Generation 4! It's my favorite generation (Currently, though Gen 5 seems to be going for that spot already). It has the best story, a lot of the pokemon there are high on my favorites list, the region is beautiful, with the mountains, swamps and icelands, and the music is amazing. I have beaten all 4 gens, and it also seems to be the hardest of them all. But it does have a drawback, and its name is... Manaphy.

But other then that, it's amazing.
 
I liked Gen II the best, IMO it has the most unique pokemon an doesn't cross any boundaries in terms of pokemon design and story line.

playing 2 regions was awesome even though the second didnt have much of a story line.

and the graphics, OH MY GOD THE GRAPHICS!

The graphics are my favorite by far, i love the over use of dithering and the style is perfect.

With the exception of Graphics, I completely agree with you. If only Glaceon had originated from this time, I would want to learn to repair my gen 2 game pak so I wouldn't have to worry about breaking it from over use... any time I broke it, no matte- Milotic, Blaziken, Togekiss, and Gardivoir would also be nice bonuses, and Maybe a few more Encounter areas for Skarmory...
 
Gen II, for me, was what kick started my interest in Pokemon, so it's my favourite!
