokerus isn't that, I just made it up...)
Ivy told Brock that she was dying, Brock was heartbroken and he was told to go back to his friends...The End... :(

Hmmm.. I liked the simple theory of the "she had a husband". Perhaps her husband came back few months later.. and to add on to the effect, Brock wanted to propose? to her exactly at the time when he realised that she had a husband?

Let's not forget Pokemon's an anime also meant for the young kids, so anything like prof. Ivy being a 'he', or anything else deemed unfitting for young kids, shouldn't be in. I think 'she had a husband' would be more suitable.

Takeshi came back because the writers wanted to. Seriously, fans weren't too happy about him leaving in the Orange Islands, so it was just a ploy.

I would have to agree that fans wanted him back, and the writers had no choice but to bring him back. I am one very good example.. I was devastated because Brock went away.. not only me, several others that I know of feel the same way too..

Hey, we might be able to get our Misty back too.. If fans' speculations could bring Brock back, I see no reason why Misty can't be back by popular demand.. :P
