Hi everyone. I have been wondering around a lot of different websites and i am have come to a brick wall here or what path i should choice.

I was wondering What program should i use to make a Pokemon game that is unique i mean there is Rpg maker Xp and I know some people have made with Game Maker but i really want to know what do you suggest or think would be better to make a Pokemon game that is based around the 4th generation of Pokemon.

Sorry if i posted in the wrong place i am new here and i really didn't know where i show post this to hopefully get a answer about my question.

RPG Maker XP already has a near complete SDK. In fact everything is mostly there.

Ummmm you wanna work together on the game.. cos i just started my own and i need people to help. My progress Ive made the Region map and mapped out the first Map. Lol we can think of a name i guess and i'm training up my fakemon skills at the moment Ive made a few but nothing special.

Okay i have been looking at people's Pokemon games and i am just wondering is everyone using the same Pokemon essentials kit or are there multiple ones out there?

Personally I find the SDKs very buggy at times( and I'm on a 12-core PC so don't give me spec crap )
You're betting off coding your own.
(Pokemon games are by far the easiest games to code..seriously)

Game Maker is a better editor but you must/learn GML.

Wait, what? Essentials isn't particularly buggy; sure, not everything is implemented, but it works fine. If you get errors while using it, chances are it's your own fault (a bad script command, or faulty custom script). There are fixes in the Essentials thread for the few bugs which remain.

Pokémon games aren't exactly the easiest to code. Sure, basic map and battle systems may not be too difficult, but once you start including every single detail, it gets pretty complicated. I'd say puzzle and platformer games (e.g. Mario and Tetris) are a lot easier to code than Pokémon.

But yeah, if you learn a programming language and make a new engine, you can tailor it to your own game's needs. There are many features in Essentials that most people will never use, and a few missing features only a few people want. If you start from scratch, this isn't a problem. However, be prepared to put in a lot more work (learning a language and coding an engine both take time). I've never used Game Maker, but as it has its own map editor, it might be a good place to start. Alternatively, you could create a new engine for RPG Maker.

If you just want to start designing a game, though, go for RMXP and Essentials. The coding is all taken care of, so you can jump straight into things like maps and story.
