I didnt see a thread about this so I thought I would start one, List your favorite and least favorite cards from any of the pokemon sets, promos, or prize cards. it can be for any reasons, if you like the artwork, if its a personal favorite pokemon, if you like to use it in games, any reason what so ever.
I will start it off with a top 5 favorite and least favorite list.
1. Holo Giovanni from gym Challenge.... this guy is just awesome, he is my favorite Gym Leader and being the boss of team rocket and having what seems to be a endless amount of money. and the artwork of him with the gymbadge behind him is pretty cool s well. The effect back in the day was pretty good too, kind of like a rare candy for Giovanni pokemon only.
2. holo Sabrina from Gym Challenge..... she is my second favorite gym leader of all time, she is powerful, and uses some of my favorite pokemon, Alakazam anyone. The artwork is simple but awesome at the same time. The effect isn't that great but who cares its sabrina.
3. Erikas Dragionair from Gym Heroes...... once again this is simply based on artwork, its very simple but elegant and Dragionair is one of the prettiest pokemon out there to begin with. The attack isn't bad ether, and its secondary one is one that can be ether useless or very helpful. Now where is my Erika's Dragonite?
4. Rockets Scyther Gym Heroes....... This guy is just plain cool. His action pose captures the feel of a scyther, the minimalistic background also makes scyther standout all the more. He also has a pretty good attack and he technically has a evolution in the form of Rockets Scizor too.
5. Promo Pikachu from pokemon the movie....... This is a personal attachment, I got this card when I went to see the movie in theaters and I have had this card ever sense. I loved the movie when I first seen it and all my friends wanted to trade for my pikachu, but i refused lol. Its attack isn't all that good but its artwork, with that lighting strike in the background is just perfect.
Now for the worst cards.
1. Gambler from fossil...... this card is a HUGE risk to play, if you play it and get tails you pretty much lose the game, if you get heads you have a huge advantage. Plus the Card art is just a pair of dice on a black background, and you don't even use dice!
2. Gastly from basic..... absolutely useless card, it cant do any damage, it only has 30 health, and its second ability is just basically throwing away a energy for the turn. its card art isn't that great ether.
3. Dig...... This card doesn't have good card art and the end result is doing 10 damage to you or, more likely, yourself. Just a waist of a deck spot if you ask me.
4. any team rockets secret machines or robots from various sets ........ The card arts are very..... trippy and the effects end your turn 50% of the time. Not much more to say there.
5. Onix from vending S2 (Japaneses only)........ this card art is horrible, oh onix what did they do to you? its face, its face, its just soooo bad I cant stand to look at it anymore. All I can think of is Derp onix when I look at it.
Well that is my list, as you can see I have a lot of old school cards on this list and that is because that is when I did most of my pokemon card playing. My favorite sets are Gym heroes and Challenge and this list reflects that. i look forward to reading your lists soon.
