What if Pikachu did evolve?

Pikachu is also one of the very few things that hasn't changed since the first season, and I think that's a good thing. Change is good and can be interesting, but you've still gotta keep some things the same as an homage to your roots.

I strongly agree with what you said here. Somethings do need to change, but Pikachu is something that just doesn't need touching.

I thought the underdog thing was also another reason. Especially that episode about Magikarp, and that other fish pokemon, and their trainer's not wanting to evolve them... In a club too. While that is interesting... Having a powerful magikarp would seem rather illogical.

It just isn't right for Pikachu to evolve. Not only would he lose all his charm, speed, Volt Tackle, etc.., but he would surely lose his fans as well.

The underdog thing doesn't really work on Pikachu, as he once took out an Onix and Dragonite. However, he is still one of the few things that hasn't changed one bit, and I'm content with that.

Why would the franchise change its name? Obviously losing an iconic, a mainstream symbol can be the most idiotic thing a franchise can do.

When someone thinks about the Pokémon franchise, a majority of people think of either Satoshi but most of the time Pikachu. Not Mew, Lucario, Riolu, etc.

these changes could benefit the fans. only people who seem to not want pikachu to change are the fangirls who are crazy, for example 'oh my gaaaawsh! nooo! don't change pikachu it's too cute! :3 :3 :3 raichu is ugly :<" which I couldn't care less about.​

Why the generalization? If you didn't know though, Pokémon runs not on tough Salemence or Charizard or Raichu but on cute Pokémon like Pikachu. That's why cute Pokémon are generally introduced first.

my haterid for pikachu is huge, and even through being a pokemon fan, pikachu gets too much attention and needs a serious change of image.​

last time I heard, pikachu wasn't necessarily the first pokemon introduced. besides, it's not really cute at all to me. if it were not the main character, people would prefer raichu anyday. and even I prefer raichu 100%.

so is ash, and the old characters who were with him. for example, misty, who people had lots of fans for her but what did they do to her? took her out, and if it were pikachu I would be loads happier.​

1. well, not all of his pokemon are seen on that head of his are they?
2. and then when it evolved into charizard, look at its massive fanbase who I see everyday.
3. pikachu has learnt enough moves already, probably them all with having as much training as it has now.
