What level is Ash's Pikachu at?

As his Pikachu looked strong, I and some members of my family said he was level one million. xDD
This was just a joke of course. Otherwise, I have no idea what level he could be, but he can't be 75. -w-
I don't know, but with the Anime, we can expect everything, even stupid things. :/

There are no levels in the anime. The last time a specific level was mentioned was episode 9, we're now on episode 655 with no level mention outside "___is a really high level" meaning "____ is really powerful", so obviously they scrapped the idea of there being specific levels in the anime, and just use the word "level" in place of "strength" to use vocabulary from the games.

But of course this post is going to be ignored and the next person will say Pikachu's at level 80 >_____<

I'm pretty sure it's around 80 or 83 according to Ash's pokemon in Heartgold and Soulsilver.

Of course they wouldn't say it specifically because it would sound too "video game". It also mentions that certain pokemon can only evolve after getting enough experience. It sounds more like level up to me.

I recently watched the episode with Brawler and I think he said: "We've leveled up Makuhita". Not sure if it was him or someone else but that made me think, "are there levels in the Anime?"

Answering your question, maybe 89? That's the same as Red right?

I think the truth of ash's pikachu is really strong but
when it reaches its highest level in the next season to fall again

They mentioned levels before, and probably knew they wouldn't be able to keep it consistent, so dropped the idea of having actual numerical levels comparable to the games at all.

Actual experience points have never even been mentioned in the anime. "Experience" seems also to be another term they use just to use vocabulary from the games, in that case, it just means whenever the writers feel that the Pokemon should evolve. Actually, they don't even all evolve in battle, like Swinub evolved after pretty much no battling while against a Team Rocket mecha. Some Pokemon hardly battle and evolve, like Starly or Swinub, some like Chimchar battle a lot and it takes a few seasons >_>. They're not gaining actual experience points, they're not going up levels, gaining EVs, or anything like that. They just battle, and the writers randomly decide whether they're actually going to get any stronger, evolve that episode, learn a new move, whatever.

Really, the writers are using words like "levels" or "experience" just to use words from the games, when what they're doing has nothing actually to do with game levels or experience >_>

The Pokemon Special manga mentions actual levels and keeps much closer to the games than the anime, but I don't think even Pokespe mentions Pokemon gaining actual experience points.

I completely agree with this there is no actual leveling up in the animation as such and there is no real gaining of experience but if you still insist on knowing the lv. of ash's pikachu I would probably have to say that the closest it would be would be at the lv. of reds pikachu in the HG SS in its 80s.

It has been briefly mentioned in some episodes, but nothing overly obvious. Have a look.

In any case, levels aren't something pressed in the anime as the pokemon world is supposed to be diverse and every pokemon has the ability to be powerful regardless of size or species so I believe the anime avoided adding the feature. It was just a concept made for the games to make them competitive. However, Pikachu should be extremely powerful by now I must agree. It's odd that it still holds the same power as some of Ash's newer pokemon when it's been training with Ash since Kanto.
This.

Level is not important in the anime. :o

I don't think we can pin point his exact level but I think experience points are a given. I'm curious or not if Pikachu is trying to resist evolving?..
I haven't watched an episode in the last year, nor do I like waking up at 5am to watch anything.. What happened to the afternoons?!

It's somewhere between 9000 and infinity. Because in the anime the limit is not 100.

Then again, I'll just go with the region level reset theory. ****ing uberchu my foot.

That's something that always confused me. From what I have watched, it's level seems to restart every time Ash goes to a new region. If its level didn't restart, he could have defeated all of Roark's Pokémon in one hit.

i remember this question was once asked in that weekly pokemon.com newsletter. as far as i remember the guy answered that levels actually didnt matter when it came to episode stuff.

It seems like that every time Ash enters a new region, Pikachu's level drops from level 100 to level 1 again, and with each zapping of Team Rocket each episode, Pikachu grows one level, despite Team Rockets Pokemon being apparently really low leveled, seriously, fighting two Team Rocket members in the games, each with level 10 or so Pokemon, not going to level your Pikachu from level 44 to level 45, it will only gain, at most, 50 exp. from each Pokemon they have (most people evolve their Pikachu by that point)

It's either that, or the writers simply don't even care about the games, or maybe they never even played them at all.....

well at new each region Ash's pikachu experiences a pika-reset... so he doesn't pawn every match.

But it's pretty safe to say at the end of each region and the anime did have a level system attach to it probably close to 100

Well... Pikachu learns Electro Ball at level 18.... Just saying...

Hey there, please don't reply to threads that haven't been posted in during the last 30 days. If you want to discuss Pikachu a bit more, there's a topic here inquiring about the reasons behind his strength. I'm going to lock this thread up though. ;x
