Well, I use a lot of free software, and multiboot Vista and Ubuntu Linux (I'd get a better distro, but Wubi is just too nice). Most of my programs would run under Linux, but there are a few that don't.
Course, I'm not playing many games lately. But then again, I'm too lazy to configure XAMPP under Linux, so I'm staying, mostly in Windows (And I mean I'm too lazy to make it use the same folder for both my Windows and Linux sides).
Lawl, FF, GIMP, Pidgin are some of my most used programs.

Generally speaking, commercial, closed source software is always better than Open Sores. Open Sores spread diseases, donchaknow? Opera is better than Firefox, Office is better than OpenOffice, Photoshop is better than The Gimp, OSX is better than NetBSD, et cetera.
Commercialism is the best thing that could happen to software, because it gives a direction for development.

    Errrrrr....No.
    No.
    No.
Have you even used the open source programs? Try using Ubuntu Linux, and the rest of those programs.
I've used both of all of those, and the only one that could be called better was Photoshop, but it's $300 something USD! Not worth it. Lawl, I use GIMP at home and CS3 at school. Also, OPERA BETTER THAN FF? I'M SORRY, WHAT? Opera renders slower than even IE7! It lacks plugins, and all it's features are available in FF as a plugin. Although, there isn't anything that can rival Opera's torrent support for FF, I use utorrent anyways (Closed source, but free anyway)

    CS3 is still better.

Actually its faster than IE7 and FF3. This is proven, please get some facts because you throw silly insults and claims XD

Opera doesn't need plugins, it has everything built in and runs in 1/2 of the memory foot-print of Firefox. Plus it renders more accurately (proven), renders faster (proven) and crashes less (proven).

    Got anything else, fanboy? :3

^ Heh, I'd like Opera, if I could customize it all in the same window :P

Because I'm running it now? Seriously it's good. But it simply is not Windows. If you expect Linux to be a free version of Windows, you are in for a big, big shock :)

As for your errors, I bet you didn't search for them in Google? And using your logic, I get errors in XP therefore an entire operating system is "terrible" :P

I never said ubuntu was a free version of windows, and google searching came up with doing the same **** over again

Alas, not everyone is happy but it does happen. I imagine it was probably a driver problem which unfortunately are all too common currently! :( But Ubuntu is not terrible :)

Well, I can't find the speedchart, but FF3 renders pages faster than Opera, and I think IE7 did as well. It was close. And Opera works better on crappy computers, but that's not a concern to me. But please, show me your sources for Opera being better!
And Vista better than Ubuntu? No, it's not. If you ran off the LiveCD, Vista is better, but try Wubi. Only thing Vista has on it is it can play slightly more Windows games (Lawl, Wine FTW).

I found plenty of links with one google search for "opera better than firefox 3"
    here's one example:

Learn all about the weaknesses of Furryfox. Ohh buuuuurn.
And, lulz, Vista runs SLIGHTLY more games? Ahahaha oh wow, really? Not like...all games, perfectly; where Wine is riddled with texture errors, bugs, physics glitches and lessened performance; and even THEN only a few games even run.

Okay, as for the Opera/Firefox debates, I say it's all down to preference.

I personally prefer Firefox 3 to Opera, but Opera isn't that bad either. Opera is the browser I use as a backup to Firefox :).

I think we should stop fighting on which is better and leave it to what program each user prefers :D

I use free software, even Linux Ubuntu 8.04.
GIMP is better than Photoshop at Filters.
and Opera is not free, because it's not open source.
(I'm wondering why some people called free software "communist")

We should use both open source and closed source, because the quality is important.

...which is just further proof to my point that closed source is always better than open source :P
    Errr...no, it's not.
Also, have you even used Wine, then Vista? Srsrly, Vista will run maybe 1/5 games I want to play.
Also, that Firefox Myths site, bull.
IE will ALWAYS have faster loadtimes on Windows since IE is PART of Windows. It's also MUCH slower than Firefox. And in my experience, FF>Opera, but I've never used 9.5. I might consider it though.
And Sawaa, which is better? Mac or Linux?

Who gives a living crap? As long as it works well, and does what you need, and if you enjoy using it, you really shouldn't be bothering with finding out if it's open source or not.

Jesus Christ, people have something called a preference here. You ever heard of that? Some people just don't care who made it or if it's open source. As long as it was carefully built, and well-made, it's all good.

I just don't understand why you would whine about something that really starts to create a sort of fanboyish attitude towards software, which is completely unnecessary.

As much as I like Linux, there is ZERO chance that Wine runs more games than Vista. Gaming in Wine isn't even that mature yet!

Please get your facts together. You make the rest of us Linux users look like idiots!
