Title says: What is the 25 letter/4 word minimum for?
    I've always wonder that...

spammers prolly (see now i have to use more words lmao)

I've always wondered as well... Wouldn't spammers just repeat their message to get past the rule?
...and then they'd get their post deleted, and would probably be subsequently warned not to do it again.

If they continue, then they'd get a nice little infraction for bypassing the character limit. Or, it could skip straight to this step. That's really up to the moderator that comes across it, to be honest.

DJ and Team Fail are correct. The rule is in place to preserve a somewhat intellectual environment here at PC. If we had a bunch of one-word replies, all of our discussions would be just dreadful. Besides, four words and 25 characters really isn't that hard to come up with anyhow. >:

It is simple really to get the character count needed.

When asked what your favorite food is...

    Don't Say: Pizza.
Say: My favorite food is pizza. <------ Really simple to add that..

I always thought of it as a way to get people to make their posts meaningful by expanding on their answer.

Instead of making a post in a hypothetical OVP thread about cheese like this:
    I like cheese

you're encouraged to make a post like this:

Yes I do like cheese. My particular favorite variety is Muenster, but Swiss and Provolone are also good. :P

The latter is more informative and interesting to read, no?

Whenever anyone asked me, I always summed it up by saying:

If you can't think of four words and/or 25 characters for a post, it's really not worth posting and definitely not worth anyone's time reading.

I want to make that now. :(

Also relative, numbers don't count as words, as far as the rules go, in Other Trivia at least. [/fun facts]

Yeah, the point of the rule is entirely to promote useful, fun, and enjoyable chatter. It's not unfair in any way as far as I'm concerned.

^ best post i've seen here so far.

That is a very good point. Plus it isn't that hard to type four words or 25 characters.
